I have a fairly old house and was on the lookout for a reliable home warranty. A friend recommended Old Republic Home Protection and it seemed like a good fit. I've been using their service for about 4 to 5 months now, and I appreciate that they cover repair costs. Navigating their website to submit claims is fairly straightforward, although I've found some difficulty when problems don't align with the dropdown menu options. In such cases, speaking to someone directly is helpful, though contacts can be hard to reach.

Most of my experiences have been positive, including a situation in June when my AC unexpectedly broke down. While it took about a week for the issue to be addressed—which was initially concerning—they managed to handle it effectively despite some delays in sourcing parts. I usually have backup cooling solutions like window units since I anticipate repairs during peak summer times, so this didn’t inconvenience me too much. I also encountered a similar wait time when my refrigerator needed servicing. Although it wasn't quick, Old Republic ensured a prompt solution by arranging service from another town due to local unavailability of qualified technicians. I'm satisfied with their service, understanding that in today's market immediate resolutions aren't always achievable, and I've made peace with similar waits being the norm regardless of the provider.

My greatest challenge with them, however, lays in communication. It would be immensely beneficial if reaching a customer service representative were more effortless. I’ve had instances where emails confirming request submissions arrive late, causing confusion. Queries about emergencies or equipment replacement policies are hard to have answered swiftly. Yet despite these areas requiring improvement, based on my warranty costs and the service I've received, I feel I've gotten my money's worth and I confidently recommend Old Republic Home Protection to others looking for a similar service.

I've got great coverage from Old Republic and I like the personal attention I get. I speak to Lena, a rep, every month, calling in for my payment for our fire insurance. She's local and I know exactly where she lives, which is close by. She's so personable and makes it a joy to pay my bill. Their fees are very in line. There's a bit of confusion about the billing right now though. They're going through a bit of a glitch. However, they've assured me that we are covered and I have total trust in Old Republic.

My home warranty has been expired. However, I placed a request before it expired to get my dishwasher repaired. This is the third time they've been out and it's still not repaired yet. So I've been waiting for a guy to come out and see if he can help out a little. If they don't repair it within three visits, my home warranty will replace the Maytag unit. It's odd because it's a relatively new machine. Other than that, the representatives have been kind and professional throughout and I'm looking forward to seeing what would happen with Old Republic.

Overall, I'm a fan of their business practices and look forward to a continued relationship with Old Republic. However, the billing glitches do concern me, and the rules about repeated service are quite interesting to deal with. When interacting with them, I primarily do so over the phone, and their service has always been prompt and efficient.

I'm satisfied but humorously cautious and give them a 4-star rating for their services, trusting the billing hiccups will be resolved. Whether for their customer service or price, my interactions have been quite positive, and I hope to see unnecessary billing errors ironed out swiftly.

We bought our home in 2019, and our Realtor advised us to consider an extended home warranty, and Old Republic was his suggestion. We've stuck with them ever since.

When I submit a claim, I typically do so over the phone. The process is seamless; prompts guide me through, and I rarely need to speak with someone directly. On the occasion I did, reaching a representative was straightforward, ensuring a frustration-free experience.

The contractors they've provided have been exceptional. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about using them rather than selecting my own, but I've been pleasantly surprised—they've proven to be both professional and efficient.

Our most recent claim involved an issue with our air conditioner. We have two units, and the upstairs one started acting up. I placed a call, and despite calling late in the day, a contractor came the next morning. My husband handled the visit since I was at work, and he was very satisfied with the service.

I would absolutely recommend Old Republic to a friend; I've already done so. Their service is top-notch, making it easy for us to maintain our extended home warranty. Moreover, their flexibility in payment—whether monthly or full payment up front—has been greatly appreciated.

In the past, we faced a plumbing issue when plumbing wasn't covered under our warranty, yet Old Republic offered a reimbursement, which worked smoothly. Now that they've included plumbing in their coverage, our experiences have been nothing but positive.

The contractors don't cut corners; they diagnose fully before proceeding, making sure every step is thoroughly considered. There was a time we thought our gas hot water heater needed replacing, but after a detailed examination, the contractor identified and resolved the real issue with a thorough clean-up, saving us from unnecessary expense.

Old Republic's service has been nothing short of excellent, and we've made it a point to renew our plan. Having such a reliable service eases our mind as homeowners and ensures our continued commitment to Old Republic.

Ultimately I’ve been very happy with my warranty as it’s been very well received and needed. My main issue is the lack of contractors in my area, which has caused having to have additional contractors come out for the same work. The other issue is ORHP really needs to look at the reviews contractors have online and kick ones with awful reviews to the curb. Because they’ve definitely demonstrated what the reviews indicate. While ORHP has paid for repairs, some of the repairs boggle my mind. In that they’d rather approve and $800 repair in a microwave that’s 15 years old instead of investigating the cost of a new one of only $225! Why they would even consider paying to repair one of that many years; especially, when they have to pay extra travel expenses for the distance really blows my mind.

Seriously if they want to waste that much money, I’d rather receive the $800 and go get my own appliance and have it installed. With that amount I could have also replaced my oven and microwave on $800. I have no clue how much they paid for someone to install my ceiling fans because they had someone from Birmingham install them which is an hour away. But I’m afraid to ask after the microwave issue.

My last issue is there’s NO excuse having to wait on the phone for an hour or hour and a 1/2! It’s not just the customer but also the repairman. Seriously my repairman installed 2 ceiling fans and he was on hold for the entirety of the repair! That’s completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Either hire more phone personnel or have a way to email you or put you in line for a return phone call. NOBODY should ever have to be in hold that long hence you call every time!. When it comes to paying according to their outlaid statements I say they’re dependable. Just the other issues I think are a waste of money or poor with customer service.

We've been with Old Republic Home Protection for about ten months now and have had a couple of claims. Overall, submitting a claim is straightforward, either online or over the phone, which has made the process hassle-free. But I found using their website a bit cumbersome compared to phoning in, Our interactions with contractors have been mostly positive. We've had vendors show up promptly, addressing issues like pinhole leaks in copper pipes efficiently. Although it took about a week at first, the subsequent visit was handled within a couple of days. The quality of the service from these contractors has been notably high, as evidenced by the successful repairs of our pipes and a central vacuum issue.

One negative experience occurred when we faced water damage soon after buying our house. The former owners left us with water damage and leak coming out of the ceiling that they had identified as an HVAC leak. So we called Old Republic and said that we had an HVAC problem. When the first vendor who came out, it ended up not being an HVAC leak, but he was very abrupt. He was here for five minutes and said that it was a plumbing issue, not HVAC. Then he was out of here. He left us on a Saturday morning of a holiday weekend with a leaking pipe and no recourse. And he didn't speak a lot of English. So we had to call back to the office and didn't find out until after the holiday what the issue was. Then, Old Republic sent a plumbing guy out a few days later who resolved the situation adequately.

Overall, Old Republic has provided us with great peace of mind. The ease of getting repairs done when unexpected issues arise is invaluable, especially for an older home. Minus the one anomaly, the support and repair services have been exceptional. I appreciate that Old Republic is effortless to work with and responsive, ensuring skilled professionals handle the work.

I was a policyholder with Old Republic Home Protection for one year and submitted five claims during that time. Unfortunately, not a single claim was handled smoothly. Each time, the company seemed more focused on finding ways to avoid covering legitimate costs than on honoring the policy. The service providers they sent out were often incompetent and appeared more interested in collecting the $100 trade fee than actually resolving the issue. Even after I filed a formal complaint about one technician and documented my experience, Old Republic sent the same person back for a later garage door claim. On top of that, when I followed their procedures exactly and submitted an invoice, the reimbursement check was for less than the billed amount—with no explanation provided.

In my experience, Old Republic does everything possible to nickel-and-dime customers and exploit loopholes in coverage. I have never dealt with a company that makes it so difficult to use the very coverage you’re paying for. Needless to say, I did not renew my policy. I strongly urge new homeowners to consider other options—you don’t want to face the same headaches, delays, and added costs I did while under Old Republic’s coverage.
