Farmers insurance was paid last year through escrow when my house sold, 9 months ago. Never hear anything until a collection company reported on my credit report. I have sent all the documentation to the collection company and they sent it to farmers. Now a month later Farmers hadn’t responded, and I was told “they will give them the time they need to respond”. Meanwhile, I’m still showing a collection account on my credit report.

When I signed up through work, thought it was odd that the rep stated I was a good candidate for Farmers Insurance, having no claims and agreed to autopay. 1st year, was expensive thinking I was getting a deal through work program. By year 3, I had enough. I called and asked to re-visit my policy to help lower premiums, but keep getting I am already receiving best rates. Crazy, by year 3, I was paying 3k for my home, 4500 for 2 cars and another 3k for home policy for my mom. 10k plus, but they tell me I am already receiving best price. I just changed carriers and now paying total 6,200 for better coverage. Farmers not looking to keep customers, nor are they looking out for their clients.

Raised my premium at renewal an extra $300. They sent out an adjuster after I called to complain about the price hike. Soon after they canceled my home policy due to messy storage shed on the property. But all ended well. I was able to get a much lower rate for home and auto, plus I have better coverage. The fun did not end with them after cancelling. I sent them a few auto cancellations, but they kept charging my card. It was a nightmare to get rid of them.

Western NY has had hard winters. 80 plus inches of snow, winds, temperature changes with freezes. Adjusters were flown to assist in claims or third party companies were used. They denied, clearly uninformed about severe weather or instructed to do so. They had several claims last year due to hail, which some people are still fighting in class action lawsuit. Many people believe they are debating to recoup their profits from the area. Here goes to another class action lawsuit suit in order to get covered damage paid. Do NOT go with them. All they do is make you compliant for having insurance, but they do not support their customers or policies.

If I could leave negative stars I would. My house caught on fire January 2, 2025. Here we are 3 months later and I am still trying to get my money back from Farmers. They left me in a cold dark house and would not return my phone calls or texts. I had to clean up my own fire damage and call an emergency contractor to come out and board up the hole in the house. I wasn’t even offered a hotel. I had to continue to call and text the adjuster to get a hotel as I had to sleep on somebody’s couch the first night. Their initial offer to fix my fire damaged home that was caused by GE repairman was to offer me $1500 plus a possible recovery Of another 2300 once I proved I paid for all the repairs.

I had to hire a public adjuster which then turned into Farmers adjuster Matt **, calling and threatening me and trying to use strong arm tactics to get me to settle immediately. Now here we are over two months later and Farmers is refusing to subrogate with GE, they’re refusing to pay me back any of my out-of-pocket expenses or time. Even After they refused to help with any cleanup, but yet said they were going to kick me out of the hotel if I didn’t get back in the house so I had to spend 49 of my own personal hours cleaning fire damaged walls, furniture, floors, ceilings, and I had to arrange all the contractors to come out and give bids and make repairs and pay all of that out of my own pocket. Delay, defer, deny. That is absolutely Farmer's method.

They did not for one second care about me, my animals, or my daughter and they absolutely just use strong arm tactics to pay as little as possible. Matt ** the adjuster is a flat out liar and I continue to have to provide text and phone conversations to prove that he’s lying to try to get my money back after I’ve paid a policy and this fire was no cause of my own. Pretty bad when GE‘s insurance company is calling me weekly to let me know that Farmers still won’t contact them to subrogate the claim. I would never recommend Farmers to anyone, they will lie and deny to save every penny they can. My Farmer's agent has done nothing to help me through this whole process other than throw me a couple of phone numbers that went straight to voicemail and never returned my calls.

I have always maintained that Insurance companies bait their clientele with great offers and then stab you in the back with unmerited increases until you cry uncle looking for a better deal. I thought Farmers would be different, but not so. A 20% increase in the first year verifies my fear. Just another money hungry Insurance company reaching deeper into my pockets. Buyer Beware!

I found that I have been with them since 1981. This year my renewal was 01/07. I told them that I wanted to cancel the renewal as of that date. Anyway the other end of it did not go as planned, so I wanted to reinstate my policy having never been late on a payment. This was on the 16th. They have a group called the Mercier group I guess that handles their policies. So they reinstated my auto and they said the home was also reinstated. A day later and a call just a generic number no name. "We need some additional info." Since I was told all was reinstated, much to my surprise that they had to do a new policy at a lower coverage and higher cost, and I need an inspection on the home. I would not recommend them to anyone that I like. As soon as I do my Homework I will run from these folks. I never received 1 straight answer. GOOD LUCK.

Beware of the fine print. I purchased an additional policy to cover my boat dock approximately 10 years ago because I was advised by my agent that it was not covered as a separate structure under my homeowner's policy. When the tornado went through Rogers, AR in May 2024, the ramp was bent due to wind damage. The agent first told me that the dock was not covered because it was made of metal. Then he said I could not prove it was damaged by the wind. My home had to have a new roof, and a marina 2 miles from my home was destroyed by the wind. I contacted the insurance commissioner from AR, and they just said that the insurance company stood behind their claim, and that was the end unless I wanted to sue them. Another ineffective agency.

I had roof damage from a wind storm that caused major water damage to my home. The adjuster said half of the roof would need replaced as well as the ceiling drywall in multiple rooms. The adjuster refused to inspect the attic because the access was not "easy". This is where most of the damage occurred. Unfortunately, there was damage to some sheathing and a skylight from the particle board sitting water logged for 3 1/2 months. Farmers stated they would not cover the supplemental payment because it was caused by deterioration.

I requested multiple times to provide evidence of deterioration for the denial. All that was provided was a correspondence saying their "investigation" shows deterioration. The adjusters did not do their job by "investigating" the attic where most of the damage occurred. Now, I am paying for it. Stay away from this company.

I’ve had Farmers home insurance since I’ve bought my house to only see my rates go up. I recently changed to Travelers and I’ve reached out to my rep Deborah L ** to get the refund of the remaining year. No help. That’s how you can tell you’re just a number.
