    We've been customers for almost 40 years, but we had never had to file a homeowners claim before now. We have a gigantic hole in our roof caused by Hurricane Beryl over 6 months ago. We also have lots of inside damage to our insulation and ceiling, our wired smoke/carbon monoxide detector system was destroyed, and most of our fence was destroyed. State Farm was saying that we can get it all fixed for around $2000 which is less than our deductible. That's less than the smoke detectors are going to cost. The cheapest estimate for our roof was over $30,000, we've gotten several and they all say that no reputable contractor would repair a roof with a hole that big.

    Now they are saying that the claim is denied because there were no weather events around the time of our claim. (We literally had a hurricane that day. It's pretty well documented.) Also, that doesn't even make sense because they acknowledged that the damage was from the hurricane when they did the inspection. They refuse to return calls or emails. Our agent is completely incompetent and doesn't understand anything about the appraisal process. He actually told me that if he were me, he would hire an attorney.

    State Farm is by far the worst insurance company on planet Earth period. This company is criminal. They deny most every claim. They denied my roof claim and should have paid for it. State Farm loses hundreds of millions of dollars annually. Make sense why they screw everybody out of their claims.

      State Farm decided to not renew our homeowner's policy -- the stated reason was our one-and-only claim for $12K. The claim was subrogated by State Farm and we were found not responsible by State Farm. The other company paid State Farm for the damage. I called State Farm Claims -- they said, "Talk to your agent." Agent said to talk to State Farm Claims. I pressed our agent. The agent said that they recently received training that when Underwriting decides a policy won't be renewed they will list the claim that was made and state that it is the reason for not renewing.

      The agent went on to say that according to the training they received, the stated reason might have absolutely nothing to do with the reason for not renewing. I asked if they got this recent training because State Farm is non-renewing their way out of WNC in the wake of Helene. He didn't answer. NC allows insurance companies to not renew for any reason or no reason at all. I expected State Farm to treat their customers with more respect -- stating a reason for not renewing that is false or misleading is unethical.

      Attention State Farm Policyholders, My claim is for roof damage from a storm in September of 2023. I have brought in a public adjuster to assist me in the process of getting the claim paid. The shingle manufacturer has released many bulletins recommending against the repair methods State Farms is willing to pay. The correct and generally accepted repair method with the type of damage to my roof is replacement. State Farm refuses to accept those terms.

      I feel it is important to warn others about the concerning practices I have encountered with State Farm when it comes to fulfilling claims. After experiencing significant frustration with my own claim, I can no longer remain silent. It has become clear to me that State Farm is systematically making every effort to avoid paying out claims that are clearly covered under their policies.

      Despite providing all necessary documentation, following the required steps, and having a legitimate claim, State Farm has engaged in prolonged delays, constant requests for the same information, and contradictory responses. This has led me to believe that the company is actively trying to minimize or deny legitimate claims, leaving their policyholders to fend for themselves.

      If you are a current State Farm customer, I strongly urge you to be vigilant when filing claims and to thoroughly review your policy coverage. Be prepared for delays, frustration, and a process that may not be as straightforward as expected. It is clear that State Farm's practices may not align with the promises made to its customers when they sign up for coverage. I hope this message serves as a warning, and I encourage anyone facing similar challenges to speak up and hold the company accountable. State Farm should not be allowed to prioritize profit over the fair treatment of its customers. Stay informed and protect your rights.

      State Farm is definitely not as advertised. They’re not on your side but on the side of their pocketbooks. They would go out of the way just to make you pay more for your claims. Weed through the bureaucracy and you’ll find that you would be better going with an insurance company that would really assist you and take care of you. Just beware when you sign up with them.

      Title: Avoid State Farm – Terrible Service and Risk of Being Defrauded

      My experience with State Farm has been nothing short of a nightmare. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I strongly recommend avoiding this company. Here’s why:

      Unacceptable Delays: It took over two months for an adjuster to even come out after I reported a theft. This kind of delay shows a total lack of urgency.

      Misinterpretation of Policy and False Claims: State Farm consistently misinterpreted my policy terms and falsely claimed that my representative couldn’t discuss my claim. They even accused me of refusing communication, which was completely false.

      Unsubstantiated Investigations: Despite this being a no-fault claim with video footage, State Farm claimed everything was questionable, including the footage itself. This tactic made it clear they were trying to dismiss my claim without properly reviewing the facts.

      Poor Communication & Blocking Access: I was transferred between agents repeatedly, and my access to the claims portal was blocked. This made it impossible to provide needed documentation and slowed the process even further.

      Unjust Cancellation of Payments: State Farm issued a check for my damages, only to cancel it the next day under false pretenses.

      If you still choose to stay with State Farm, I urge you to hire legal help from the very start. Without it, you’ll likely be defrauded and left in the dark, as I was. After this experience, I’ve withdrawn my claim, filed a complaint with the California Insurance Commissioner, and will never trust them again.

      I am currently having difficulty obtaining any information or updates from State Farm regarding my claim (State Farm Claim No: **). On 08/27/2024 lightning struck my home and damaged my roof, alarm system, sauna, and several appliances and devices. The same day, I made an insurance claim and received my claim number from State Farm. The claim has been transferred through 6 or 7 Adjusters and I'm not sure who the current Adjuster is.

      I put together a spreadsheet including the damaged item, model numbers and etc., and sent the list to the email address State Farm Provided. My current damage estimate is over $25,000. I have spent thousands of dollars (out of my pocket) on repairs and replacements of some of the damaged items. However, it's been several weeks, and I have not been able to get any response what-so-ever (reimbursement, information or updates) from State Farm...Even though one of the State Farm Adjusters verbally told me to go ahead and repair and replace those items. State Farm has very poor Claims Adjusters and practices. I highly recommend not depending on State Farm for your insurance needs.

      I've had State Farm for auto for more than 40 years and home owners for more than 30. Several years ago we had hail damage...holes in our siding, all the screens torn, dents in our gutter helmets. State Farm said the roof was fine. Fast forward, shingles are blowing off during every strong wind. All roofing companies immediately "frowned" when I told them we had State Farm. We filed a claim. State Farm said the missing shingles could be replaced and there was no hail damage, recent or otherwise. The estimate was well below our deductible. We had to replace the roof completely at our own expense. The adjuster told us State Farm would no longer be in the business of replacing roofs and we should just plan for the expense in the future. By the way, even if State Farm doesn't pay out a time, it is still recorded as a claim.

      I’ve had State Farm about 10 years now for home/auto insurance. There was a tornado that hit in July and it ripped parts of the roof, siding and there’s extensive water damage in the second floor of the house where water came pouring in. Every room has ceiling and wall damage as well as hallway in which the ceiling collapsed. There is insulation in the ceiling and it soaked up the leaking water and got so heavy the ceiling’s starting coming down. I have a $2500 deductible and all they want to do is patch it but both sides are damaged. They basically want to put a bandaid on it by replacing a few shingles. The roof is only 14 years old and isn’t even halfway at its life expectancy plus they no longer make those shingles. They missed half of the damage and all they’re giving me is $5400 which will probably pay for about half of the damage to the second floor.

      I’ve had to get an independent adjuster and am hoping for the best. They sure know how to take your premium monthly and can afford to pay a slew of professional athletes for their commercials but they don’t want to pay out for a claim. I’ve never had such a difficult time with insurance. The damage occurred on 7/15 and I specifically told them when I called on the claim. When I looked at the estimate they conveniently put down 7/13 instead and that was prior to the damage date. After everything is finished I’m looking for a new company.

      State Farm auto and home insurance: Auto insurance since 1992; current cost=790/yr, Condo insurance since 2015; current cost= 546/yr, Apartment insurance for years prior to buying the condo. A lawyer told me State Farm is now one of the worst insurance companies. They have appeared in many news stories for dropping homeowner insurance policies using drones and absurd excuses. This makes me think my experience isn't uniquely bad.

      I tried to make a claim because another owner beneath had water damage. I was on hold for 45 minutes and made the claim online while waiting. I waited for days for a call from a person whose job is to lie and generalize to convince me to withdraw my claim. I am dealing with a company who has lied to me constantly, but they said State Farm lied to them. Since they both seem to have a tenuous grasp on ethics, I'm not sure who to believe. When I finally talked to an agent who told me how to claim a reimbursement, I thought I had to process. I submitted via email, on their website, and by mail. I rarely received any response. When I was forced to repeat this lady seemed annoyed. (Lady annoyed does not begin to describe my mood right now.) They said they work with Servpro, which I thought meant that they were legit, far from it. They are coming after me and keep sending bogus illegal add on bills in fits.

      If I ever get out of this financial jail (Servpro has my bank account at negative 30k if I could pay) I will find another insurance company. But once one insurance company screws you nobody else will even sniff your request. OUT OF POCKET AFTER REIMBURSEMENT: $47335.16-$9912.75 (State Farm paid) =$37422.41 (paid over reimbursement). Servpro charges:

      8/22: demand letter and packet containing mostly fraudulent charges. $5003.89 (8/22), $1709.97 (8/22) + $13184.81 (8/22) *+ $1749.66 (8/22) to return to check a leak I had to fix before they came out = $42317.46.

      **+ $154.35 (8/22) to move 39 flat boxes and ½ bag of grey powder-2 hours, $21802.68 + *10000 (charged afterwards to submit documents to State Farm and the company’s pain and suffering”) + $5000 Paid as deposit (might be included in total?) = $36802.68 (Servpro total after 8/22/2024).

      $8558.93 (paid) 2nd contractor to fix everything Servpro did, $1973.55 (paid)- Revised out of pocket: materials, fixtures, replacements = $47335.16 (inc. $445 for electrician to install new donated light and $234.61 not reimbursed hotel bill).

      RECEIVED FROM STATEFARM: $8252.21 + $1660.54 = $9912.75.
