Thank you for sending your consumer incident report to ConsumerAffairs.com. An email containing the text of your report has been sent to the email address you supplied. You may wish to print the report or save it as a file for your permanent records.
Your report will be reviewed by our editors and legal counsel who in turn may refer it to a person who concentrates in the particular subject area. It is possible an attorney will contact you for additional information. You are under no obligation to the attorneys and will not be charged for their initial evaluation.
When we receive a report from our legal consultants, we may advise you of a procedure or course of action, but we cannot give legal advice. Please keep in mind that we are not providing your with legal advice and there is no attorney-client relationship between us. We use the attorneys' evaluation in our newsletters and Web sites and their evaluation does not constitute legal advice to you. You should always consult an attorney familiar with the laws in your locality.
The attorneys are sometimes able to file class action lawsuits representing all consumers affected by a particular company's specific actions. It may take many months, or even years, for this to happen, so just because you do not hear from someone immediately does not mean that no action will be taken.
Please note that we are not a mediation service and do not routinely work directly with companies to straighten out consumer complaints.
Besides assisting in the formation of class action lawsuits, our site assists consumers by aggregating large numbers of complaints, making it possible to see trends that would otherwise not be apparent. We publish selected complaints to illustrate these trends -- and to help other consumers avoid them. We also work closely with the news media to help reporters prepare stories about consumer problems. If you are contacted by a reporter who has been referred by our site, you are not obligated to speak to the reporter and if you choose to do so, you may request that your name not be used.
We also work with regulatory and law enforcement agencies and may forward your complaint to an agency that we believe may be helfpul.
Thank you again for your report. We keep all of the reports we receive and review them constantly to find patterns of abusive and misleading behavior that works against the best interests of consumers, so the information you provide will benefit others and may help them make sound consumer decisions.
Since we are not always able to contact individual consumers with follow-up information, we publish a free weekly newsletter which is distributed by email. Your subscription will be automatically entered. We never sell or lease names on our list and we do not use it for any purpose other than distributing our weekly newsletter. However, if you do not wish to receive the newsletter, directions for canceling your subscription are included in each week's edition.
