I bought Whirlpool WTW4955HW3 Top Load Washing machine September of 2023, now less than 18 months the machine doesn't working anymore, it went to draining cycle automatically, never went to other cycle. Even after unplug/plug the power, it just went to draining cycle, never got a chance to run reset/recalibration. Called professional, was told that the control board could be bad, or maybe something else. Very disappointed with the quality.

I purchased a Whirlpool front loading washer and dryer combo in 2019. I had previous good experience with Whirlpool appliances, specifically washer/dryer, so felt good about purchasing them again after moving. This washer has been nothing but aggravating and has never worked as it should. It goes out of balance, does not drain, keeps running the drain pump to no avail. I have had to remove sopping wet clothes, sheets, blankets, etc. from the machine and try to wring them out by hand, more times than I can count. Since I purchased the 5-year warranty, I called for service right after purchasing and the tech said he couldn't find anything wrong. So, now it's out of warranty and a service call would be $150. Or more. Save your money and put it toward another brand that actually DOES wash as it's intended to do!

Barely 18 months since we've had this washer and it has stopped working as it should. The same issue that 100s of others are experiencing. The drain pump activates even when not in use. It quit washing and just runs the drain pump. After doing some research, this seems to be a common problem with these washers especially for the ones manufactured in the year 2023. Please take your hard earned money elsewhere. I've reached out to Whirlpool to inquire about a recall or replacing this machine to no avail.

You will do three things with this machine, at least. Wash clothes, spend a lot of time standing over it, and praying it doesn't tear your laundry room apart. Key notes for Whirlpool are simple. But need repeating. They are:

      Balance
      Balance
      Balance

      Tests.

Whirlpool washer fails in 14 months. I’m 65 years old and my Maytag washer failed after 19 years of use. I purchased a Whirlpool washer at Home Depot and it failed in 14 months unbelievable. So I called around to get it fixed but most repair technician said it would cost more than it was worth. So the wife and I went back to Home Depot and purchased another washer but this time a LG washer with a extended warranty. I have stage 4 lung cancer and was hoping to have the Whirlpool washer my last one but American made quality is crap.

Bought a washer & dryer for my manufactured home in June 2024. Dryer broke in Dec 2024. Warranty co. had me wait 4 weeks to come out. Fixed it for 1 cycle. SAME DAY I called back and they said another 4 weeks to come back. Paid $350 to get it fixed right. Now my washer broke Mar 2025. Needs pump and computer board. Can't wait again 4 weeks so had it fixed $400. STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WARRANTY CO. PLATINUM REPAIR SERVICES ARE HORRIBLE. Don't buy this garbage. No response from Whirlpool in Dec. on dryer breakdown. We'll see if I get a response this time. I doubt it.

I wish I had read reviews prior to buying this junk. It doesn't fill enough to wash more than 3 towels even on deep wash and the sensor for other size loads doesn't work. It is just a pile of Junk. I've only had it a month and I am planning to just throw it out.

We purchased the Amana washer which is a division of Whirpool, the washer developed mind of its own and it requires the control board, I would not recommend to purchase these brands as it seems to be common problem which the company does not fix the issue, the control board is expensive and it's not worth to fix the washer, seems like after year and a half brand new washer will have to be dispose.

I did not do my due diligence before buying my washer. I liked the big drum, and the ability to remove the agitator because I have a king size bed and wash comforters. I am old school. I like the water to run, put in the soap and add my clothes as it fills. You can’t do that with this washer. The washer does not completely fill when washing or rinsing. The agitator barely draws the clothes on top down so I wash on deep water setting. Every setting on the washer, except for one which I wash all my clothes in, takes over an HOUR or more to wash. If you have three loads to wash, you will be washing for three or four hours. It senses the load so if it’s off balance, the washer will continue to spin and the banging is very loud. You can’t open the lid to adjust the clothing.

You have to continue to let it run banging loudly. I did try to fill the washer with soap and put the clothes in because it doesn’t come with a manual. When I did all the water ran out and emptied uwice until I had to look up online how to actually use the washer. Because it doesn’t actually fill up to rinse, spin and empty. It seems as though the wash cycles are constantly running water to wash and rinse because that’s the way they rinse is just by spinning and squirting water on your clothes. I hate this washer. I’ve only had it a few months. I’m stuck with it. My advice if you're old school do your due diligence to see how the cycles run. I did buy the matching dryer and I so far have no complaints against the dryer.
