    I'm 75 and I realized bathtubs are really dangerous places for someone who's getting older and a little bit less mobile. I realized that Safe Step was the product that provided all those amenities of a safe tub and a safe bathing experience. It was the first thing I considered when I bought this house last year. If I'm going to live on this planet for more years, I need more things that are helpful for me to get around and to minimize any types of safety issues. The installation went very quickly and very easily, which I was surprised at because I thought there was a lot of intricate things that were going to take a lot of time, but the installer that came was quite adept, trained, and knew what he was doing and everything was done within the day. That was amazing.

    The product is what I expected. I expected something that was user-friendly and there are more bells and whistles on this unit than I even dreamed of. The added benefit of that little well where you can put some aroma therapy in and it gets distributed during the bathing process is phenomenal. Also, the use of light does have a tremendous effect upon the senses. I have a doctorate in education and psychology specifically, and I'm very much into those things that affect our mind, body, and spirit. My favorite is the intense whirlpool effect of the massage water, which helps my legs. I have somewhat diminished circulation in my legs due to a medical condition and that helps stimulate and it just feels good. When it was demonstrated to me by the salesperson that came in that there's light, aroma, and massage therapy, that was a very positive selling point.

    The company thought of all the possible combinations of a bathing experience, from the typical being submerged in water, a movable showerhead, a handheld one to all of these details that make it so much easier. Maybe I don't want to take a bath. Maybe I want to just take a nice, stimulating shower and I can do that. I can do all these possibilities. I used to have a big problem with the water setting in my regular shower but with the unit here, it regulates the temperature and it will do it for you to avoid any surges or that sense of, “Oh, what was that?” All of these other details were thoughtfully put into this unit.

    I have to admit, the unit was a bit more than I thought it would cost, but then when I thought about it, I recognized that whatever years I have left, I don't want them to be with this anxiety over keeping clean and practicing good hygiene. I don't want to compromise that with the fact of worrying about whether I can get in and out of a tub. I'm more concerned with just doing what I need to do to stay healthy and clean. I can take a safe bath, shower, and I can maintain my personal hygiene at a high level so I don't have to worry about any of that kind of social offensiveness, which to me, is a big deal.

      Initially, the sales representative was commendable; however, there was a financial discrepancy. The agreement on paper and the total amount financed differed by $664, which was unexpected. That’s not pocket change, that's a good chunk of money. Despite assurances that the representative would come by to verify the issue, it hasn't happened yet, which is disappointing.

      I've still got the piece of paper that says how much it was gonna be. He made some notes on it of how much I paid him that day and how much I was gonna pay when they installed it. I paid $10,000 on those two days, and since then, I have paid 5,000 more in another time, and another 1,000 at the first of this month. I've already paid $16,000 on it. My plan is to pay 1,000 a month over the next five months, and it'll be done. I don't wanna pay more on the interest in what I would have to pay because it's a big amount. The interest which is 10.99% is pretty high on a home improvement loan.

      During installation, the crew did well, but I wasn't thrilled with the use of clear caulk against white surfaces, which resulted in unsightly dark streaks. I believe they ran out of the white caulk, which should have been used instead.

      Regarding the tub itself, I'm pleased. Although my first experience was marred by insufficient hot water due to a low thermostat setting, this was corrected for subsequent uses. The additional features, like the hand shower, are quite satisfactory.

      The Safe Step walk-in tub is an excellent product. Originally, I saw a TV ad for it during a sporting event. Given the harmful effects of hot tubs, I liked the idea of using fresh water and avoiding harmful chemicals. Plus, having a safer bathing option for my wife and me as we age—I'm 66, and she's 78—was a big plus.

      Our sales rep, Scott, was fantastic. He was quick with answers, very knowledgeable, and even got our financing sorted with no money down. The only drawback was it took too long to get it and schedule the install. I wanted it the next day but it took four to six weeks. Safe Step should dropship tubs to their installers and have the installers store them somewhere in a warehouse and get these tubs a lot quicker to people than what they're currently doing. Their distribution center sucks. It was almost two months from the time we signed the deal before we got it. We also live way up north in northern Michigan and our installer came from Rochester Hills, Michigan, which is downstate near Detroit.

      But the installation was exceptional. Mike and his team were professional, taking care not to damage anything inside our home and leaving no mess at all. By the evening, the transformation was complete.

      In terms of the tub's design, I have a suggestion. As a 6'3" individual, I feel the seat could be an inch shorter and the tub itself a bit longer to improve comfort. This change would make the product even better, especially for taller users like myself.

      The therapy benefits have been immediate—for my joint pain and general relaxation, the tub is fantastic. It ensures a restful sleep afterwards.

      Overall, I'd highly recommend the Safe Step walk-in tub to anyone considering this type of purchase. It’s made life more comfortable and enjoyable for my wife and me. You really do get what you pay for.

      Julian, a rep from Safe Step, came in and said, "Let me just come and explain to you and show you what's going on with this company." I was really glad that he did. A guy higher than him had to have it clear that they took off another 1000 of what the original quote was and he said that they were gonna give me a bathrobe, which was an unusual thing because they don't normally give those out. They gave them out at the Christmas party. I haven't received my bathrobe yet. I've received the bathtub. I had called Julian several times, texted him that I haven't received it. He came in June to do the spiel. And then it's been in since July. So, it's been two months and I hadn't received it and he kept on saying something like, "I can't believe you don't have it yet. I can't believe you don't have it yet." So, what I ended up doing was I made a statement to him and he didn't respond at that time. So, I just went straight ahead and I called Safe Step. The woman told me that they never give out bathrobes. I said, "But that's what they told me they would do." And she said, "I'll let the guy in Florida know." She was gonna send one to Julian, too. I didn't hear from either of them that day.

      Finally, at one point, I made a text to him. I said, "Julian, I'm disappointed in you and your boss. You promised me that I would receive a bathrobe, and Safe Step. And you two have ignored my phone and my text. I contacted Safe Step and left a message with the woman and she was gonna send him an email. So, I will be posting something on Facebook. I was like done. I will be posting on Facebook about being dissatisfied for you not honoring your word I worked with the public also in hairdressing and I know that one bad remark can affect a lot of people. And I am so disappointed that you guys have not honored a simple statement that you and your superior suggested that you would do." They suggested it. I didn't ask for no bathrobe. I'm a person of honor. When it comes to what I say, I will do. I thought that they will also.

      After that, he said, "Mrs. Evans, you have my word that I will order and deliver the bathrobe to you personally. I am not sure why this message is not getting back to my manager, but I will assure you that bathrobe will be in your hands in a matter of days. Julian **." And I said, "It's been three months since you were in my home when you made the deal. I believe that is sufficient amount of time. I will look forward to you dropping it off yourself. Thank you very much." He said, "You will absolutely get it."

      I think that the only reason I am getting it, because they don't normally do this, is because I was going to take it a level higher and I was gonna post something on Facebook. I'm really sorry that that's what I was gonna do. And if it's not at my house, I will continue to do so. The message was on September 24th, Tuesday. That was a week ago. He said it would be in my hands in a matter of days. It's okay. I have a real big doctor's appointment tomorrow, but I am serious that if I do not get it, I will post something that they did not honor something on my deal, and that I am very disappointed about that.

      I like my Safe Step. I love everything about it. The installer was to order a part and bring it over. The thing that holds the shower up and down, that slides up and down, the handheld one. There's a rubber fitting. He showed me, "This isn't working." And he said, "I will order it and bring it in." That was the end of July too. So, we're already two months. We're going into the third month. When I did talk to the woman last Tuesday, she said that she would put the order in for that piece. I don't know who's gonna install. It doesn't matter to me. I don't know nothing about nothing. I'm sure that Julian could probably install it himself because he knows Safe Step and how they operate. If he wants to bring it when he brings the bathrobe, that's fine with me, too.

      I couldn’t have been happier with my new Safe Step Tub! The entire team was a pleasure to work with from the phone call with Susie, the initial consultation with Brian, and the installation team, throughout this project. Brian listened carefully to my preferences and delivered exactly what I wanted. The team who installed my tub showed up promptly, worked diligently throughout the day, and finished the project the same day! They had to remove our bathroom door frame to get the tub into my bathroom. When they reinstalled the door frame, it looked better than it was before.

      I first reached out to Safe Stem seeing their ads on TV and AARP and the interaction was seamless. Their presentation at my home was remarkably thorough. While it took a little longer than expected, they made sure to go through the details comprehensively. Regarding installation, it took roughly a day and a bit extra the following morning—totaling around 13 hours. There's one minor hiccup I noticed; you have to wait for the tub to drain fully before exiting after a bath, which can be a little inconvenient.       I saw Safe Step’s television ads and the sales consultation was incredibly pleasant as the representative provided a wealth of information. During installation, the team was impressive; they were tidy, cleaning as they went, and fielded my questions with patience and respect.

      Our favorite feature has to be the jets on the legs, which my husband and I find beneficial given our leg issues. The bathtub indeed feels like having a personal spa. The add-ons like the light show are entertaining, although we haven't dived into other features like music yet.

      While the bathtub remains leak-free, which is a relief, the aromatherapy wasn't to our satisfaction — the provided citrus piece didn't last long. It’d be nice if these could endure more uses.       I came across a TV or radio ad. The biggest reason for my purchase was an injury to my leg that made getting into a traditional bathtub nearly impossible. Despite being mostly satisfied, there are a couple of areas where there's room for improvement, like the time it takes to fill and drain the tub, which is about 10 minutes to fill and 8 or 9 to drain—yet, this is just a minor inconvenience I'm willing to accept given the benefits I get from it. I've never been a shower person, so the Safe Step Walk-In Tub fits perfectly with my preference for baths. I do have the detachable device for an occasional shower experience, but I rarely use it.
