I live by myself up in the hills in Tennessee at the end of a dead-end road and I’m concerned about intruders. I saw SimpliSafe’s TV ads and they seemed to explain things clearly. Their marketing is good because it caught my attention. My son-in-law doesn’t have SimpliSafe, but he said he wishes he had gotten it and told me to get it. So, I did. Right now, I've got to get one of the cameras down and get it recharged. The batteries run down. I'm 80 years old and I just don't get around to all that stuff.

Last night, I was paying attention because I have a motion detector at the bottom of my driveway, and it went off. There was a warning about it. But nothing happened. Still, the customer service is good. Sometimes, I’ll go outside and forget to turn the alarm off in the morning and it goes off, and somebody calls right away. Plus, they call my son because he’s the referral if something happens here. Those calls are instant. My experience with SimpliSafe had been fine. It’s about what I expected.

I'm 82 years old, and both my wife and I are senior citizens. We live in a rural setting and we were concerned about our vulnerability. Before I had SimpliSafe, I was the security, along with a bunch of solar-powered devices that I surrounded the house with, and they are still there. So, people get lit up when they come in. There are also two alarms outside that go off with a blinking red light, but I wasn't satisfied and so we added SimpliSafe.

We have a driveway alert system. The driveway is several hundred yards, so we know when somebody first turns in and their progress as they come down the driveway closer to the house. It allows us time to hit the panic button if we need to before someone has a chance to actually attempt to breach the house.

We've been customers for a number of years now. When something was not working or we needed to make adjustments to the system, we would call support and they would walk me through making the corrections. They were wonderful, and I enjoyed talking with them.

Once, we were in the house when the alarm went off, but we never found anything inside. My wife was on the phone with SimpliSafe while I was checking out the interior of the house, heavily armed.

I have recommended SimpliSafe, and at least 2 people have installed SimpliSafe at their homes.

I wanted to have everything secured and my biggest concern was perimeter security. I learned about SimpliSafe through a radio commercial and ended up signing with them. The system hasn't been tested but so far, I like the remote access on the cellphone to look at the camera. SimpliSafe is expensive though. I put an Eufy system in at our church and there is no monthly fee.

Plus, if the Wi-Fi goes down for any reason, the system continues to record if it's tripped by sound or motion. Then, when the Wi-Fi comes back up, all the cameras upload to the base station. That is not a feature that SimpliSafe has. When we lose the Wi-Fi, we lose the whole system and that's a real weakness. Also, Eufy cameras have solar panels on top of them which are all they need to keep being charged. SimpliSafe doesn't have that. I continue to have them only because of the momentum of having it installed and being too lazy to switch over. But I have thought of canceling SimpliSafe and going to an Eufy system.

I like how hands-on SimpliSafe is. You can do it all by yourself but it’s very simple. If there's an issue or something's messed up, generally, you can figure it out yourself without having to call anyone. My biggest security concern is people opening doors. Some people worry about windows, but most of the time, someone’s going to try a door first. I wanted to make sure that if a door gets opened at night, the alarm goes off and scares them off. We have the chime-only setting on the windows, so even when we’re home, I know right away if a door or window opens. I like that. It’s especially helpful when the kids are going in and out.

Everything works good but it just seems like the batteries in the actual sensors are always dying. No matter what batteries I buy, they don't last very long. I hardly ever open up my windows but if I replace one of the window sensor batteries, in less than six months, it'll be saying that it needs to be replaced. Once I replace one, another one goes out. But SimpliSafe has good customer service. It’s easy to reach someone. And SimpliSafe is affordable for what you get. You’ve got monitoring when you’re away and you've got your camera. I pay about 30 bucks a month, and since I already bought the equipment, it’s all mine. For the level of security you get, it’s worth it.

We were in the middle of a move and researching options for the new area we were gonna be in and found SimpliSafe online. They were fairly new at the time. Their fees were much more reasonable, and we could install our own equipment without having to worry about setting up an appointment for installation. The system has worked for us well and we've enjoyed it. We like the flexibility of being able to pick what sensors we want and where we apply those and how we engage in the system itself.

Over the years, what used to differentiate them from others was their lower price point, but through the years, they’ve increased that, which doesn’t differentiate them much anymore. From our experience, the only difference between them and other competitors now is the flexibility and ease of installing. The price is getting more comparable to everyone else, so it’s no longer an incentive to stay with SimpliSafe. It used to be a flat rate of $25, which felt awesome because we were saving money and could manage it ourselves, but they’ve lost that edge by keeping up prices.

We signed up on Aug 4, 2025 and were promised a visa gift card. It has been 8 months now, and we have not received it. I have sent multiple emails with no response. I have called 3 times (Dec, Mar., Apr) and I am told that the request has been escalated and that Simplisafe will get back to me in 24-48 hrs. No one has got back to me any of those times.

Another customer referred SimpliSafe. One time I had a problem with a sensor that SimpliSafe quickly resolved. Another time was an inquiry. I was selling a property and I wanted to know what their policy was about transferring the hardware to another individual, if they would take their own plan and assume it that way, and that was resolved quickly.

I've had SimpliSafe for almost two years and it's absolutely terrible. I'm so tired of being locked out of my own house or unable to lock the door because of app or system issues. It happens over and over. Yes, batteries are full and that's not the issue. Just constant failing to work or the app has an error. I wanted the SimpliSafe door lock so it would work with the rest of the system but it is complete junk. One of the issues is when the back door lock won't work and also won't let me use my regular key so it's just completely stuck. Also the motion sensor that came with my kit has never worked despite being installed correctly and showing in app as working. I hate that I have to spend money on something else and now have two separate apps. Do better SimpliSafe!

If I could give NEGATIVE stars I would! I was sick and sleeping one day and 2 cops came to my house stating there was a duress call made to them by my alarm. I did NOT receive any notification from SimpliSafe, nor did I send any kind of duress call. I was SLEEPING. I advised the officers that day that I didn't even know how to send something like that or that it was even an option. He told me to call the alarm company. I called them and they stated that there was a sensor that was not responding and had me change the battery. I told them that this was a giant flaw in their system if they send out a distress call to the police and nothing to me if a battery dies. I then received a bill from the police department for $110 for a "false alarm."

I called SimpliSafe again, and after being transferred 3 times was told that there was a "duress pin" entered into my keypad. I told them that I was sleeping and that I didn't even have a duress pin or know what they were talking about and also told them what I was told the day that the alarm happened. She said "not sure why that representative said that, but she was wrong." She then said that they would not do anything about the fine I received or assist in any way.
