First American Home Warranty exclusions

Coverage exclusions will be outlined in your contract and usually pertain to circumstances outside of normal wear and tear.

Item parts that are deemed nonessential to the core functioning of the appliance or system may also be excluded from coverage. For example, First American Home Warranty will cover your plumbing system but will not cover fixtures, faucets, filters or showerheads.     I've been a First American Home Warranty customer for over seven years. Initially, I was introduced to it through a real estate transaction when we purchased our home, and it's been with us ever since.

    Having utilized the service over the years, I wanted to share some of my experiences. We've often needed to submit claims, and the online process for doing so is straightforward. The site is user-friendly, making it simple to fill out the necessary forms. This convenience is complemented by the quick notifications I receive about contractors coming to our aid, usually through both email and text, which includes their contact information.

    The quality of the contractors sent out by First American has generally been impressive. We've encountered no significant issues with them, though I must mention one specific situation with an air conditioning repair. The repair process was stretched out due to disagreements over the recovery of Freon, which required ongoing communication among myself, the contractor, and First American. It was challenging, but eventually resolved.

    Most recently, we dealt with an issue where our air conditioning unit was losing Freon, causing it to freeze up. The contractor not only added more Freon but also applied a sealant to address a slow leak and handled some necessary caulking work. Thankfully, everything is now functioning smoothly.

    Overall, I would rate First American Home Warranty just above 4, although not quite a perfect grade due to the prolonged AC repair issue. Apart from this, I've been pleased with the additional coverage options the program provides, allowing us to tailor our plan to fit our needs. Their ability to get service personnel out promptly, especially for critical heating and cooling matters, is commendable.

    For those considering a home warranty, I would definitely recommend First American, as it's proven to be a beneficial choice for us. Checking if this warranty suits one's home needs could be worthwhile. If asked, I'd speak highly of their customer service, coverage options, and pricing, as these areas have been notably satisfactory in our experience.

      My previous experience with American Home Shield was less than satisfactory. The main issue was how they handled my service requests when a covered unit needed attention. Hearing about First American through advertisement, I decided to change my warranty provider, hoping for a better experience.

      Calling to submit a claim with First American has been very straightforward. Once I contact their customer service, I receive an almost immediate text message confirming that a contractor has been contacted, along with options to select the best date and time for a visit. While I find First American incredibly responsive, the contractors’ timing could definitely use some improvement. For instance, my recent claim about the HVAC issue took about five days to schedule a contractor in our hot and humid Georgia weather, which I felt was a bit too long.

      The quality of contractors has generally been good, and if rating them out of ten, I would give a nine. Their communication through text about appointments adds to this positive experience. However, I think contractors should be more time-sensitive, particularly in urgent climate conditions like ours.

      If a friend or family member were to ask, I’d emphasize First American’s quick response to claims. They're efficient in this aspect, and I’ve had only positive office experiences with them. I would highly recommend First American Home Warranty compared to other home warranty providers I've used.

      In summary, for customer service and coverage, First American gets a five. My comprehensive plan seems to cover everything I need. Price-wise, it’s a fair four. Overall, First American is firm, responsive, and committed to fulfilling requests swiftly, though improvements in contractor scheduling would definitely help solidify their outstanding service stature.

      The decision to go with First American was easy since I’d used their service before and was familiar with their offerings. Upon moving into a new house, I re-enrolled with them after my previous home warranty coverage ended.

      Over the course of the 3 or 4 years I’ve been with First American, I’ve found submitting claims to be quite straightforward. Recently, the entire process was completed online, and I appreciated that it was fast and hassle-free without the need to make phone calls. Typically, after submitting a claim, I receive an email detailing the contractor who would be handling the service, which I found convenient.

      Regarding the quality of contractors, they have consistently been top-notch, and I haven't encountered any issues. During a recent claim related to my air conditioner, although there was a slight delay due to parts being on backorder which was not within First American's control, the process was otherwise fluid. Once service commenced, everything went smoothly.

      From start to finish, the claims process consists of making the claim online, receiving follow-up emails, and finally getting confirmation once the claim is complete. I’ve had no further problems since the repairs, and everything is functioning well.

      One aspect I would note is that most communications are handled via email rather than phone. While this didn't inconvenience me personally, some may prefer receiving direct calls throughout the process for a more personal touch.

      I would recommend First American to friends and neighbors for their efficiency and reliability. My two claims across various homes were addressed quickly, with reputable contractors performing the necessary services, reinforcing my trust in their coverage. Overall, I find the service to be smooth and worthwhile, leaving me with confidence in the protection they offer.

      When I purchased my home, the seller included First American with the sale. I have now been a customer since the fall of 2018, employing their services with two different homes.

      Submitting a claim has always been straightforward for me since I do it online. Even though I live in a rural area, where trips are usually lengthy, First American utilizes local contractors which has made the entire process seamless. I briefly describe the problem, and the service provider schedules a timely appointment. Over the years, I've had multiple interactions with various contractors. Initially, I wasn't entirely satisfied, but my experience improved significantly with the recent contractor, Service Pro, who has been excellent. Their professionalism and communication kept me informed throughout the process, leading to satisfactory repair work on my oven and washer-dryer combo.

      Speaking of recent claims, I experienced issues with my washer not draining well and my dryer not heating adequately. After identifying the need for a new water pump in the washer and a fan motor blower for the dryer, Service Pro ordered parts, which were unfortunately incorrect twice. Eventually, after realizing the parts I needed weren't readily available, First American replaced the machines. This whole process took about three months.

      Although there was a lengthier-than-expected wait for this particular claim, the contractors kept communication open, which ensured that I stayed informed about each stage of the process, such as when the parts arrived.

      One notable experience involved an HVAC claim, where I was unexpectedly out-of-pocket due to certain coverages under the warranty not aligning with what I had anticipated. Nevertheless, the experience only slightly altered my overall positive view of the company, as they complied fairly with the terms of the contract, and the work done was timely and professional.

      I appreciate First American Home Warranty overall for their easy-to-use online tool and robust contractor network. With contractors like Service Pro acting as the face of their service, the experiences have been positive, and I remain a satisfied customer.

      I've used First American for a while with different homes. The lady that I usually use, Cindy, is the reason that I went with the company. My account right now, for some reason, was switched over to corporate account so I'm just waiting for it to expire so that I can switch back to Cindy because of her personal experience and I can call her when I have a problem and she gets things taken care of for me.

      First American has the best price and it covered everything that I needed to be covered. Some of the vendors or the contractors that get called aren't people-friendly, so I've had to request different contractors instead of the one they send because they haven't always been nice, cooperative, or capable. I submit my claims online. It's easy. I just fill out the form. I recently had a refrigerator-freezer claim. The freezer wasn't freezing, so all the ice cream was melting.

      On the technician's first visit, he just came in, wrote down the model number, and said he was gonna order parts. So, I was a little concerned because he didn't look at it. He didn't really assess any of the parts. He just ordered parts and then he came back about a week later and switched out the parts. And then it took about 48 hours for it to start working again, but he didn't explain that it would take time for it to reboot. He just put it in and left. As far as First American, I've been rating it a 5 and I have referred them. They're responsive and that when they use Cindy directly, I get real personal attention. The pricing is great. As far as improvement, they could allow customers to use contractors that they know are in the area and dependable.

      I've been using First American for around five years now and my experience with them has been largely positive, although there's one area that could use improvement. The main issue is the wait time for a technician to come out, which is typically 24 to 48 hours. I find this wait time to be a bit too long. On the other hand, I've had no problems with the quality of the contractors they've sent; I've been quite satisfied with their work. Whenever I need to submit a claim, I talk directly to a person, and fortunately, it's not difficult to reach someone.
