I’m a new bistroMD customer and needed some help signing up for meals. Luckily, I spoke with Emily in customer service. I was immediately impressed with her energy and friendliness. Great experience! Emily explained meal selection in an easy to understand manner. She also sent me some great information by email. It’s rare to see a customer service person go above and beyond: Emily did. bistroMD is lucky to have Emily on the team!
We're happy to hear that Emily went above and beyond to assist you! Thank you for sharing your experience and for choosing bistroMD!
I don't know how this would compare to any competitors. I did do Freshly for a while (which I do not consider competitive) and Freshly food is infinitely better. I would say I liked perhaps 15% of the food, hated 20%, and the rest was what I expected from a diet food company (no taste as opposed to bad taste). The worst thing about this company is the deadlines. They require 7 - 10 days to make any change in your plan. But they're only sending you a week at a time which means it's impossible to fairly evaluate where you're at and still make the change you want. Either they are blitheringly incompetent or just dishonest. It seems designed to keep you on the hook for at least a week longer than you want.

We hope you choose to try bistroMD again in the future!
I sincerely appreciated Sylvana who assisted on my inquiry. She took care of my issue very efficiently by removing an order that I wasn't comfortable with keeping in place. Huge thanks to this company for their awesome customer service.
Deborah, we're very glad that you had a positive experience with us! Thank you for your review!
I’ve had great experiences with this company. So many companies nowadays seem to do as little as possible to get by. My experience with this company is that they go far & beyond to assist their clients, their customers, the people that keep them in business. I give props to Patrick for giving me great service particularly. Thank you!
Gloria, we're pleased that you've had a positive experience with bistroMD. Thank you for allowing us to serve you!
Customer Agent Patrick was extremely pleasant and spent a great deal of time with me educating me on the program customizing the program that I wanted and Made ordering so easy. I was guided every step of the way on the website, a wonderful experience being involved in this program. Looking forward to receiving my first week.
Rita, we're thrilled that you're off to a strong start and that Patrick was so helpful to you! We're honored to be part of your wellness routine. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, we're here for you every step of the way. Thank you for your review!
I have tried other weight loss programs and so far the food from bistroMD is far superior. The portions are large and the flavors are delicious. Customer service is top notch. They are quick to answer and always ready to answer any and all questions.
Kathy, thank you so much for your review! We're thrilled that you're enjoying bistroMD. It's an honor to be part of your wellness routine!
I had questions about my meals. Every question was answered quickly and very detailed. Chris was easy to talk to and was able to assist me in all of questions and concerns. Chris showed a concern about my problem and was able to assist me. I would call him again if I had any questions or concerns.
Linda, we're thrilled that Chris was able to assist you & you're happy with your experience! Thank you for your review and for choosing bistroMD. We wish you continued success on your wellness journey!
I saw some good reviews but should have visited more sites before I ordered. The food is TERRIBLE! Out of the 42 meals I tried, only 2 or 3 were decent. About 6 I could not choke down and had to throw away - slimy texture, tasteless, gooey... disgusting. The rest were only edible if I pan fried them with butter/oil to get rid of the nasty texture and also used a TON of spices in an attempt to improve the flavor. I followed their suggestions - thawing the frozen meals overnight, using an air fryer or a hot logic oven - to no avail. Please save your money and DO NOT ORDER. They have a Facebook support group that you have access to once you buy the food but they DELETE any negative comments. This happened to me multiple times. I suggest buying Fresh & Lean or The Fresh Plan.
Hi there, we're very sorry that you did not enjoy your bistroMD experience. We strive to provide the best quality products and service in the industry. Every bistroMD meal is crafted in small batches with quality ingredients, and we never sacrifice the quality of our meals to cut costs. We understand that everyone's taste preferences are unique, which is why we offer a wide variety. We're sorry that bistroMD was not the best fit for you.
I purchased 10 low sodium meals for my elderly father with multiple health conditions. He has thrown away everything he's attempted to eat because the food is dry, overcooked and inedible. The salmon and tilapia is leathery and tough. The eggs were dry, the sausage was hard and even trying to put water on the food before reheating it didn't help. The flavors are bland. When I emailed customer service to express my dissatisfaction, I was told that everyone's taste buds are different and that they suggested he add salt to flavor his low sodium meals! I am not sure whose taste buds would enjoy dried up fish for $16. Maybe a cat? This is a much needed service, but unfortunately, Silver Cuisine by Bistro MD is doing a terrible job.
Alissa, we're very sorry that your father did not enjoy his low-sodium meals. If the texture of the meals is an issue because of microwaving, we strongly encourage to try heating the meals in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes from frozen or 20 minutes from thawed. He may find that works for him! We appreciate you trying our brand and wish you well!
With the exception of the meals including a chicken breast all the other meals are bland and have a strange pet food like texture. Very disappointing. Customer service was rude and not at all helpful. I have used many meal delivery services and was looking forward to a healthy option. It doesn't even matter if it's healthier because you won't want to eat it.
Barbara, we're very sorry that you're unhappy with your experience. We want to assure you that every bistroMD meal is crafted with high-quality ingredients and balanced nutrition to taste great and be good for you! We're disappointed that you were not satisfied with your experience and will use your feedback to improve. Thank you for trying bistroMD!
You can't see the meals until you purchase their plan. After a plan was purchased that's when I realized there were limited choices for someone who can't eat eggs or cheese, and doesn't eat fish. They were extremely rude on the phone and just couldn't believe someone didn't eat those items. I tried to offer a solution but was rebuffed even more rudely. Tried to cancel, and all this happened in less than 30 minutes after signing up, and was told too bad, you'll be charged because it's past the deadline for canceling. Didn't get to pick meals or remove things I can't eat, and canceled in less than 30 minutes from signing up and I didn't meet a deadline? What deadline? They don't even give a deadline. Maybe you have to cancel within 30 seconds of signing up...
I have no idea because it's not listed anywhere on their website. Even though they think they will be charging me because I failed to cancel immediately after I signed up, my credit card company will definitely have something different to say about their antics. Avoid signing up for BistroMD, especially if you have any food issues or dislikes. Who wants to deal with rude people anyway?
Chris, we're very sorry this was your experience. We take pride in offering a friendly, US-based customer service team to assist you in a timely, professional manner. We apologize if this was not the experience you received and we will use your feedback to improve.
This meal plan is top notch. I am currently on the 7 day plan with snack. I am amazed by the taste and array of food available from bistroMD. My weight loss has been very steady (16 pounds), and I am completely satisfied throughout the day. I find that my cravings for sweets and wine have completely waned in a very short period of time (6 weeks). The sustainable packaging is amazing, and I find that my food arrives fully frozen every time. It is not inexpensive, but no more costly than meals out, weekly groceries and the average person's trips to Starbucks in a week. If you are in the right mindset for a change, this plan is so easy to follow.
Robin, thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled that you're enjoying bistroMD and seeing great results. Your dedication to your health is inspiring and we appreciate you sharing your journey with others. It's an honor to be part of your wellness routine!
The Heart Healthy program is low fat and "low sodium" only. They DO add salt to the meals. Every meal has fish, chicken, turkey, bison, or pork, with the exception of 2 tofu recipes, in this plan. There is a lot of meat in each meal. A Mediterranean diet, often recommended by cardiologists for heart patients, recommends fish and poultry weekly, which I would consider not more than about 3-5 meals, as it is not in the Daily category. It considers red meats (including pork) only monthly.
With the Heart Healthy program from Bistro MD, you will have meat in every single lunch and dinner meal, except that occasional tofu. This amounts to 14 meals a WEEK of meat, far more than recommended by most cardiologists. There are NO vegetarian meals available. A lot of the meals have eggplant. Most of the breakfasts have eggs, which are also in the weekly category for Mediterranean diets, not daily. Basically the BistroMD diet is a modified Keto diet, as I was told by them. Also, the meals are quite large, and I found myself forcing down the meals. Their recommendation was to split it up into 2, and eat the rest 2 hours later. They have 3 meals and 2 snacks, each about 2 hours apart. That would mean eating 6 times a day, which is a LOT!
There is a Facebook "support" group, but they will remove any post that garners too much negative talking, so do not expect to be able to get support from others in the group for an issue you are having. They want you to contact them instead, which I did. In 3 calls, none of them had any real knowledge of what eating heart healthy really was, and considered their low sodium and low fat diet a heart healthy one. In my opinion, that's a normal healthy diet, and not tailored to what anyone needing a heart healthy program should have. You can tailor your program to only have lunch and dinner, no snacks, etc. But you will still have meat in every one.
In the 4 weeks that I was able to choose from, the recipe choices did not change, there were no additional new recipes. They do source good products. The meals tasted pretty good, but I had given 5 stars to only one breakfast and one dinner/lunch. I stopped the program after not even finishing one week, and still have a week coming, as I had to order pretty far out. They cancelled my third week (that was already on order) and refunded it. I did lose 2 lbs in the first week, not uncommon for me when doing any kind of mindful eating. I had diarrhea twice in the first week, each time after one of the tilapia meals. I did eat a different tilapia meal, in between those, with no issue. That has never happened to me before without having the flu. I did the full menu for the first week. The second week I dropped to lunches and dinners only. One meal wasn't sent and another meal was duplicated.
I had such high hopes for this weight loss plan, but ultimately was left disappointed. You can not choose the week you want to start the meal delivery nor the day you want it delivered. I was charged for my second week before my first week's order even arrived. When I wrote customer service asking for an explanation I never received a response. This all might have been forgiven if the food was at least good. While I don't take issue with the serving size of the meals (it's a weight loss program after all) I couldn't overlook the taste. Most of the meals were just plain terrible. Eggs were rubbery, mac and cheese had a weird texture, grits an insult to all southerners, veggies undercooked and bland. The best of the meals were "meh" at best. I just could not force myself to eat this mess for the next 4 to 6 months. No one is going to stick to a food plan that is unappetizing.
Over priced TV dinners. The first one I tried almost made me throw up. I was driving while eating it too so not the ideal situation. It was a bagel with egg. The bagel tasted like cardboard. So dry I gagged and really struggled to force it down. The only reason being is because it was so expensive. It comes out to about $11 a meal. The meals are tiny and not diabetic friendly like I expected. Full of carbs. 'Cause carbs are cheap. I tried the pork tenderloin just a bit ago, again it was terrible. The sauce with the meat was runny, watery, and mixed with the mashed potatoes (which you can tell are the boxed spuds). The other side was unseasoned raw green beans. Tiny portion of meat. I couldn't believe that slop cost me $11. You can kind find better quality meals at the grocery store frozen aisle for half the price. I'm so disappointed.
I was hoping this plan was going to help me get a hold of my diabetes and help me lose weight. They claim that a dietitian is meal planning for you, customizing your meals to help "heal" your metabolism, help manage medical conditions and help you lose weight. Not the case at all. They just throw some random, tiny frozen TV dinners in a box and charge you three times what they worth. It's a disgusting scam.
Not trying to lose weight. Simply trying to avoid cooking all the time. The best thing about bistoMD is the website. The entrees simply don't taste right. Nice label makes one want to dive right in. But with a paucity of exceptions, the entrees cheat the palette and end up being consumed by wild things in the rear of the property. After trying to avert the Sat Fat, sugar and extreme spice in the ordering process, are made for Selling. Certainly not Eating. Caveat emptor.
I CANNOT BELIEVE the horrific food this company sends out. They advertise all these beautifully plated FRESH meals on their website, but what you get is a tiny, horrifically bad frozen dinner that does not even compete with the cheapest of frozen meals at the grocery store. What's worse, is that it's NOT HEALTHY. Cutting the portion is not a "chef-created diet"!! RICE NOT Diebetically friendly - white rice is not low-carb! Lastly, they charge $180 a week for this slop. There are so many other much better plans with real fresh food for less. This company needs to be charged with fraud.
After fighting with the billing department for over a week I am canceling my subscription. This company's website advertises a weekly rate of $104 for the program from the previous price of $139 plus tax and shipping. I have screenshots of the cost of the program I signed up for. The four weeks I have been a part of the program I have been charged $139+ per week. I have emailed the billing department numerous times and they have argued that the prices was never $104 even though that is what is on their website even at this very moment.
They refused to refund me the additional $35 a week I was charged and instead argued with me over the phone when I finally called in because I was getting nowhere with the staff via email. Not to mention the food was watery, tasteless and not very good for the price they are charging customers. I have since cancelled my subscription and will be leaving negative reviews warning everyone of the scam that is BistroMD. You will also be interested to know that BistroMD is NOT accredited by the Better Business Bureau and currently has an F rating with a slew of complaints from customers like me.
I researched probably about 40 prepared food delivery companies and came down to BistroMD. I have been on this program pretty much for over 6 months and lost a lot of weight and their food is superb....Biggest issues have had is communication with customer service and their answer is always "NO". Weeks after weeks they would send me identical meals when in fact they have hundreds to choose from. Why I ask. "That shouldn't happen,: she says. Well it does and continues to happen so their "nutritional specialists, etc." are not doing their job or their whole computer system is ** up.... SO I had to every week pick my damn items which takes a lot of time so I didn't get the same damn Seabass 4 times when they have 10 other fish options that week. And I continued to do that for month and was fine. Lots of glitches along the way but they always refunded the money which is not the answer to me.
I want my meals or it throws off my diet. They would come in warm at times as shipping got messed up. Dishes food comes in were cracked, substituting meals with other meals as they were out of stock. I have so many documented emails and recordings from them to prove my point, but not really worth it. Then I receive a notice the next shipment is going up in price and I said, "No way." They seemed not to give 2 ** if they lost a customer. After all this ** you want me to pay you more. SO this manager Kimberly told me NO and then I said I would go above and beyond her to the owners and I did but they are too much of a coward to respond to their customers. And the message came down the line to lower management and Kimberly got defensive and said tuff ** in other words....then a week later her email blocked me out of the portal and said no more communication with this company....
I would like nothing more than management to be fired and the owners listed to the customers....No reason why you locked me out and took away 200 a week in business. At this point I hope you guys go out of business and lose everything as remember "the customer is always right" And whether you like constructive criticism or not it works. This is so sad as their food is very good and it worked for me. RIP you cowards.
I just received my second lunch+dinner+snacks package (5 days), and upon opening one of the plastic food trays is broken open, so the rice that was in it fell out into the shipping box. Upon taking out the other meals *NOT A SINGLE ONE WAS SEALED*. My first delivery was much better, but one of the packages was also not properly sealed. When I contacted bistroMD, the person "helping" me said (paraphrasing) "We're sorry to hear you're having problems, we've refunded you $13.00 *as a courtesy*, but you can eat the food even if the seal is broken".
WHAT? I'm not paying $13-$15 per meal to not have it sealed. Anyone ever go to the grocery store and search for the opened frozen meals over the properly sealed ones? The food is overall not bad, but sending broken trays of food or unsealed trays is not sanitary, and for the cost bistroMD should be able to fix their packaging issues.
I Was very impressed when I read that it was created by a doctor, I spent 800 dollars on this nasty diet plan. The food came frozen and was damaged as it travelled for very long. I did not lose even one pound. So please save your money and time.
First it is important to know that the average hold time is over 20 minutes and the people that you reach clearly cannot resolve your issue. I received a notice on the website that they could not process my credit card. I then went online with my credit card company and it shows as being charged. Yesterday I called and held for 30 minutes and the agent continued to state that the card was declined. We then joined a call together with Chase and she was confirmed (on a recorded Chase line) that the card had been approved. Then we confirmed the billing address. She said she would get this resolved and get back with me.
Today I called, held for 20 minutes and this agent said that she showed everything that I just stated but that her supervisor said it was a bank error and the address and zip code they show on file is incorrect. I pulled everything up again and sent a screen shot. NOTHING. They still claim it is the bank's fault but a follow up call with the bank confirms the same thing they confirmed for the agent at Bistro MD yesterday.
I have been happy with the product and successful with the weight loss but I will NOT provide a different card while this shows on my current card. I have not yet decided if I will move on to another option to finish the 2nd 1/2 of my weight loss or not as they claim I will need to call them back (like I have another hour to waste) to provide another card to get my shipment.
Got my first delivery yesterday. Had two meals so far and both were just gross, tasteless, and really inedible. I canceled this morning, but it is already past the deadline, so I will be getting another shipment next week that I have to force down because I don't want to waste money. Do yourself a favor, if you are able, just buy those Cafe Steamers in the frozen section. They are way cheaper and they taste good.
I was pleased with my first few weeks of bistroMD meal deliveries. As a diet plan, it worked really well for me; I was not hungry, had plenty of energy, and was dropping 1-2 pounds each week. The quality was reasonable, and I liked most of what I received. But the last two weeks have been incredibly frustrating. Deliveries took ***8 days*** to ship from Indiana to Wisconsin via FedEx. Tracking info and delivery predictions were completely unreliable. In both cases a box of melted slop was eventually dumped outside my garage by FedEx. There is no solution and no recourse. It is not possible to upgrade delivery or request a different carrier.
I did get a refund from bistroMD for the first delayed box, and am expecting a refund for the second. I have also canceled my bistroMD subscription and am going to try Freshly next. They don’t offer nearly the same variety of meals, and they don’t offer breakfasts, but their prices are pretty good and you can choose the day you want your meals delivered. For busy people who need to know when perishable deliveries are arriving, that’s critical. I don’t understand why bistroMD is so weak in this area, but I am thoroughly disappointed and tired of dealing with them.
Day 4 of waiting for my food, I'm starting to suspect it may have not just have been FedEx's fault. Also, this company uses the same hidden trans fats as every other TV dinner company. Anytime you see 0g trans fats on a label they can legally hide up to 0.49g of trans fats in the food as part of the FDA. (If you don't want trans fats in your diet look for labels that don't even say 0g trans fats.) There's no RDA for trans fats, they are linked to Atherosclerosis. Even the heart healthy options have hydrogenated oils. Now we just have to ask if this is neglect or malevolence. In their attempt to check all the boxes they forgot the one about giving a crud about your health. This is near 200 dollars a week to starve. Just eat healthy organic, free range, grass fed food and end this nightmare.
I've been a customer of BistroMD for a long time, but their food trays are dangerous. They use low-grade food trays that become brittle under extreme cold (such as dry shipping). The trays shatter while being shipped in dry ice. The shards of sharp plastic become hidden in the food. The consumer can be severely hurt. I've complained to them about this matter in at least six emails however, profits mean more than the safety of their customers so they stick with brittle plastic trays. It's actually a shame because their food is better than most and their menu is extensive. I guess I will take an injured customer's lawsuit for them to change it.
I ordered BistroMD in an effort to lose weight. At the same time I ordered meals for my husband from Hello Fresh. There is no comparison, the Hello Fresh was just under $100. All the food was fresh and delicious. Then Bistro MD charged me $250 for the same amount of food, it was gross! Not edible! If anyone loses weight it’s because they just didn’t eat it! Bottom line, DON'T Order from them. They have terrible food, terrible customer service and it’s WAY overpriced!!
I subscribed to bistroMD meals for my parents, as they are both temporarily unable to cook for themselves, and I live hours away. After trying a couple of meals, they admitted the food was not good, and they needed to cancel the subscription. They didn't give me details about what was bad about the food. The customer service, on the other hand, has been very good from start to finish: I had trouble signing in after creating an account, and I was connected with customer service almost immediately; I asked for clarification on the deadlines for cancellation, having read some reviews that the food was bad, and their customer service team cancelled my account preemptively (meaning my parents would get only one week and no further meals and charges) and gave me the info to sign up to continue the service if needed. Customer service has been both quick and helpful.
BistroMD I wanted to take the time to tell you how much I enjoyed my first box of BistroMD meals. There are however a couple of issues that deserve your attention. I waited until Monday to start enjoying my meals but was delayed almost a week. Here’s why. I pulled out the breakfast from the freezer with difficulty because the printing of the meal's name is hard to read because it has little contrast and the lighting in the kitchen from overhead casts of shadow from the top of the refrigerator preventing any light on the package name. I went looking for a flashlight to help me read the food titles and, naturally it was out of batteries. I called my daughter and she didn’t have any either so I got on Instacart and ordered some double A batteries from Albertsons. They didn’t come until the evening so I had to wait until Tuesday morning to start my meals.
Using my flashlight to illuminate the title of the meal I pulled out my ‘bacon and potato egg scramble’ and looked for the cooking instructions. They were nowhere to be quickly found. After a thorough search I found them under the list of ingredients but, unfortunately, they were too small to read. I got my glasses and still couldn’t read the printing. I didn’t have a magnifying glass so I called my daughter who lives a few blocks away to ask her if she had a magnifying lens. She said she had one but had loaned it to her son who had not yet returned them. She offered to call her neighbor to see if they had a magnifying lens. They didn’t have one either so she offered to go to Walmart to find one.
Apparently Walmart’s magnifying glasses were way too expensive just to read the cooking instructions on your meal package so I went to Amazon on my computer and they had one for $11.99 which I ordered with one day delivery. It was actually Thursday before it arrived at my house. I quickly unwrapped it and read the instructions. I decided to start my meals on Friday. I started my meals on Friday morning. I finally got to try the very tasty bacon and egg scramble. All of the other meals were just as tasty. So, in conclusion allow me to recommend a few suggestions to make the BistroMD experience even more enjoyable.
1. Enclose or attach a small magnifying glass to be able to read the cooking instructions.2. Enclose or attach a small flashlight to be able to read the title of the meal inside the refrigerator.
3. Increase the thickness of the clear meal covering to make it easier to remove.
4. Print whether the meal is breakfast, lunch or dinner under the meal name in case I have misplaced the calendar.
Again, let me congratulate the BistroMD meals. They are truly an Epicurean delight.
John
I received my 1st order and tried their food, it wasn’t very good at all. Some meals I couldn’t eat after heating them up, they were just not edible. I told myself to try it for one more week to see if the next selection of meal would be better... more of the same garbage. Look at the photo, I can’t even tell what that is!! Now here is where it gets very shady... My 2nd delivery arrived Saturday May 15th. I decided to cancel the following Monday, May 17th, Somehow, right after I canceled my order and received my confirmation email that my subscription was canceled, the 3rd order magically shipped out. Keep in mind I had only received my 2nd week’s order two days prior to the 3rd weekly order being shipped out. I called to correct this and they told me there was nothing they could do to help and they will not refund me my money. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!
- They will try to scam you out of your money!
I recently gave Bistro MD a try. The food just isn’t good. Many of the meat pieces in the dishes were gross looking and feeling. Plus, I spent a lot of time customizing my menu after my first week’s order. When it arrived, my menu preferences were not updated. After waiting on customer service for 20 minutes, they offered me 15 % refund. It is so disappointing to spend $200 on food I don’t want. Bistro MD gets an angry thumb down from me.
It costs over $200 a week. They don't send you the meals you choose, they don't send food out on the same day AND they ship food out on Fridays so it takes 3 days to get to you. They don't use enough dry-ice. If the whole reason you want to do this is to stick to a diet, this isn't the company. They will blame shipping irregularities on the shipping company but they send the food out on different days - the shipping time is the same. The packers don't pick and pack the correct food. You're paying top dollar for problems you can get anywhere for a cheaper price and feed more people. It's an expensive hassle and an expensive lesson.
The food is just awful and the service is nonexistent.. Left several messages and emails to complain about no labels on some deserts and duplicates.. No response. They obviously don't care about after sale service. Look elsewhere. The food made me sick when eaten. Threw it all out.
I am giving my absolute 100% true experience with BistroMD. I needed to lost 10-15 COVID pounds and thought this looks good and low carb so I can get the weight off quickly. The food is OK, some good and other meals I had to dump. The shocking part is that you cannot get the food on the lists. My first week there were a couple of substitutions, the second week, even more and some things I could not eat which I had already told them about. Going onto the next week I went on the website to recheck my food choices because the deadline was upcoming and all my food choices were gone except 2, but previously I had picked all of my food and someone at BMD wiped all my choices out!
They basically had 4 choices for dinner and lunch left for an entire week and they have mostly eggs, eggs, eggs. I do not eat eggs but I was stuck and when I called they said they were having issues with procurement of the food. The clincher was that they had the nerve to call and tell me that I hadn't picked my food for the week!! I told the person on the phone that there was nothing left to choose, therefore I had no choice but to cancel, he said he did not see that I cancelled but he did it for me. I have used other food delivery services as does my husband and never have I seen this - no choices, no food?? Bad news.
The packaging is earth-friendly. The food is healthy and good. The portions are satisfying. I eat less garbage and extra food in general when I stick to their plan every day. I can avoid shopping for food at all with this subscription.
After doing much research, I really wanted to try cistroMD's Balance program. Their website states "We deliver anywhere in the continental United States that FedEx ships. Sorry, delivery to Alaska and Hawaii is not available at this time." I live in Colorado in a town of just under 20,000 people. Fedex and UPS both readily deliver to my zip code. However, when I attempted to place an order on Balance by BistroMD I was met with the statement "We're sorry delivery to your zip code is not available at this time." I thought perhaps this just was a temporary exception. However, a month has passed and they continue to not deliver to my zip code. I do not think they should state they deliver "anywhere" when this is clearly not the case.
BistroMD started are great and then progressively got really bad. They charged me incorrectly, the snacks are overpriced and not worth it. And to top it off, one of the weeks we ordered, they randomly changed 9 out of the 14 meals we had chosen. Unfortunately for them, we have cancelled the their service. I had one of their meals today and would have to say that it definitely is was not edible (Pineapple Chipotle Pork Street Tacos). I would definitely not recommend them.
Potential Bistro MD Subscribers Beware! The Hidden Truth Behind Bistro MD’s Misleading Marketing, Supply and Demand Issues, Poor Communication with Its Subscribers, and Frequent Meal Distribution Errors. I joined Bistro MD initially because I was sold on their concept of a healthy food plan with oversight from a dietician. I was also impressed with the beautiful photos of meals and snacks provided on their website.
I thought that as a subscriber to the Bistro MD program that a dietician would be responsible for creating a food plan for me each week, and that they would make sure that I was receiving a wide variety of breakfasts, lunch and dinner entrees and snacks. However, after receiving similar Bistro MD menus for several consecutive weeks, it occurred to me that this may not be the case, and I became increasingly frustrated and disappointed with Bistro MD.
The shipments of frozen meals that I received from Bistro MD each week contained primarily egg breakfasts, chicken-based entrees for lunch and dinner and meat jerky snacks. Some weeks even included multiples of the same meals. The quality and taste of the meals and snacks that I received from Bistro MD varied widely. Most of the breakfasts were good, however, only 50 percent of the entrees and snacks that I received from Bistro MD were decent and the other 50 percent were either of poor quality and taste or inedible. After a few disappointing weeks with Bistro MD, I began to lose interest in the Bistro MD program and repetitive weekly menus.
I contacted Bistro MD customer service by phone to inform them of my situation, and they told me that they were experiencing supply and demand issues, particularly from their Nevada based food distribution center, which apparently delivers Bistro MD meals to the state of California where I live. The Bistro MD staff encouraged me to modify my weekly menu manually to ensure that I would receive the breakfasts, lunch and dinner entrees and snacks that I desired. So, I carefully modified my weekly menu with the help from Bistro MD staff, and I felt very excited knowing that I would finally be receiving a diverse range of meals and snacks of my choice from Bistro MD the following week.
During my phone call with Bistro MD staff, they assured me that my weekly menu substitutions would be honored (which is an option that they claim to offer to subscribers) and that I would receive the meals and snacks that I selected with my shipment the following week. It is important to note here that none of the meal and snack substitutions that I selected in my account on the Bistro MD website indicated that they were “out of stock”.
However, the meals and snacks that I received the following week from Bistro MD were a BIG disappointment. My Bistro MD box contained mostly meals and snacks that I did not select, and it was once again filled with primarily egg breakfasts, chicken-based entrees for lunch and dinner, meat jerky snacks, and only a small percentage of the meals and snacks that I selected for the week. There was also no explanation provided by Bistro MD as to why I did not receive the meals and snacks that I selected. I found this to be unacceptable and infuriating! It also made me wonder why I was continuing to pay a premium for mediocre and repetitive weekly menus from Bistro MD that contained meals that I did not select or even like. Did Bistro MD expect me to continue to subscribe to their program and receive and accept whatever meals and snacks they decided to send to me each week regardless of my meal and snack selections? I wonder.
I contacted Bistro MD again this week to register another complaint about the shipment of random meals and snacks that I received from Bistro MD that were not the meals and snacks that I selected. I spoke with a supervisor from Bistro MD, and they informed me that other meals and snacks were sent to me due to low inventory, and that there was nothing they could do to resolve their supply and demand issue. They also claimed that the supply and demand issue was a recent issue that they had not experienced before. The Bistro staffer that I spoke with informed me that they would forward my complaint to their corporate office, and that they could not guarantee that anything would change in the future.
Based on the reviews I have read from other Bistro MD subscribers; it appears that Bistro MD’s supply and demand issue has in fact been an issue for a long time. Moreover, it appears that there are other issues as well that are contributing to so many dissatisfied Bistro MD customers including misleading marketing, poor communication with Bistro MD subscribers, and frequent Bistro MD meal distribution errors. Based on my experience with Bistro MD, I recommend that you avoid Bistro MD and look for other more reputable and reliable food programs. I hope that the information I have provided is helpful to you, and I wish you all the best on your journey to healthy eating and good health.
I was really looking forward to trying this company but was very disappointed. Some of the food was spicy and it was not mentioned in the description. Some of the meals had frost on them, none cooked evenly. Several meals came with broccoli and in each one the broccoli was burnt and some of the meals were soggy. The direction say to thaw in the refrigerator the night before for best results so I had to try and remember to pull my meals the night before. To get the full benefit of the program you have to buy extra snacks and with shipping it is like $200 a week. I found the quality and flavor well under that price.
BistroMD was wonderful in refunding all my money for these lost meals. They state that they have resolved the dry ice shortage and I am impressed with their Customer Service on this issue.
I started bistroMD in March 2020. I had a fabulous experience up until July 2020 when I could not afford to continue their weekly meal plan. I am on a fixed income and so I began purchasing through their SilverCuisine, a la carte. The month of August, I ordered 3 boxes and each one came one week late and fully defrosted. Since I am on a fixed income, I had budgeted my money expecting these meals. When the boxes came, one week late and completely defrosted I did bake two meals in the oven because I had nothing in my house, and I have difficulty getting to the store. I was sick for one week after eating this, horribly sick. I spent EVERY DAY on the phone the month of August with bistroMD asking if my boxes would be delivered on time.
They assured me they would, When they were NOT, the representatives told me, "there is nothing we can do about it, it is FED EX and there was a fire, it is Covid, etc...." They did refund my money, but what about my time and my health? bistroMD is going to get sued by someone who becomes ill after they send spoiled food to their home. bistroMD should not be promoting food service to seniors when they know the food is not going to be delivered in a usable condition. They did refund my money, but this is outrageous. By the way, I ordered food all of August and not one box came that was not spoiled.
I wish I would have found this site before placing my order. In web searches BistroMD is always in the top 10 recommendations. I have been trying different services, just seeing which ones I like and would like to stay with a few months. This one has been the worst. Food is bland, tasteless and you are always hungry. It is really high carbs too. I am not a low carb person, but lots of carbs. Food does come frozen, but you need to thaw in the fridge, at least the day before. So far out of the 4 I have tried, the one that arrives fresh at your door a couple times a week has been the best tasting and filling. Whoever came up with these meals might be a scientist, but not a cook.
They are an awful company who sent me warm melted food. The meat was warm and they did not provide any insulation. This company is complete fraud. They deleted my review and photos on Facebook. They denied anything wrong. They tried to cover it up. I even messaged the CEO with no response or apology. I finally had to contact the health department. DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU WANT FOOD BORN ILLNESS!!
Do Not order from this company. I will try and keep this as short as possible. So I signed up for their three meals for five day plan at $179.00. I submitted my billing and shipping address which are different from each other. Upon review when I received the email the shipping address was correct. First of all I was suppose to get the shipment the following Wednesday but it was not shipped until Friday. On Wednesday when I received the second confirmation email for the shipment they had somehow switched the addresses. Which meant the package was shipping to the billing address an old house where no one lives.
I called Fed Ex. They stated they had not received it yet only the label had been created. I called Bistro MD. They were useless, said they could not change it. I waited until fedex received the package. They were very helpful and willing to change the address or hold the package at their facility for pickup, but guess what? Useless Bistro MD put a restriction on it so the address could not be updated and it could not be held for pickup and only they can authorize a change.
I called bistro md back to see if they would call fed ex. No answer. Left voice mail. Only thing fedex could do was return to sender which they did. Bistro MD called me back finally and I let them know the issue. Their mistake but guess what – they refused to give me a refund, claimed they could not even though it is going back to them and I am not receiving anything. They also charged me for the second shipment that day even though I had not even received the first one. Cancelled my subscription and they claimed even though the second shipment is not scheduled to ship for over another week they can cancel but they cannot stop the second shipment or refund. Needless to say I have filed a fraud report with my debit card company to try and get both charges reversed.
I tried the food for three weeks and was not satisfied with the portions, which do not look like the photos. I had to add extra steamed vegetables to each meal to feel satisfied. I have not eaten so much trans fat, cholesterol, or sodium in the past two years. After using the WW diet and learning about good food, I did not find this very good. I don't like to cook and thought this would be more convenient, which it is. I did not approve of the snacks provided for an additional $28 a week. The cost is way more than it's worth. At $209. a week for 20 meals and still feeling hungry, I did not find it economical.
I ordered a week with a discount code. Their shipping was slow, the food is not outstanding, it's just like a dinner bought in a grocery store. I found some of them uneatable. Way too expensive for what they offer. I canceled my membership and second order.
I’ve tried Bistromd a few times for around a month at a time. Two separate times they sent me completely different meals than what I ordered. The first time I was doing five days of three meals with two snacks a day and 16 of my 25 items were wrong. At this time they apologized and said they’d credit my account for the amount that was wrong. They never do. This time when I started it up again with the same plan I got ONE meal and THREE snacks correctly and everything else was wrong, including a ton of seafood, which made me feel like they were just using me to get rid of unpopular meals that have been sitting around.
I contacted customer service asking to be refunded and they said I did not make changes in time for the deadline (which is NOT true as the dates the meals were said to be planned for was this week in question), but I have no proof and they are refusing to refund me. It's very frustrating because this plan has helped me lose weight and I would continue it if I didn’t feel like I was throwing around $170 a week on meals I won’t eat. This company made me feel like they don’t care about me, just the bottom line, by sending me unpopular meals they need to get rid of just to make a ton of money off of me. It’s not worth it. Don’t use this company!
Last summer I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Meal planning, shopping and preparation was daunting to me. As and a widow and 67 years old, I just no longer wanted to deal with all that, so just didn't know what I was going to do. I tried Nutrisystem (so awful there are no words for it). Then I found BistroMD, and what a relief! The meals arrive promptly after ordering via FedEx with dry ice and I enjoy 2 meals daily simply by using my microwave. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy this diabetic program (Silver Cuisine), not only for the ease and convenience, but for the absolutely delicious food and the selections I have to choose from. This company is so responsive and friendly when you reach out to them for any problem.
The cost may seem prohibitive for some, I being no exception - but by the time I calculated what the food I was buying at the grocery cost, and how much of it I ended up throwing away, the delicious selections available and the fact that my A1C has gone down significantly far outweigh the cost. I do have to cut corners in other areas of my life, but am happy to do so for the health benefits - not only the results I see in my blood tests, but I just generally feel so much better overall.
I found BistroMD because I wanted a complete meal program that was designed to help me lose weight and make it so that I never had to decide what to eat for myself or balance my own nutritional intake. It seemed like everything I was looking for. I was wary because I've tried other meal delivery services where I didn't actually like the food at all, but I read enough positive reviews of BistroMD to give it a try.
It has surpassed my expectations completely. I've had over 2 weeks worth of food now - that includes 3 meals and 2 snacks per day - and almost all of it is delicious. And this is coming from someone who dislikes vegetables and pretty much never eats them if another choice is available - these veggies are good. Not only that, but I haven't been feeling hungry. The first couple days were the hardest, but after that, I've been able to eat nothing but this food and feel fairly satisfied. Other diet plans - or grocery store frozen meals - I eat it and then feel hungry again an hour later. With this, even the snacks are good for at least 2-3 hours before I feel the need to eat again.
I can't say enough about how pleased I am. I have always had a hard time calling "healthy" meals good, but these really are. I look forward to eating them every day - and this is another great point. I have now seen 5 total menus and haven't had a single main meal repeated. Not a single one. For someone who needs variety and can't stand the thought of eating the same thing multiple days in a row, this is so great. If you're like me and need someone to tell you exactly what to eat in order to stick to a diet, I highly recommend trying this. I can now lose weight putting in no effort whatsoever - no planning, no shopping, no cooking, no food diaries - just unpack the box and heat the meals in the microwave - and I'm genuinely enjoying the food while doing it.
I put an order in for my elderly mother, who requires special meals for her heart. When two weeks passed without a delivery, I called Bistro MD & was told,
"Oh sorry ... we cancelled your account because we didn't have a full name for the customer". I did not receive a phone call, an email NO CONTACT WAS MADE WITH ME, WHATSOEVER to tell me any of this. We were simply dismissed by this company, because they didn't feel like following through. I cannot stress enough, how angry I am over this horrible handling of a customer account. They have lost our business and we will be sure to let others know about how inept and uncaring they are.
The food is horrible and their shipping policy doesn't work at all. I ordered my first delivery and it wasn't delivered until Monday of the following week. I tried the food and didn't like it at all. On the same day, Monday, I went to my on-line account and cancelled my account. On Tuesday I received an email saying my net shipment was in pre-shipment status. The tracking number had been created by FedEx but it had not been shipped. I called them and the operator told me that because it was done on-line I couldn't cancel but that if I had called in person I could have cancelled it. How in the world was I supposed to know that? Now I am going to be stuck with 20 meals that are inedible. I definitely would not recommend this company.
I recently signed up for the meal plan through BistroMD and Love it! It is convenient, great tasting food and snacks. If you follow the directions about putting your food in the refrigerator 12 to 24 hours for each day's meal, the food when heated is delicious! It's super convenient especially for lunch and dinner when you work 10 hour work days. The 1st week I lost 5 pounds! Looking forward to continue this plan to hit my ideal weight goal. The promotion for the 1st week is great. After that it is a bit pricey but worth it for the taste, packaging, delivery and healthy options. It is definitely worth giving it a try.
I was contacted by the shipping company for BistroMD who was not able to find my home. They had returned the box to the central warehouse. The central warehouse called me the next morning and told me that they did in fact find my location but would not be able to deliver until late that afternoon. They let me know that the box had been in route since Monday and delivery was scheduled for Thursday evening. Since it was perishable, it was their recommendation that I refuse it and call BistroMD to set up a replacement or refund. I agreed.
When I called BistroMD, they informed me that somewhere along the way I had agreed to receive ALL packages no matter what even though they had verified my information with the carrier. Refusing was not an option even under the circumstance of a risk of spoiled food. They offered to refund 50% of the cost of the food. The lady I talked to was rude. Kept referring to their policy of never refusing. I am extremely disappointed. It is said that good customer service is hard to find. And that is certainly true with BistroMD. Apparently, they prefer customers to eat spoiled food rather than lose any profit.
I received a nice flyer with a promotional offer and thought, what do I have to lose? The answer in my case is I lost a couple hundred dollars. The first week, my promo week, was full of learnings and mostly disappointments. The website could have made the low-carb options clearer, but I struggled through the app nonetheless and made my selections. Problem solved - right? Nope, when the customer service person received my email inquiry on low carb options, they reset the entire menu and it lost ALL of my tedious selections. So, I wasted another 30-minutes making selections again.
Problem solved - right? Nope, when I emailed customer service about desiring to drop the snacks from my program, guess what they did, reset my selections once again. So guess what happened? I lost all of my selections and ended up with items I would not have selected. My selections were clear and should have been saved or recreated regardless of the account changes. So now after my second shipment and the same issues, I now have a freezer full of frozen dinners that I will never try base on the fact they do not fit my dietary needs or preferences. I have emailed customer service for a refund or return option but have not received any response.
Now let’s talk about the handful of meals that I did try and eat. The first, chicken broccoli bake, it full of gristly-chicken and mushy rice with no flavor and resembles a porage texture. I emailed customer service on that one and they responded, "sorry you didn't like it". I'm not joking. For my delivery after that email, they sent me another one as their selection for me replacing my other selections. The buffalo chicken frozen meal isn't bad, and the salmon dishes were all of decent quality, taste, and size. The turkey dishes are bland, flavorless, small, and not satisfying. The dozen other meals will remain in my freezer until I hear back from BistroMD how to return for a refund since they were not my selections.
I have cancelled my account due to a poor experience with the website, customer service, and food quality. I did send one email last Friday requesting a return/refund for the dozen meals that I did not select. I have not received a response yet but if they do respond and provide a fair resolution then I will update this review to update others. I like seeing businesses pop-up to help bring healthy food options to busy people. I hope this business can determine how to provide that but from my 2-weeks experience they did not deliver a good solution from my perspective. Let's hope they take this criticism, provide a good solution, and make the necessary adjustments to improve their product, web application, and customer service. Despite these poor
BistroMD is outstanding. The meals taste great, portions are generous, the variety is sophisticated and phenomenal, preparation a snap -- could not ask for better. I'm on the diabetic program, and I'm amazed how their dietitians have put together satisfying meals with carbs so reasonable and protein so high. This is light years beyond Lean Cuisine in so many ways. Keeping a regular, healthy meal schedule to control blood sugar levels is challenging, and can be exhausting -- "diabetes fatigue" is a real thing. BistroMD really lightens the burden, and is a very good value for all you're getting.
Also outstanding support and advice available that really does make a difference, without demanding effort over-and-above using the meal plan. (Sure, there are a couple meals that fall into the "meh" category for me, but no big deal. I've cut back on # meals delivered to allow for some personal flexibility, i.e., breakfast of Greek yogurt/oatmeal in place of fairly heavy use of eggs in plan meals. But these are quibbles. Just including them so that you know my praise is with a critical eye.) My highest recommendation.
I don’t even like having to give this service a full star! My boxes arrived today with hot spoiled foods. I promptly called their customer service and after a very long drawn out discussion and being placed on hold a lot for lengthy time periods I was told they must research things then get back to me in a week or two. Seriously? So they may or may not refund or replace my things but in the meantime I’m out hundreds of dollars on orders I must throw away! This company is disgusting to treat customers this way. I understand they may very well be used to getting false complaints but they clearly didn’t wish to even discuss this with me today.
I actually had to bribe someone to cart off this smelly mess to a dumpster because I wasn’t about to let it stink up my house through the entire weekend and I wasn’t willing to place smelly spoiled hot meals in my clean freezer in the meantime. I started this out today willing to accept a replacement but after this I only want a refund because I lack any trust that they value customers! I would rather get a full refund and take my business elsewhere to a place that is better to customers and actually values them!
Fresh food plan created by registered dietitians and prepared by chefs is what they promise. Old, tasteless carb laced meals is what they deliver. What women approaching menopause could eat bagels, crepes, rice and pasta at every meal and maintain their weight much less lose? The reviewer who said meals are predominantly protein and plenty of veggies with limited carbs is not being truthful. The protein that is there is dried out and overcooked. These meals are not fresh, some have been frozen for a long time.
One major point of contention is that the cancellation date for the following week occurs before you even get your first delivery. That is a practice of a company that must get a lot of cancellations and wants to guarantee themselves at least two weeks of business. Finally, what they advertise you will be receiving for the week is not what you actually receive. Steer clear. $10 a meal for 10 oz of uneatable food is like throwing money away. Go to the hot bar at Whole Foods and get a couple of rotisserie chickens and a couple of pounds of fresh veggies and you will definitely come out ahead.
Recently began using the food service called BistroMD. The isn’t the best but not bad. They say you can put it on hold whenever you need to but watch out! When I tried to to put my service on hold got an astral week I didn’t want. They said I missed the the deadline. Then they realized I didn’t miss the the deadline but wait they go by eastern time. I live in the central time zone. I’m currently fighting them now. STAY AWAY!!!
My daughter bought this for me after I was in the hospital. She cancelled it and they still sent out two more weeks of meals and billed me 139.90 TWICE after the cancellation. I called customer service but they did not resolve the problem.
The food ranges from absolutely terrible to tolerable but not tasty. Three days after receiving my first delivery I cancelled my service and sent the company a note with my feedback. Their response was to add garlic powder and try other dishes. No thank you, I’m done and will probably trash the remaining food. Besides the bad taste it is highly processed and the ingredients appear to be poor quality.
This may not be a fair review as I’m only one meal in and I can’t eat it. It’s the turkey sausage and egg breakfast sandwich. I’ve eat 1/2 of it and that’s all I can force myself to eat. It makes me gag and I can’t even tell you what it is other than the smell and the taste. I’m so disappointed. I needed this to work for me but if you don’t like the taste you’re just not going to eat it and probably make poorer choices afterwards. I tried the plan for menopause, once I tasted it, I know I should have researched it more before buying.
I searched online for more info and found Consumer Affairs. If you can’t smell and have no taste buds this might work for you. But if that’s the case you wouldn't have found BistroMD because you wouldn’t have an eating issue, probably. I do hate to write negative reviews but people will want to know how it tastes. I’ve canceled too late and my second week will be shipped soon. As I said, this may not be a fair review only being a single meal in. I will attempt lunch and dinner and if I need to change this review I will.
I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. The food I received was completely unacceptable. Some of it was uncooked even after reheating and some meals were actually rotten to the point that they smelled so bad I couldn't even throw them out in the house. The food that was edible, can be compared to cardboard both in taste and quality. Nothing about this meal plan is fresh. I contacted customer service immediately after discovering this and never received a response. I had to reach out 2 more times and only got a response back when I told them I was going to the Better Business Bureau. At that point, they put the blame back on me and told me they wouldn't issue a refund. The company has a "satisfaction guarantee" but apparently that doesn't help protect unsatisfied customers.
I have recently begun with BistroMD and I have found not close to or ALMOST what I was on the search for, for pretty much years. I FOUND EXACTLY what I had been looking for. I DON'T care to cook. I DON'T care to plan and balance and coordinate calories and proportions and on and on. I know me, I WON'T stick to it. This has been EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED and I LOVE it. The packaging is hands down the BEST I've ever experienced. Your food will NOT arrive half thawed or warm. It is FROZEN SOLID! It is always arriving when they say. It is easy to substitute a meal you don't care from one of the over 100 other entrees. I recently realized I am even allowed to use breakfast as a lunch or dinner. AWESOME!!!
I'm a breakfast lover any time of day. Okay, someone said these are bland. They are NOT correct. I am LOVING the flavors. The last thing you could call this food is bland. I put mine on a plate and turn off TV and leave phone alone and I would swear a waiter just brought me out good restaurant food. For me being the only diner in my home-I am SAVING MONEY. I usually spend way too much at grocery store AND TOSS 1/2 of it as it spoils before I get to it. When you call to ask any questions they are the friendliness support staff you will ever encounter. My assistant and I laughed and giggled the entire call. Nope--I'm not a paid reviewer. That is unethical to me. I am very honest when I recommend products to friends and strangers. I cannot stand bad products and am upset when someone points me down a bad path. Don't know what else to say. This is hands down a FANTASTIC SERVICE!!!
I don't even understand why people bother with getting a box full of ingredients for same price and have to spend an hour preparing 3 items or more just to eat. NO THANKS. This is way to go! Oh! You WILL BE FULL AFTER YOUR MEAL!!! Guarantee. Drink your water as well but I promise you that you will be full and not get hungry between meals and there are snacks if you do. Last night I had turkey and I promise it tasted like I pulled out some fresh Thanksgiving turkey. Okay, hope this helps. I will return in a few weeks to review the weight loss aspect. I AM choosing to exercise in addition, as I was before I began plan so I will continue. I'm talking average exercise, not gym rat craziness. My cousin is considering this and I did agree with her that the web page can seem overwhelming but if you just slowly go through it, it becomes SUPER practical and easy and you can email, text or call them to boot.
If you're serious about beginning this plan or any other, you SHOULD be willing to take time to kind of study the website. GOOD LUCK to everyone. I am 100% positive that in 2 months I will be at goal weight and probably be very sad when I sign off of BistroMD. Who knows- it's SO easy and healthy I may just stay on it anyway--goal weight aside!!! LOVE BISTROMD!!! LOVE.
Biggest gripe is that bistroMD meals are super bland if you don't add salt or spices...and vegetarian meals are disgusting and rely heavily on soggy, slimy okra and eggplant. Each bistroMD meal costs about $10 dollars and you could easily get equally nutritious and better tasting frozen food from the supermarket for half the price.
Additionally, if you don't stay on top of customizing your bistroMD selections, they will slowly begin to send you more and more meals that no one else will intentionally order... The meals that they try to unload on you lean heavily on tilapia, okra, eggplant, and pasta. These meals are basically inedible slop... My dog will eat anything but he won't touch that bistroMD garbage.
Lastly, when bistroMD missed two shipments last month, instead of refunding $380, they just sent double shipments the next week. So, not only do I have to buy my own food the two weeks bistroMD failed to deliver, I also don't have room in the freezer for the double shipments when they actually show up. So like I said, stay on top of bistroMD or they will inevitably try to slip things by you.
BistroMD is the most amazing meal program that My wife and I have ever experienced. The menus are refreshed to keep our interest. Moreover, we can read all of the ingredients, which are “real foods” and nothing processed. We am totally perplexed as to why a few rate the meals/program below their expectations. The key to prep the entrees is the place items in your refrideration up to two days prior to consuming then follow the cooking instructions. Both my wife and I have tried several other plans and love BistroMd so much more than other plans. With our super busy schedules, this plan totally satisfies our hunger and satisfaction. We own a high volume grocery store and prefer these entrees for ease and freshness. This isn’t to say our store has inferior products, we simply love the simplicity and freshness of BistroMD... Keep up the great work. Real Fresh Food at our doorstep; we thank you for that.
I am writing this review because some of the negative reviews I read on here almost scared me enough not to give this company a try. Thank goodness I tried them anyway! I have tried many other weight loss company’s foods and by far this is the best! I taste amazing! It’s flash frozen and easy to prepare. Taste very fresh. I think the important thing to realize is important to take your food out of freezer the day or so before and place in refrigerator. I like to heat some of the meals in the oven. The containers say they are oven safe up to 400 degrees. I like to brown some of the breakfast items on the stove as well. I do believe good preparation is key to this product. Freezer to microwave can make any food taste bad and not cook evenly. The ingredients and quality is outstanding too. You can read and pronounce every item. I’m also very impressed with the quantity of food in each meal. I can’t eat it all.
This is a plan I can stay on for a long time as every week there are new food offerings. Its not the same food every week. I love that! My husband has always been down on the frozen and prepackaged meals that most weight loss companies sell. He agreed to give it a try. He absolutely loves it too. We are both so happy to have tried this program. Customer service has been great as well. Packaging is great. Food is delivered in dry ice in a heavy duty box with lots of insulation. No worries there. So, if you read some of the negative reviews and are unsure... try it yourself and you make the decision. I can only say I am so glad I did!!
Overall I like the idea of getting a meal made for me by a dietitian to my door and am willing to pay a little more for this, but bistroMD's prices are way too high and their service is not as advertised. I expected to talk to someone who would learn about me, my eating habits and learn my nutritional needs. Instead, I get a meal program like any other that is impersonal and made for the masses. How can a dietitian make meals specifically designed for me when they know nothing about me other than my sex and date of birth?
On top of this, you want to charge me $200 a week for this plan. This is way too much money for the services you are providing. In reality, I can get another meal plan for half that price and use the free App "My Fitness Pal" to get the same computer advice and the ability to watch what I eat. I am extremely disappointed. I think there is a need in America for a program like this, but unfortunately, bistroMD missed the mark. IMHO the meals and "service" are not worth their exorbitant $200 per week fee and I think they know this. Hopefully, they will fix their model and let's see if this review is even published on their website or will they delete it.
I purchased the menopause plan 5 meals per day including a snack. OMG the food is horrible including the snacks. Ok well the breakfast meals were pretty good. I'm eating one now as I am hungry but it's for lunch. The snacks taste like cardboard. The presentation on the website has everything looking really good. I must also say the customer service the few times I had to call or email was great, Hence 2 stars. I really expected to be in this long term. But the lunch and dinner meals did not taste good at all. I cancelled after the first week of food. Also too expensive.
I have lost 15 pounds so far this year by eating bistroMD for 10 meals each week - lunch and dinner. I think the food is great! Some are not my favorite but there are plenty that I do like a lot. I am a busy 50 year old female, 5'4" and weigh 133 - down from 148. The food is healthy and tasty, and prepared by a nutritionist. They send a FedEx Tracking #, and if I am not at home, it's easy to know when it will be delivered, and when it is on my front porch. The packing is done so well that even with the dry ice melted, the temperature is still frozen. I have tested it with a thermometer and always feel good that the food is safe. I hope to lose another 10 pounds before I go on maintenance, and will continue to use BMD for the taste and convenience.
The meals from bistroMD are delicious. Some I have tried aren’t to my taste, but the ones I like, I love. The foods are frozen, but if you read the directions, it says to let them thaw 12 hours before microwaving. That improves the taste a great deal. The seasoning is robust and unique enough to stave off boredom. However, I could eat the Beef and vegetable soup with red wine for every meal. Why not just get frozen meals from the grocery store? Because the portions are weighed toward the protein side. There is a lot of protein in each entree, a small amount of carbohydrate, and a generous portion of vegetables. I hate cooked vegetables but they do something to the broccoli that make it very tasty. You get two snacks in addition to the meals each day.
So the other real plus is you get one on one consultations with a dietitian and trainer. If you are at a plateau or as in my case, I could not eat a whole meal to start with, the dietitian will give you advice based onto type of diet you have, your meal choices, and snacks. Exercise is added on week four and a trainer will help you choose things appropriate to your level of activity and strength. The important thing here is if it just about the food, you are not utilizing all the resources to make your weight loss successful. Having professionals to consult makes a big difference if you have been frustrated on other diets.
The process is complicated and inflexible (food arrives on their schedule and they give you a *three day window* each week which is nonnegotiable). Moreover, meals are frozen on arrival and thus far, tasteless. They are poorer in quality and higher in fat that your standard Lean Cuisine, SmartOnes, or Healthy Choice Fare. They seemed unsurprised when we canceled and didn’t even ask why! I’d recommend against this particular service. Seems more hype than substance...
The food is absolutely disgusting. Do not order this product under any circumstances. The abundance of positive reviews are fake and should not be believed. The food comes old, frozen and loaded with additives/preservatives and is certainly not cooked by a real chef. It is very unhealthy and tastes terrible. I honestly couldn't give any of it away and ended up throwing it all out in the garbage. I tried to get my money back within the legal amount of time that they should be required to refund me and they refused. They told me that it was my fault for not reading the fine print and looking at the ingredients first. You are better off buying any frozen meal product over this, which it would be cheaper and taste better. This is a scam. Don't do it.
I was expecting so much from this company and had very high hopes. The food is bland and tastes as though no effort was made to add herbs, spices or any interesting textures at all, added salt and pepper and any attempt on my part to add herbs and spices makes the food taste worse. If these recipes were in fact developed by an actual licensed dietitian, that person may want to obtain a more in-depth education with a focus on cooking food that is healthy, flavorful and enjoyable to eat.
Most of the snacks are inedible. After attempting to eat the meals I have discovered that virtually all of the meat this company uses is tough, flavorless and of extremely poor quality. My dog, who will eat nearly everything he is given, ignores all of it. The "turkey sausage" included in a number of the breakfast meals is especially heinous. The vegetables are not of good quality and are cooked to the point of being flavorless and become mush in the microwave. Fresh vegetables should NEVER be mushy!
I am stuck with 2 weeks worth of meals, that cost me more than $300, that I cannot eat. If I had purchased any of this "food" in a grocery store I would have demanded an immediate refund! I have made four attempts to reach this company by email to cancel my account and the email address the company had provided for customer service is not correct. I will be calling to cancel my account and requesting a refund. After some research, I found it would be about half of the cost to put together the same program using frozen low-fat, low-carb frozen meals available from any grocery store.
Great customer service online, nice choices, reasonably priced, well packaged, great containers, easy cooking instructions, healthy recipes, quality food... BUT out of 21 dinners ordered, I think one or two were kind of tasty. For the most part, these are the most bland meals I've ever encountered. If I was wearing a blindfold and sampling several of these dishes, they would all taste the same to me. Some of the meals were downright weird &/or disgusting - glistening, flavorless, slimy are adjectives that came to mind. I so wanted to like these, but I have to be honest. They are the pits. Lean Cuisines are delicious compared to BistroMD and much cheaper. No doubt BistroMD's meals are healthy/balanced, but if you can't eat them without gagging at times, there's no point.
I have use this type of service in the past and had a very good experience. I figured now that I am working 2 jobs and am trying to eat healthier I would give this a try... Major issues encountered, did not make delivery promise time, contacted me about delay. Did not communicate that I would not be receiving my customized menu and there was no option or way to adjust it for the week I was receiving. Was not able to set delivery date. And received a bunch of food I did not want and will not eat. What I have eaten so far was ok, but it seems like I can better quality from grocery store frozen dinners. Contacted customer service about my issues. Never responded just canceled my subscription. Good luck on your business!!
Very unsatisfied with my experience & the taste of food with bistroMD. I’m not one to bash anyone and have never given a review before until now. I was sent another shipment of food that I DID NOT ask for and charged $199 before I could even make sure I liked the first weeks meals that I received. Very upsetting so please make sure you cancel after you order so they can’t take advantage of you in the fine print. Also, the quality of food is quite poor in my opinion. Out of the 21 meals there was honestly only 1 meal that I could force down. They are high in sodium which I wasn’t aware of and it’s no better tasting than a TV dinner you buy at Walmart to be honest. I'm a bodybuilder with a tough schedule so I was looking to make my diet easier and have it prepped. Never ever again. I wouldn’t recommend these to anyone.
This program advertises it as workable for vegetarian/pescatarian diets. When I first signed up, it looked like I would have a long list of choices each week. Since I don't eat domesticated animals, I checked this carefully and the website suggested there would be about 30 different choices (mostly fish, but also some vegetarian). I was very happy with the food I got the first week. I received 10 different entrees for lunch and dinner. Some of the snacks have artificial sweeteners, but there were enough choices that I thought I could avoid those in the future.
Then after the first week of food arrives, only 4 entree choices and a smaller number of snacks were suddenly available. I was given many different reasons for this from a website glitch to a west coast based shortage due to overwhelming demand. Then finally someone admitted that not all choices are available every week and there actually are only 4 entree choices in the categories I selected. The same limited 4 entrees were available for the following week. Then because I had limited my choices, they only built a menu around 4 entrees (2 days) and left the rest of the week unfilled. The second week I was billed for the full week even though they were not sending 10 entrees.
After many hours researching, selecting this program and being hopeful it would actually work for me I discovered it is not what it appears to be at all. After lots of misdirection and frustration, I finally cancelled. If you are looking for a variety of foods that don't require eating lots of products from domesticated animals, don't choose BistroMD. If you are looking for a program with honest and informed customer service, don't choose BistroMD.
My meals came defrosted. There is no customer service on the weekend only chat. They would not do anything for me. FedEx would not pick them up. FedEx left them in the lobby of my condo building. The dry ice was melted and odor from the box was overwhelming.
BistroMD has provided me with great meals regularly for a good price and I have enjoyed every meal that I have gotten from them so far. Their meals always taste great and have great nutritional benefits for me. They are the best of these services that I have tried so far. But, they could add some more great tasting and nutritious meals to their already great lineup which would bring in new customers for them. Other than that, I will continue to enjoy their services for a long time into the future.
I like the quality and taste of the food that is delivered to me. I can pre plan my meals according to my schedule and what activities I have planned. It is flavored well, and seasoned well. They accommodate my vegetarian diet, and have many choices of meals to choose from to meet my needs. Organic products are extremely important to me for environmental and health reasons. And they accommodate that for me. It's easy to make meal plans, affordable, and reliable. So if I am going hiking, my meal plan is not something to heat up, but is easily ready to go on a picnic.
This is an affordable service with great dinner options. Easy to use and very convenient. This was my first time using a service like this. I would highly recommend to anyone in the near future. The prices are a bit high, but so is the quality of the food. The food also takes a while to ship out. It's not same day delivery, which can lower the quality of the food. The food was great and appetizing. I chose this because I got tired of cooking. I came home late every day and needed an easier option. I didn't want fast food, so I looked into other options. Home delivered meals was my final option and I decided to give it a try. It definitely surprised me how well the food tasted.
I like the food provided. I think the boxing was amazing and made the experience even more fun which is saying a lot because it's essentially just a glamorized grocery shopping, but you get a lot for your money because it forces you to try new food. I think that they don't give enough of each option. I don't really have that many complaints other than that and I wish you could customize how much you get of each item more. I picked it for the price and convenience. I also wanted to try it out of curiosity and for fun because I didnt know what else to do with my life. I think it really does give you what it promises.
They offer a really good and fresh food and is easy to go to purchase to their place or call for a delivery services, highly recommend when you need to cook something and don't have time. You can have the food in a good time and really great taste for your family. I wish they have a more wide menu with more options to choose a better interface to do business with them online and they need some promotions for their loyalty customer.
Customer service was very well provided and I enjoy the follow-up message provided before and after the delivery and this made it extremely easy during the ordering process. Text updates should be included to help when awaiting a delivery for on the go customer. This is also great when following up on delivery orders and past orders for consumer review. Online customer reviews provided exceptional feedback with five stars to help in the selection process. This is also helpful when reviewing orders and helping to communicate with an online community.
I like the fact that they have a fast delivery service, along with the food tasting amazing. I think that might be the one most important factor in the whole experience. Ordering a meal pack and waiting too long is just one of the worse aspect of other companies. Sometimes the food can come destroyed or out of place, in pieces or all together come back looking very unappealing. I wish it would look good every time I buy it but that just doesnt happen. But otherwise everything else is pretty good. I would tell them that this service is pretty good. The fact is that they pretty much deliver anywhere. I love to cook the food and taste all the flavor that they serve.
I like the fact that they deliver very fast and in a very timely manner. It's really good and I really like it. The features are great and cool and very innovate. I really like them. There is not any improvements I can recommend except maybe updating their website. It's a bit difficult to navigate and make it easier for people like me. This is a really good meal service. I have ordered from them multiple times with no problems and the food is really good.
I think that bistroMD is a great food subscription service because it is affordable and they send great recipes in your subscription. The feature that I like most from Bistro is that you get notifications to when you will receive your next delivery. I currently do not have any features that I personally dislike about Bistro. I think that the service is great and the food is really good. I think that it would be cool if they send a bit more food in the subscription box. One of the main reasons I picked this meal delivery service over the other meal delivery services is because most of my friends and family use this service. This service was very easy to use and it was easy to personalize your subscription.
I really love the fact that, despite being a meal plan with a fairly high extent of focus on weight loss, the food tastes great and is comparable to home cooked meals. I would rate the food quality slightly above that of diet-to-go, one of bistroMD's primary competitors. I would argue that the meal plans, the most exclusive of which reach nearly $200 per week, are quite expensive even for a full delivery service. It should be noted that while the meals taste quite good for a meal plan, they are not quite as good as comparably priced restaurant food in terms of taste alone. I selected this meal delivery service due to positive reviews from my friends that also had success losing weight. The customer service was fantastic and met my expectations handily.
It was delicious and came on time with simple instructions. Packaging was perfect as well. Everything was fresh and clean and yummy. Deliver and ordering was super easy. Simple directions. Even a child could follow them and prepare it with no issues at all. I would order again and again. Would not really care to try anything else.
There's really only so much that can be said about the box and its service. Would not change a thing about the box, food service, packaging or delivery. It was even a great price for the amount of food that came in the box and shipping was awesome as well came fast. It's totally awesome and everyone should try it at least once to try the awesomeness they deliver. I wanted to try something different for dinner so came across this and decided to try it.
I have been using BistroMD for almost 4 months and I couldn't be happier. I have 20 meals delivered per week and they are all healthy and well portioned. I even have trouble finishing the breakfasts! The menu is vast, which you can easily peruse on their website, and it is also very easy to remove any meals that you wouldn't like from your repertoire. The meals all taste like they were prepared by a good chef without being too "foofy". There are basics like Meatloaf and Turkey with Gravy, diverse tastes like Jambalaya and Chicken Tikka Masala, and even classier meals like Beef Bourguignon and Barramundi Seabass with Sweet Coconut Pineapple Sauce. If you are considering trying a meal plan, try this one. You won't be disappointed. :O)
