What is Verge Credit?

Verge Credit partners with Stride Bank to offer personal loans, including for those with less-than-perfect credit scores. Verge Credit is the servicer for loans originated by Stride Bank.

Because it has no physical locations, Verge Credit focuses on providing a streamlined, fully online application and funding experience. This means you can compare up to five personal loan options without leaving the comfort of your home.

How do personal loans at Verge Credit work?

Verge Credit’s lending process is entirely online. First, apply to receive personalized loan options that you qualify for, if applicable.

Verge Credit’s lending decisions take several factors into account, including your credit score, history and income. Applicants need to be at least 18 years old (19 in Alabama and Delaware) and provide the following details:

  • Checking account info
  • Income information
  • Email address
  • Social Security number
  • Monthly rent or mortgage amount

Once you select a loan, funds can be available as soon as the next business day.

Verge Credit personal loan rates

The specifics of a Verge Credit personal loan depend on the applicant’s financial situation, but in general:

  • Loan amounts range from $500 to $5,000
  • Terms range from six to 60 months
  • Annual percentage rates (APRs) range from 37% to 179%

The company doesn’t charge origination fees, late fees or prepayment fees.

The specifics of these factors determine the overall cost of a personal loan. For example, someone trying to get a $2,000 loan with a 94% APR would pay a little over $187 per month for 24 months. This person would end up paying a total of $4,496.46, assuming they pay off the loan on time.

Keep in mind that interest rates on personal loans are higher than those for traditional loans — before applying for a personal loan, make sure to weigh it against your other options. For more details on the total cost of borrowing from Verge Credit, visit its rates and terms page.

How fast can I get a loan at Verge Credit?

Because its services are 100% online, you can complete Verge Credit’s streamlined application in minutes from a computer, tablet or smartphone. The lending decision usually takes seconds.

If approved, loan funds are typically deposited the next business day, although actual fund availability depends on your bank.

I paid my bill for Oct and it cleared my account Oct 4th, after I paid my bill on or about Sept 30th (for the month of Oct) I requested that my due date be changed to the 1st of the month. I received an email on Oct 3rd stating that I had a new due date and that my next payment was due Nov 1 (that would be for November's payment). All of this was done electronically. I made my payment at the end of Oct and it cleared my account on Nov 1st. After that I received a notice stating that I was late.

I have never been late. I always paid my loan as soon as I got paid and each time I paid early so it would clear on time. Then I was somehow enrolled in autopay and they kept trying to charge my bank card. So I called Verge and I was told to email proof of payments. So I emailed them a copy of every bank statement since I opened the loan (all redacted except the proof of payment) and I requested that they disenroll me from autopay. I received no response and a payment came out and they changed my due date back to the original date. And Verge STILL has me listed as delinquent and I know I am not. Every time I speak to them they tell me I send an email yet I get no response. A complaint was filed to the CFPB.

I was desperate when I was looking for a personal loan and I needed it very quickly. I did not contact them, I had just used one of the loan servicing apps and Verge contacted me. I was more than happy that they did though. They made the process very easy and I received the money I needed in time. They also allowed me to pick exactly which date I wanted to make my payment on. So they also made it very convenient for me to be able to make my payments when I was going to be getting paid and would be able to pay. Overall this example has been very positive for me.

This loan was not because I was in need. I'm working on rebuilding my credit and this company reports monthly so it WAS what I needed. However the inability to create options for changing payment dates in order to help my ability to pay it back in a timely manner has been stripped because this company does not allow that. Almost every company allows customers to change payment dates in a effort to allow customers to make payments easy. I have NEVER missed a payment and tried to change the payment date in order to be able to not default and I was told there's nothing that can be done. That's not good business. I will NEVER again use this company and I will NEVER recommend it to anyone! It really sucks when people are trying to do the right thing and big companies like this one who make more in interest than anything to not be flexible with on time customers...
