Travelers car insurance coverage

Travelers offers a multitude of auto policy options. You can get instant online quotes and read about its insurance offerings on the company’s website. Its coverage options include:

  • Liability
  • Comprehensive
  • Personal injury protection
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist
  • Collision
  • Medical payments

Policyholders can also add on extra coverage, including roadside assistance and new car replacement.

How does Travelers car insurance work?

You can request a free quote on the Travelers website. After entering your vehicle details and desired coverage, you’ll select your preferred deductible limit; lower deductible limits mean you’ll pay fewer out-of-pocket expenses in the case of an accident or repairs, but a higher deductible limit allows for a lower monthly premium. You can also add extra coverage to your policy for more protection — though additional coverage does increase your monthly premium.

Travelers car insurance quotes and costs

Travelers’ deductible limits range from $100 to $1,000. The cost of a Travelers car insurance policy varies based on:

  • Vehicle age, mileage and condition
  • Deductible limit
  • Type(s) of coverage

Travelers offers many discount options, including:

  • Multipolicy
  • Multicar
  • Hybrid/electric vehicle
  • Continuous insurance
  • Homeownership
  • Safe driver
  • Early quote
  • New car
  • EFT, pay in full and good payer
  • IntelliDrive program

It also has discounts for students and drivers in training, and it offers an affinity program for members of participating companies, associations and credit unions.

Travelers car insurance FAQ

Does Travelers offer accident forgiveness?
Yes, Travelers does offer accident forgiveness as an additional coverage option. Its Responsible Driver plan forgives one accident and one minor violation every 36 months, and its Premier Responsible Driver plan includes decreasing deductibles and total loss deductible waivers for an additional fee.
Who owns Travelers Insurance?
Travelers Insurance is owned by The Travelers Companies (previously known as Citigroup).
Does Travelers cover rental cars?
Yes, but rental car coverage is an additional coverage option; if you opt for this coverage, you can request a rental car if your vehicle is out of commission for more than 24 hours.
Does Travelers provide free roadside assistance?
No. The Travelers roadside assistance program is an additional coverage option and is not included in its standard policies.

Is Travelers car insurance good?

Travelers car insurance is a good option for individuals and families looking for auto coverage with multiple discount opportunities and low starting rates. However, because Travelers requires extra fees for add-ons like rental car coverage and roadside assistance, it might not be the best option for those who need an all-inclusive insurance policy.

Horrible experience, I’ve had them 1 month and now I have to go somewhere else because they make you go through hoops and it is real frustrating. I just want to fill out the paperwork and pay my bills but a few weeks later they want meetings to make sure everything is correct and none of their apps work correctly, I’ve had other insurances which I’ll be going back to! Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere!

A lady drove into my car door as I’m in a complete stop. And Travelers doesn’t want to pay the claim, they want to take zero liability, even after the lady told my Insurance Company she was at fault. I have no respect for Travelers Insurance at all. Travelers' agent couldn’t wait to say to me how excited she was that they were going to have zero liability to take care of my car. There was no moral or dignity- just trash. Thanks for telling everybody in the state of Florida that it’s OKAY for your drivers to crash into stopped vehicles.

I had a lien placed on my house and we negotiated a payoff and a date it had to be done by. I met both those qualifications paid them the money on the date specified and they then refuse to fill out the paperwork to have the lien removed. It is now a year and a half and they still have not lifted it nor will they help me to do it. Nor do I have any way of reaching them to get any assistance. This is completely unfair. I kept my word and they backed out on theirs. There is no reason for them to not lift the lien according to our agreement. In addition they would not even provide me with the paperwork which I would then file at my own expense.

Get into an accident and it was declared totaled in 3 days but it's taken 20 days SO FAR to write a check. I have not been made whole in any way shape or form and had to give my rental car back after a week even though I had NO progress made on my claim during that time. I am not sure why I am paying for the service when it is not being used. Messages to employees involved generally take days to get a response from. The whole process started super fast and has now died. I am struggling to understand why I still don't have a rental car and why this process is taking so long when I can see on GPS my totaled car is already at the auction yard. Moving fast to get your money I see...

The initial rate was attractive, which is why we switched. However, the communication has been absolutely unacceptable. After completing all the required documents and receiving the auto insurance policy, we suddenly received a notice demanding an additional payment. The reason provided was that the “declaration page” from my previous insurer was not accepted—simply because it did not literally say “declaration page” on the document, despite clearly listing all required details such as coverage and liability. I even had to arrange a call with agents from both companies to confirm that the information was valid, only formatted differently.

Yet, despite all of this, your team came back again, insisting on the same “declaration page,” forcing me into a frustrating cycle of repeating the same explanation. At that point, it felt like I was speaking to robots, presenting clear evidence that was repeatedly ignored simply because it did not match a narrow formatting expectation. Because of these unreasonable demands and wasted time, I was left with no choice but to pay the additional charge or cancel the policy altogether. This is not just poor customer service—it is negligence, and it has caused unnecessary stress and frustration.

I’m deeply disappointed with my experience handling a third-party injury claim with Travelers Insurance. I was rear-ended by a Travelers-insured driver on July 10, 2025, and reported the claim promptly. After initially being told I could seek treatment with a provider of my choice and submit records for review, the adjuster suddenly reversed course after I booked and attended my first appointment.

I paid out of pocket for care based on Travelers’ written and verbal guidance, but they later claimed they would only consider treatment from the date of the accident—something they never told me until after the fact. Despite submitting a full set of formal medical records and billing from a licensed chiropractor (with diagnosis codes, CPT codes, and a clear link to the accident), Travelers has refused to revise their initial $500 offer.

They’ve relied on irrelevant factors like “low property damage” and a delay in seeking care, even though soft-tissue injuries like whiplash often present with delayed symptoms. Their justifications have been inconsistent, and they’ve refused to acknowledge or act on the complete documentation I submitted. Due to their handling of the claim and shifting explanations, I have filed a formal complaint with the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance. I expected honesty and professionalism from a company of this size, but my experience has left me frustrated, delayed in treatment, and financially burdened.

Made a claim through Travelers May 14th, and took my Mercedes to the preferred company Caliber Collision in Nashville TN. Caliber took excessive photos for Travelers so they could depreciated the value on my car before harassing me to take a salvage title on a perfectly great vehicle. Oh but TN Le is 75% threshold of a value. They stop allowing me to use the rental even though Caliber stopped my car from working while in their possession. Travelers was grateful to pay them $1300 into my claim for things Caliber did without even fixing nothing on my claim and then a $325 tow fee to Mercedes dealership when the car sat at Caliber for over 3 weeks not running or being repaired for the purpose of me bringing it and neither did Caliber or Travelers communicate to me the car didn't start after May 20th.

TRAVELERS waited until May 29th and contacted me to say my car is a total loss🤣. Folks are really desperate for someone's downfall and if they can do it to make you but a newer car that they think will last, they will. Anyways, Mercedes has fixed the noise start issue Caliber contribute to and Travelers paid them for but placing it against my claim so my threshold of fixing the actual claim items may place it pass their threshold for a total loss to remain.

Anyways I will be writing the BBB about Travelers just like I have about Caliber. First I will wait to see how Erica ** and Chris ** handle my claim. They don't communicate and pissed because I have taken the car to Benz to fix and now still want my other estimate. They are aware that David ** with Caliber has been removed from the location I took my vehicle due to similar issues as the office manager explained to me and my fiance. High estimates, false estimates with parts that aren't even a factor to the claim or incident.

I will continue to do reviews until I'm my car is fixed as it should be and my money that I've spent out of pocket is reimbursed. I don't pay Travelers every month $254 to play with my vehicle and this Preferred Company game of lies. I will keep pressing forward until these folks do what THEY SHOULD AS COMPANIES. Stop trying to take away valuable cars for your own gain, knowing the estimator has lies in the estimates as if you see the car physically like I do. See the difference in Calibers issues versus Dealership of Mercedes and they are qualified and estimate of the actual parts are cheaper to fix what Caliber claims they could fix, even though this isn't even the reason of my ACTUAL CLAIM.

Travelers want my car to be a total loss due to it's a 2013 Benz, but they not the ones who maintenance the car periodically or had the good credit score to purchase it off the dealership lot, or the one to even have driven the car or seen the car physically. Don't trust the Insurance Companies or the their Preferred Companies! My claim was about a pothole damaging my front right rim and my bumper.... This has become something else after in Caliber's possession, a non start vehicle and all these items they claim on their estimate for over $4300. This isn't even the amount for the claim I started lol, they are a scam full of jokes together and both need to pay up for what I'm losing out my pocket plus I've been paying for the rental and still had days left while Travelers knew my car would not start after being in Caliber's possession.

Do better companies and CUSTOMERS WON'T DO NEGATIVE REVIEWS ABOUT YOUR DIRTY WORK AND SERVICES YOU PRETEND TO CARE SO MUCH. Caliber locked down my vehicle by an employee excessively steering the wheel back and forth left to right on the ground, as if he was checking suspension components, turned off the car and proceeded to take off the Bumper and claim it was the Bumper impact that made the car not start. The dealership has no indication that the bumper was the fault of the car but it was the STEERING COLUMN LOCK THAT THEY MESSED UP AND HAD TO BE REPLACED!

Rental will cost me for the next 7 days $147 more out of pocket. $527 for the initial key to get for the car which I only used the Push start key for the 5 years I've had the car but the ignition key is now the only key sold and made for my vehicle plus all the headaches and TRAVELERS Erica ** & her assist Chris ** stating when asked to speak with Erica's her higher management, that she had no one above her 5 days prior to the rental going back. So again she as a manager of Travelers Lied, her boss name is Steve. They paid Calibers for the crap they did and I still haven't pocketed my reimbursement for the tow because they sent the check out of town without even asking if I wanted it Zelle. And even though I cancelled the check 6 days ago, I still haven't got the $325 Zelle yet. So they Mad and being Very Unprofessional.

I want my other estimate since David ** was moved and no repairs was done, the Estimate doesn't even matter per the Regional Manager Christopher B. Now my car has started at Mercedes, I will be getting it back and taking it for the Actual Estimate to a repair shop who isn't ALL ABOUT TOTAL LOSSES FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY. The Fact is, Caliber kept my Car from working to get another estimate while Travelers plan was to total it out by a Fake estimate done by a Guy who was removed from the office after this last incident and behind similar incidents per his Office Manager Chris S. Travelers is being SILENT and I'm contacting them while they just sit back and do what? What for the new estimate so they can pay up and not what they paid for Calibers issue RAISING MY CLAIM AMOUNT, and it has NOTHING TO DO WITH MY CLAIM I TOOK IT FOR.

Travelers has really disappointed me in the Staff they have over my Claim, all they said when ask to speak to someone higher was Erica or Chris ** which they was each aware they are doing nothing to resolve the false estimate or Caliber mishandling. Diagnostic of u start vehicle and things I never authorized Caliber to Do is a Liability on them and Never even knew the Car wouldn't start because I drove it to them perfectly fine as they drove it for 2 days after. Travelers y'all need to do better and I want my repairs done that I ask about, I do care about all the NEGATIVE PICTURES YOU ASKED CALIBER TO SEND! If that was the case I would've been took my car to the perfect people and that wasn't YOUR PREFERRED COMPANY.

Signing on with Travelers ended up being an all around 'bad experience'. I was told by them after about 3 months with their coverage that they were not responsible for informing their customer regarding an individual states requirements for coverage. In my case I had requested if I could put one of my 3 cars on 'vacation status' (reduced coverage when not being driven) when I initiated the policy. They accommodated without mentioning that their contract license with the State of Florida did not accommodate this arrangement.

After about 3 months I received a notice from the State of FL that I needed to increase my coverage on this car in storage or turn in my license plates... or they would suspend my drivers license. I did increase to full coverage at a notable increase. After the 5th month I cancelled the policy and received only a partial refund for what I had paid in and not in concert with getting a 1 month refund for the 6 months of premiums I paid. Not even the customer service rep I spoke with could explain the discrepancy.

Bottom line... Was this a training problem for an unformed policy writer or a catch 22 to get a higher premium and a way of doing business by Travelers? Whatever the reason this 'customer unfriendly' experience is one to be avoided. This was the first time in 10 years this issue surfaced when changing insurance companies knowing it was never an issue with other auto insurances I have had policies with since becoming a Florida resident. Being AWARE can be a powerful insight.

This company is absolutely the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. I've had them for years. I received a letter in the mail saying that my policy was not going to be renewed because the agent in which I originally got the policy from was no longer representing the company. That was over 3 years ago! The new agent has been handling my account for years! Now all of a sudden they decide they want to drop the policy for something that's not even true. So I call them. I let them know that I have had an agent and he is currently representing this company and then I change my payment method. The girl on the phone says okay everything's great.

Then a couple weeks later I get another letter saying that they can't enroll me in the recurring payment because my policy isn't renewing. I go through this four times. I get a text from one of their representatives in everything is all set. A week later I get another letter saying that they're going to draft my payment out of the same account that I have now told them to stop using four times and to use the card on file that I have given them. I'm not sure who works there or what's going on but there's not a brain cell between them. Stay far away from this ridiculous company.

I found out we had been driving without auto insurance for six weeks after River Valley Insurance had not forwarded paperwork to Travelers. I am being billed for those six weeks, I will not pay for something I did not have. I now have a bill for $144.00 and do not intend to pay even after being threatened by River Valley Ins. that I may be turned into the state for no insurance. Never in my life have I had a late payment on any account. This River Valley (Robbie), doing business for Travelers is a bad faith group. Every attempt to contact Travelers send all calls back to these people. When finding I had no auto insurance I was promptly reinstated but then demanded to pay for the six weeks without coverage, I cancelled the policy immediately.
