Consumer Complaints and Reviews
This place is not accommodating to those with disabilities. While I was not the one to fall victim to this business owner, there was an incident 2 days ago where a veteran was turned away because he had a service dog. The veteran and his wife tried to explain the laws to the owner, but he did not care. The next day, the owner boasted a nice dinner on the beach instead of going and educating himself on service animals. He said that the only real disabilities are visible and apparent. This is not correct. MANY disabilities are invisible and not readily apparent, such as the PTSD that this veteran suffers with. Please, do not shop here. Do not give your money to someone who discriminates against disabilities and veterans.
Had some nice items. However, they illegally asked us to leave due to my husband having a service dog! Used the excuse that the owner’s wife was allergic. However, per the Americans with Disabilities Act that is NOT allowed. East Coast Appliance welcomed him right in. Sad thing, the reason why we went to Dr. Johnny’s rather than Home Depot (where we also have never had an issue) was that we heard they had good service and being a small business owners, we like to support other small business owners.
PS: I will let my reputation speak for itself . 25 years in business with this one silly cheap complaint, think about it and get real .
On 1/7/09, I was having some problems with my stove at my house. The problem was that I was not getting fire for my oven, whereas before I could bake or roast anything in it. It appeared to me that I needed my pallet lit. However that was only a guess that I was thinking. So instead of calling my home warranty company, I decided to call Dr Johnny’s, thinking that it was a cheaper way for me to solve the problem. However, I was wrong. After speaking with someone at Dr Johnny’s, I was told that someone would come out to my house on the following day, 1/8/09.
On that next day, a person came out to my house as was planned. This guy examined my stove and came up with all the things that were supposed to be wrong with my stove. And after doing so he came up as well with an estimate for the work that needed to be done to my stove. And that was between $350.00 and $400.00. At that point, I decided that that amount was too much for my pockets. And that I would be better off going with my home warranty and pay the deductible.
At that point, the guy that was sent out to my house wrote a bill up for fifty dollars but asked for 66.00 dollars or 67.00 dollars. The reason for him not getting the $66.00 or so was only because he did not have change. But he stated on his work order that I refused to pay or that I didn’t want to pay him. After finishing with him, I then went on calling my home warranty company. They dispatched a man the very next day and I had to pay $80.00 deductible. What this guy came up with by surprise and just like I thought from the start, was all I needed to be done was to light the pallet and push a button. What I’m saying for short is that this company tried charging me for work that I did not need. And if I did not use them, then I had to pay a house call, which they got.
I have come to the conclusion, that these people are robbing a person without a gun. Also let me add that I went back to their store and spoke with the owner or manager. However, they said that they would check into this matter and do whatever was necessary, but had failed in getting back to me. There is no telling how many people have been victims of this.
