What is Faye?

Faye is an “insurtech” company selling whole-trip travel insurance underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company. It is 100% digital: You can get quotes, purchase coverage, make claims and get support 24/7 online.

Faye’s standard plan covers your trip and your belongings and health while you’re traveling in the U.S. or most countries. Faye offers add-on coverage for rental car damage, any-reason cancellation, extreme & adventure sports, pet care and vacation rental damage.

Faye started in early 2022. As of publishing, its plans are available to residents of all states.

How does Faye work?

To get pricing for your trip, enter your trip and traveler details on Faye’s website or in its mobile app. Your custom quote will be available in 60 seconds or less and will include the total plan cost and the cost of any additional coverage. You can adjust the estimated total trip cost, which is the maximum amount Faye will reimburse in the event of a cancellation.

Once you’ve received and accepted your quote, the next step is to have Faye’s app ready to use while on your trip. Faye’s app provides flight alerts and COVID-19 requirements, helps you file claims and receive reimbursement, and gives you access to 24/7 customer support.

Faye coverage

Faye offers whole-trip insurance, dividing coverages into three categories: your health, your trip and your stuff. Most of its coverages come standard, with several add-on options available.

Faye also offers add-on coverages for rental car damage, canceling for any reason (at least 48 hours ahead of departure), vet and kennel expenses, and vacation rental property damage.

How much does Faye cost?

Faye trip insurance costs vary based on factors including where you’re traveling, the length of your trip, any add-on coverages you choose and the estimated total trip cost (the maximum amount Faye reimburses you in case of a trip cancellation).

We requested a quote for Faye travel insurance for a family traveling from Colorado to Hawaii in December 2020. Faye quoted a price of $269.77 with an estimated total trip cost of $2,000. Increasing the maximum reimbursement to $5,000 increased the total cost to $361.34. Adding on cancel-for-any-reason coverage would have cost $38.28 or $95.70 for each plan, respectively.

When should I purchase Faye insurance?

Faye recommends purchasing travel insurance as soon as possible after booking your trip so you’re protected in case of any unforeseen event. To get the full range of coverage options, you must purchase your plan within 14 days of booking your trip. You can purchase coverage up to the time you leave.

Where is Faye available?

Faye offers plans for domestic U.S. travel and most international travel. It’s available to residents of all states. It is not available to Washington, D.C. residents. Faye is available to residents of New York, with some modifications due to state-specific insurance regulations.

How do I file a claim with Faye?

You can file a claim using the Faye app. You can then check the status in the app or by emailing or calling the company. Faye aims to process claims within 48 hours of receiving all necessary information.

What is Faye’s cancellation policy?

If you cancel within 14 days after purchasing a Faye plan, you’ll receive a full refund as long as your trip hasn’t started and you haven’t filed a claim.

    I truly appreciate how helpful everyone was at Faye that was involved with my case!! This was an easy process letting Faye know what was going on with my missed flight connection and looking into what is covered for me. I have used Faye in the past for my trips and luckily never had to “use” them, just had it in case. And this time I did have to use their services and they made it so easy for me.       A Rollercoaster Experience with Faye Insurance – From 1 Star to 5 Stars! I’ll be honest—at first, I was beyond frustrated with my experience with Faye Insurance. The claims process felt overwhelming, requiring copious amounts of paperwork, receipts, and, at times, detailed narratives explaining my expenses. In the midst of an already stressful situation, it felt like an additional burden, and I was convinced this was going to be another one of those insurance companies that finds every loophole possible to deny a claim.

      However, patience paid off—both theirs and mine. As I navigated my travel debacle during the summer of 2024, I had back-to-back crises while traveling from Nepal to India. In Nepal, I suffered a severe upper respiratory infection that progressed into altitude sickness, requiring an emergency helicopter evacuation to Kathmandu. As if that weren’t enough, I finally arrived in India to continue my 500-hour yoga certification, only to receive the devastating news that my father had passed away.

      Throughout it all, Faye Insurance came through. While the process was meticulous and required me to document everything (and I mean everything—photos, receipts, medical records, you name it), they ultimately took care of me. They honored my claims and helped make the financial impact of my losses survivable. The most important takeaway? When filing a claim, document, document, photograph, and document again. If you’re thorough, Faye will do what they promise—stand by you when you need them most.

      A very special thanks to Erica **, whose patience, guidance, and support made all the difference. Her professionalism and understanding transformed my experience, and for that, I’m truly grateful. So yes, what started as a 1-star experience has ended as a well-earned 5-star review.       Hello - our trip was wonderful and very well planned out; however, I would say it would have been advantageous to reduce the number of tours for such a short time. It’s totally our fault for not knowing better, but we found everything was very crammed in. Our hotel in Porto was nice; however, the restaurant on site left us a very bad taste. It took 1/2 hr to get drinks; 2 hrs to get dinner and I had to ask 3 times for bread. We made our complaint and the hotel only apologized. I work for hospitality, and this was no way to treat your guest. The hotel should’ve compensated the drinks or dinner, but they did nothing. I will never return to that hotel nor will I ever recommend that hotel. Thank you. Julia

      Nobody wants to imagine something going wrong once in a lifetime trip to Machu Picchu. But here you are with salmonella and severe dehydration stuck in a hospital on an IV when you should be out with your daughter hiking through the jungle. Now you are terrified about how you will pay for the hospital bill! Imagine your surprise when you go to check out and find the bill already paid - by Faye!!! Isn’t that all you need to know?

      Never had to use it but people who have liked it very much. Based on those reviews would use the coverage again. The paperwork and policy is very straightforward so it’s easy to read. The price is very competitive based on your rating, so there’s no reason why on our next trip in our future trips in the United States, and outside of the country will continue to use your service. As a frequent traveler, we feel at our age it’s most important to have insurance coverage, we don’t travel any place that’s doesn’t have decent medical insurance. If there’s a particular insurance coverage, we should need when we’re traveling to the channel Eilan, such as Sark and Guernsey in this coverage is not adequate then I would like to know if there’s additional insurance which we should take out.

      We signed up with Faye for our EU (Germany Spain and France) 0m March 14, 25; our trip was fine until Iberia Airlines misplaced our luggages for the trip between Spain and Paris France on April 06, 25. We contacted Paris airport officer immediately. They directed me to PIR department and we supplied them with the bags info and get a PIR receipts. Here we are in Paris w/o luggages and we had to purchase some clothing and daily necessity and they are not cheap, we spend over 500euros for both our necessities.

      We file a claim with Faye and their app asking PIR, receipt, airlines tickets and police reports. We supplied all their requirement except police reports, the item is not stolen but misplaced by airline and there is no way to file report at France airport against airlines. Anyway today is 4/13/25, there is zero email contact nor helps from Faye at all, we are extremely disappointed with this horrible insurance company taking your money fast and zero customer service on claims and my recommendation to travelers "Stay Away".

      We just returned home after 2 weeks in Portugal and 2 weeks in Morocco. Faye is an honest and trustworthy company. It gives peace of mind while traveling.       One day before traveling to Europe my travel insurance company I have used for many years told me I now am too old for their coverage. I needed a new plan and came across Faye.       Pretty Awful experience. Spent almost $400 on 6 day trip policy. April 2 our flight was canceled rebooking was not possible. 5 hotels charges, rent car, entrance fees etc NOTHING WAS COVERED BY FAYE! Claim was declined. This was our first time buying this trip insurance. How would you feel not being able to go on trip with zero fault of ours and didn’t get support or coverage by travel insurance. Frustrating? To say the least, they just decline our coverage Friday evening making sure their claim department is closed for weekend. I just want the rest of you to know this company is NOT standing behind traveler. They just brush you off when you need them.

      We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Beautiful boat and most friendly crew. Good attention to safety on the boat. On-board meal was quite good, and the wine flowed. Something of great value on a boat of that size with many people aboard was the availability of four restrooms, which were quite roomy enough to avoid difficulties.
