We purchased a matching washer and dryer about 6 years ago from a local Lowe’s store. We paid a bit more for it because we remembered all of the old commercials about never needing a repairman. Boy were we wrong! Washer went silent last Thursday. It took forever to arrange for the repair. The local guy Maytag recommended walked in and before even looking at the machine commented it was the control board and he has to fix those “all the time “ He said the part needs to be ordered and he could say when it would be here. He charged us $65 and never called back to say when the part would be here. Now I have a house full of dirty laundry and the thought of going to a laundromat sickens me! I wish we forgot about the old commercial and bought the extended warranty. I wish we had read the reviews first!
I purchased a Maytag Bravos XL approximately 10 years ago, then I noticed rust under the surface paint, then later it started to leak, when looked at it had major rust issues, a washer that rusts. What a shame. Maytag used to a product you could rely on. Now it's junk. Actually had to use silicone to try and stop the leak. Never buy one again. Buyer beware.

My Maytag dryer is the best of the best. I would not buy any other brand in washers or dryers. They will last you and will hold up and outperform the other brands. I have bought other brands. They do not compare.
I purchased a Maytag Dryer from LOWE'S in December of 2022. The dryer has a one year manufacturer's warranty. In March of 2023 the dryer started to malfunction. In April I had Maytag tech come to my home and diagnose the issue IT is the timer switch that keeps tripping my circuit breaker causing it to shut down Model number MD4500MW. This part is on back order. They do not have it in stock. So now I am spending money at the laundromat.
Dryer has "stuck motor" according to the repairman. Contacted Maytag based on motor being covered under 10 year warranty. Stated the motor is on back order until possibly June. After hours on hold and talking to various people (refused to let me talk to supervisor saying they were in contact with one) I called the Maytag parts department in the same 1-800 number and was told the part was not on backorder. Called warranty service again and they said it was but they would try to get in 21 days. I can get it from Amazon (genuine part) in one day and they can't get it; this is their way of not honoring their warranty. Who can be without a dryer for 2 months! This is not the first Maytag product that I have had problems with.
I own a high efficiency washer and dryer set, bought new 2 years ago. I leave it on high water fill and double rinse. Any dark clothes need a 3rd rinse, then a good brushing with my hands to get the white spots out. It happens EVERY TIME. I am thoroughly disgusted with my washer and plan on selling this and get a new set. I am not a fan of the dryer either. I mean, who designed this stuff? A man?! A lint trap in the top of dryer? Every time you take it out to clean, you have to get your duster out as well to clean off the top of your dryer. I am
We bought this Maytag washer/dryer set 3 years ago in February. There is only 2 people in our household so not a high demand on the appliances. Put a load of laundry in today and everything started going haywire, showing several different error codes, stopping mid-cycle. Called customer service and was advised to unplug and reset circuit breaker. After doing that, machine wouldn't come on at all. Called appliance repair, they came out and was told the entire control panel needs replaced at a cost of $311.00 just for the part and another $200 for labor and trip charge. Will take a week to get the part. Talked with a supervisor at Maytag and expressed our dissatisfaction in a 3-year-old washer that had a major component go out in such a short time. Which is not covered under the 1-year warranty, not covered under extended warranty either.
Maytag refused to do anything with the exception of offering a 15% coupon to buy a new machine, like I would buy another one of these. Told them we would never purchase another Maytag appliance and would advise others not to buy either. The products they produce today are not worth it, they don't stand behind the product and the product is poorly made. The old washer we replaced with the Maytag was 15 years old, never had major repairs on it. We thought Maytag was a strong reliable brand, we were wrong. After 3 years it is costing us almost 85% of a new one to repair. We will buy anything BUT Maytag in the future.
After four years our Maytag washer would not advance from Sensing to filling the machine. We had a repairman come out and, after trying different things, he said it was either the motherboard or the valve and he could order both parts. The total would be $700+. We paid for his visit and immediately went out to buy another brand at only a little more of the cost for the Maytag repair. This time we bought an extended warranty. What an expensive mistake.
Our 2 year old Maytag washer failed in Dec. 2022. Maytag was contacted and they had a technician come out. He said there was sediment on the pump, cleaned it out and put it back on. He turned it on and it worked and he left. We ran 3 loads of laundry and it quit working again. I took the pump off and cleaned it again (I couldn't find anything in it). I put it back together and it did 2 loads of laundry and quit again. By the 4th time it wouldn't work at all. I contacted the service provider and they ordered a pump. According to them it was on backorder. It is now March 27 and the washer is still inoperable as we do not have the new pump.
I have been on the phone with the service provider and Maytag multiple times (the wait time on the phone with Maytag is ridiculous) with no success. I finally contacted a different service provider and they said they could have a pump by this Wednesday (I'm not holding my breath). We finally went and found a used washer to replace our fairly new one. After this experience I will never purchase another Whirlpool/Maytag product again.
The machine has all kinds of options for cycles, temperature, special options, etc, but nowhere for a water level selection. The washer has an extra large basket for washing large loads and comforters, but no options for water levels to accommodate a large load. I am adding 5 to 6 gallons of water to the machine to get enough water to wash the large loads. I can just wash small loads and this will work takes twice as long, but how do you divide a comforter?
Many times I have hand washed special items and put them in the washer on a spin cycle to get extra water out. Not possible to do this on this machine. Several times I have lost my detergent because I did not get the machine loaded before it timed out and the machine emptied. This is tricky when having to add water to basket. If you leave the lid open too long it will just drain out. There is a short window of opportunity. It is a game of constantly tying to trick the machine to keep it from timing out. When I wash my comforter, there will not be enough water to thoroughly was the comforter. It will be compressed during the cycles causing excessing wrinkling. Sometimes dirt will be in the folds. I have a Maytag Commercial washing machine with bells and whistles. Just wish it had basic washing options.
