Stay away from them! Misleading, dishonest and extremely expensive in comparison to Farmers or State Farm. They send misleading quotes to people, and then you will waste 45 minutes listing all the discounts that they will give you, only to hear quotes that are twice as high as what you have. This company should be out of business!

RUN, RUN FAR AWAY AND DON'T STOP, especially if you're a single female! I have filed a claim with Liberty and have had SEVEN MONTHS of unreasonable delays, denials and unsatisfactory settlements. This was due to internal negligence, lack of communication between their internal departments, lack of communication from management to me, the insured. This claim was mishandled in numerous ways, mainly by inorganization - losing photos and reports repeatedly between the ten claims reps my clam went through, along with so many other issues documented in a 17 page timeline. I do not believe Liberty Mutual investigated this claim thoroughly, properly, timely, fairly, nor did they keep it on track. Their internal incompetence has caused unreasonable delays – it’s been SEVEN MONTHS from the beginning of my claim until now and I have zero repairs completed because of the roof dispute.

My repairs should have been completed LONG ago, this should have been internally caught LONG ago, not SEVEN MONTHS LATER after I kept on pressing and pressing. Upon further investigation by reading reviews online, I have found that this is a common thing with Liberty Mutual and most of their insured, now EX INSURED, have had horrible experiences. I believe they did not act in good faith in handling my claim and this is an experience I wouldn’t wish upon anyone, much less a single, working Mom like me that has enough on her plate already.

I will now have to submit another claim and pay another deductible of $5,444 SEVEN MONTHS LATER and fully expect this to take several months, with multiple issues as well. This all could have been and should have been avoided if the proper channels would have been taken after my claim was filed. Don't get sucked in from their cute and funny commercials - this company is disgraceful GARBAGE, not mention how overpriced they are - after I closed my account with them and am now insured with a reputable, well known company, my rates decreased by over $1,000/year!!

After significant storm damage they sent 3rd party adjuster that said we needed new roof. That was pretty obvious to us. They were only willing to pay for some repair which was slightly more than our deductible. The adjuster told us Liberty Mutual, used to be a good company, but now their policy was simply to deny claims. We went to State Farm for around a third the price.

Liberty Mutual and Safeco's conduct appears to be consistent with bad faith insurance practices. I filed a homeowners insurance claim with Liberty Mutual (underwritten by Safeco) for structural damage caused by a major winter freeze. Despite submitting over 40 photos, detailed documentation, contractor estimates, and written explanations, they never sent an adjuster to inspect my property — not even once.

Instead, they denied my claim based on vague and inconsistent excuses like “settling” and “preexisting damage,” which they pulled from thin air and never verified through an in-person inspection. They repeatedly contradicted their own policy language — which clearly covered the situation — and twisted my contractor’s words to suit their narrative.

Two representatives were assigned to my claim: Promesa Juarez-Reynolds and Evelyn Porter. Promesa responded to serious structural evidence with casual text messages and long delays. Evelyn provided copy-pasted responses that completely disregarded the documentation I submitted and ignored key facts and policy coverage.

Even after I hired legal representation, they refused to respond through proper legal channels, continuing to stonewall, stall, and manipulate the process. Their strategy is clear: delay as long as possible, deny valid claims, and wear policyholders down until they give up. I paid my premiums. I did everything right. In return, I was treated like an obstacle.

This company is not in the business of protecting homes — they are in the business of protecting their bottom line. If you’re considering Liberty Mutual or Safeco for homeowners insurance, I urge you: look elsewhere. When you need them most, they’ll disappear behind a wall of scripted denials and silence. Disgraceful, unethical, and deeply disappointing.

This has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve had with any company—let alone a home insurance provider. Liberty Mutual confirmed that my home damage was covered, and multiple representatives—along with their own vendors—stated that the water intrusion was not groundwater which. I have already incurred expenses based on their recommendations to identify the root cause: opening my floors and walls (making my main living/sleeping space unlivable for months now).

Since then, they’ve reversed their decision without explanation, conducted multiple inconclusive inspections, and refused to reimburse me or even allow me access to the most recent inspection report of my own property. Despite repeated outreach, they have completely disregarded my concerns by refusing to address the clear discrepancies in their process and communication.

What’s even more alarming is the extent Liberty Mutual has gone to not help its own policyholder. The repeated delays, withholding of information, and failure to provide clear answers show a disturbing pattern of avoidance rather than support. This isn’t just mishandling—this feels intentional. I’ve done everything right as a policyholder, and Liberty Mutual has handled this with avoidance, inconsistency, and a total lack of transparency.

In October 2024, I purchased a home and during the process, I was receiving quotes from multiple companies for homeowners insurance. Liberty Mutual is one of the companies I contacted. I spoke with a person, gave them a bunch of info and was advised they needed an electronic signature to run my credit report for an accurate quote. I didn't think anything of it, due to having obtained multiple quotes, this was not uncommon. So, I signed the docs, got the quote, told them that I was still shopping around at the moment but I would let them know if I wanted to open the policy.

That afternoon, I went back to my underwriter, who said it was really high and they think I could get a better quote elsewhere. I told him to let me know and I would reach out to that company. Long story short, I ended going with another company. Erie, better policy, cheaper rates so far. Flash forward to December, I got an email notifying me I had a past due bill with Liberty Mutual. I contacted them that day and advised them I had only gotten a quote, had not actually agreed to opening a policy and that I had gone with another insurance company. She said, not to worry, she sees this all the time and that it is a common complaint.

She said she wanted me to send a copy of my current policy to a specific email address. I told her no, I would not be sending a copy of my current homeowner's insurance to anyone except for the bank that carries my mortgage. That my policy and information is private information. She said she would close it and notate the account. Call ended, thinking that problem was resolved. Flash forward to this month, MAY and I am now receiving phone calls and text messages from a collection company, they have turned the account over to. I contacted them and told them the same story, that the account should never had been opened to begin with. They said they would contact Liberty and get it resolved, but here I am, being charged ALMOST 1000 dollars for an account I never opened.

I came here looking to see if this has happened to anyone else, to make sure that someone knows about it. If this is not resolved, looking for other people this may have happened to. The account going on the credit report is one thing, but insurance companies have their own methods of determining your rates based on what other insurance companies report. So, I am concerned that this would cause an increase in my insurance rates across the board.

The cost was a little cheaper but what little they paid left me out of pocket over $30000. That was not the worst of it, I had to fight for everything. After 4 months they have worn me down and I am out. Save yourself from this. The cost was a bit lower, but the amount they paid left me out of pocket by over $30000. That wasn't even the worst part; I had to fight for everything. After four months, I was worn down and decided to walk away. Save yourself the trouble and pay what it takes to hire a reputable company. Pay what it costs to get a good company.

**, Keyla is the worst person you deal with. She has zero experience. I have damage in my home property over $11,000. I am dealing with her over 10 days. In the end she made estimate damage after deductible is only $2.100 after everything. Now I am taking the company Liberty Mutual to the court. Let see how is work. She is terrible adjuster. If you look at her profile photo it's funny doing like model. Anyway beware from this company those has 0 star.

Discounts? Yeah, that's what they claim. I've had my home insured with LM since 2020 and it started off well but since then, they have increased my premium 180%. My home is a 2,300sqft two story on 2 acres in NE Texas, in the country. It was built in 2003 and hasn't had many updates. LM is charging me $10,000 a year as of December 2024. The invoice says this includes Military discount, "inflation protection discount" LOL, multi policy discount (Auto), new roof discount, and 5 other "discounts or benefits". It's all hogwash. This company is nothing but another greedy corporation, who will gladly take food off your family's plate but will scrutinize every aspect of a claim and take months to satisfy.

I had a water leak in my kitchen due to issue with the reverse osmosis system. It leaked all the way through the floorboards into a downstairs room causing damage there as well. Liberty Mutual sent out a remediation team who then proceeded to rip out the flooring, damaged cabinets and put up braces, sticking out over the kitchen sink and island. It has been that way for 11 months. I had to hire a Public Adjuster to help me with my claim.

Liberty Mutual did their best to try to not acknowledge my claim. Recently, they finally agreed to pay out on my claim and of course they are lowballing me. My home has been like living in a construction zone for the past 11 months and still nothing is fixed or replaced, my premium is also high as well. This is completely unacceptable, especially since I pay my homeowners insurance every month rain or shine and I have to live in a home that’s hardly functional. I believe Liberty Mutual is acting in bad faith and they are not exercising due diligence, or ethics for that matter. I would definitely not recommend Liberty Mutual as an insurance carrier, they are the absolute worst.
