Consumer Complaints and Reviews
They told me to buy a $210.00 Green Dot money card. They would put $5000.00 in my acct. and then they said the FTC was trying to put money in my acct. and they told me that I had to buy a Green Dot money card for another $300.00. I knew it was a scam and I'm glad I didn't buy that $300.00 Green Dot money card.
I needed to gather money together to pay for bills due. I went online and applied to numerous places. Mind you, I have used a couple in the past that have been fair and good. Anyways, the day after going online and doing this, I received a call from a Logan ** from the above company. He explained that I was approved for $3000 and what my monthly payments would be, along w/ requiring a $366 application fee that I would have to put on a GreenDotMoneyPack card from Walmart. Call them w/ the number on the back, which I stupidly did. He said that he wanted me to speak w/ him only and that in about an hour and a half, he would call back w/ money in my bank.
While waiting for his call back, another call came in stating that the police would arrest me for an outstanding payday loan, but when I asked the name of the payday loan company, they hung up. I then called Logan and he stated that after trying to deposit the funds into my account, that I needed to give them another $540 in order to remove the "red flag" on my SSN through TransUnion credit bureau. By now, I know this is a scam and want my money back. He laughed and stated that he is through the BBB (Not!), and would I come after him to hurt him, in a very belligerent manner.
I called my bank, the police, and greendotmoneypack. While the police officer was filing the complaint, and actually spoke to Logan via phone, I received another call stating that I would be arrested at my place of employment. When I told him that I would let him speak w/ the police officer taking the report, he asked me "would he do you and if the officer was smart or dumb looking", laughed and hung up. I continued to get calls from these men w/ remarks from them from calling me names and threatening me. They are from Russia. The officer stated that the companies are light; however, these people hack into them. Yesterday, I got a call from my employer stating that a man called wanting to know my work schedule and was very disrespectful to her. I am not done w/ these people and will hunt them down like the animals they are.
I called for a loan of 1,500 dollars. They said it was okay. They can give me that. It would be $137.00 a month for 12 months. Only thing I had to do is pay the first payment in a Green Dot MoneyPak. After I did that, they told me that my credit score was low and I can put more money down to make my score higher. First, they ask me to pay $311.00 to make my score 700 points. I told them no, I didn't have that. Then they said $210.00. I said I can do that. I gave them the number to the MoneyPak. Then they said that I owe the IRS money and in order for them to release the money, I had to pay one last amount of $189.00 That's when I knew they stole the money off those cards. I told them to give me my money back. They kept saying that the government wouldn't let them release the money.
I knew that me owing the government had nothing to do with a payday loan. I then went to the police department to file a report. They asked me for the address. I realize that all I have is a number and probably fake names. At first they said they were in California, then Florida. Wow, I felt so dumb and used. I gave them $350.00 when I am in debt for thousands. I don't understand how the government would let this fake company keep going on with this scam. I gave them all my information. Now they can use it whenever they want. I know that people that have never gotten scammed will judge me, saying why give out your information, or you never have to pay to to get a loan. Let me say this. When you are desperate, and you are about to lose something worth everything to you, you will do anything to keep it. I just made a grave mistake. That will never happen again. This fake company hasn't heard the last of me. I am not going down without a fight.
We are about to lose our car and our house because I lost my job and after getting behind on everything financially. Once my income was taken out of the equation and us getting behind we were/are desperate for some money. Our credit is not good and we took a chance even with all the red flags that this would work. We were to borrow 5K for $457.00, a month for the next two years. Oh, and the interest rate was 12%. We put one payment on the GreenDot card from Walgreens as verification we had the money to make payments. Then we talked with one of the many people that had called us to ensure this was going to happen and was told to watch our bank account and there would be a deposit for $5,457.00, that never came. Disappointed and feeling stupid does not describe what we are going through over not getting the help we needed so badly and losing $457.00, that we did not have to lose in the first place. God will help us and I encourage everyone to pray for these people stealing and lying to us that the Lord might touch their hearts. If not then look out, God is watching.
Pay Day Loans of America should be renamed Pay Day Loans of India. After carefully reading other complaints, I decided to share my side of the story. I constantly kept getting numerous phone calls from the named company. In the back of my mind, I told myself not to go through with this, along with my wife telling me to forget about it. Well, the money I was asking for was to get her some dental work done. I cannot fathom how these people can get by taking people's hard earned money. My wife and I both are on a fixed income. There is no remorse shown with these companies. It was taken by two companies and my total loss is $1,271.50. The same routine was to purchase a Green Dot card and call them with a number.
My first purchase was the wrong card, but I come to find out he took the money and ran with it after telling me he did not use the card. He then told me to buy a MoneyPak Green Dot card and to no surprise, he also took that money. He then told me that I was to pay $450.00 for tax purposes. Well, at this point, I had enough and demanded he refund my money. All I got was laughed at and mocked at. I should have known better after getting ripped from the first company. Again, I DO NOT see how these people from another country with normal English names can get by with this without the law officials or the FBI stepping in. I did read reviews, but I just threw the salt over my shoulder and done what I done.

I was told that I was approved for a loan. All I had to do was put some $200.00 on a card, call them and they will put the $200.00 back along with the loan money back into my account. I've never seen the $200.00 nor did I receive the loan. I called them and told them that I wanted my money back. They kept promising to put the money back, but never did. I called for 4 days straight. They never did and they kept hanging up on me every time I call and give them my name.
A man called me and told me that I was approved for up to $10000 loan. Then he asked what I would be using the loan for. I told him to pay off bills. He asked me how much I want to make the loan for; I told him $5000 for 24 months. He went further to tell me the monthly payments would be $233 a month but he said in order to process the loan, he needed me to purchase a Green Dot MoneyPak for $233.00 to show him the first payment. He assured me that I would receive the money back when my $5000 was deposited into my savings account. He said it would take 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, he informed me that there was a problem processing my loan due to my bad credit. He needed another Green Dot MoneyPak for $300. He then assured me that this $300 was for taxes on my loan.
Anyway, I went to Walmart to purchase the Green Dot MoneyPak. When I told the cashier what I wanted, she asked me if I knew the person I was giving the number to. She told me there was a scam going on with the MoneyPaks and the scammers were specifically asking for $300. So I decided against buying it and went home. Now the guy keeps calling me back assuring me that they are not trying to scam me. After I told them I wasn't going to purchase the $300 Green Dot MoneyPak, he keeps calling me. I quit answering his phone calls. The phone number is 845-335-5809 I lost the $233 but at least I didn't give the $300 too. I hope many who read this believe me and don't trust this loan company. I will be more careful now online and watch out for scammers! They also say they are affiliated with the Better Business Bureau too, but obviously they are not.
I was contacted on Tuesday, 5/28, by a man named David with confirm # for loan of $2500 and given a supervisor # to discuss terms. Blake then told me to secure loan and due to credit, I needed to purchase Greendot card in the amt of $233 which I did & gave him the code on the back. When money was not put in the acct., I called again and he said I had outstanding debt of $292 that must be paid before the transaction can process fully. I also did this and gave him the digits on the back. I was/am in desperate need of these funds. He has not returned a call/email or anything since Wed. I begged to borrow funds to do this in order to keep internet on for my job and water on for my children. Both are now disconnected and the electricity will be on Mon. I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I never expected to be taken advantage of in such a terrible manner. If anyone knows of another # I can contact or actions I can take, please feel free to call me. I am completely devastated over this matter.
I was called by PaydayLoansofAmerica company that I was approved for $5,000 loan, so I did the process they told me. I get the $300 money pack and then give them the number. Then they said that the money will be on my bank within 25 minutes. Of course, it didn’t happen. So I called them back, but nobody was answering (just a voice mail by Jason). Until now I still can’t contact them. If there’s a way I can get my 300 dollars, please help me out.
We have been contacted several times by Payday Loans of America. We were told that their contact number was (954) 934-9981. Just like a lot of other people, we were told to upload money to a Green Dot card. If we uploaded $400+, then we would receive a $9,000 loan within a few hours, on a Friday. We were told that we would need to give them our voucher number from our Green Dot card. We decided to do our research first.
We decided not to take any risk after reading the reviews here and going to the Green Dot website and reading this: “How to Stop A Scam: Use your MoneyPak number only with businesses on our approved list. If anyone else asks for your MoneyPak number or information from your receipt, it’s probably a scam. Don’t give your MoneyPak number to pay for something you buy through the classifieds or to collect a prize or sweepstakes. Do not give away your receipt information to another party either. If you give your MoneyPak number or information about the purchase transaction to a criminal, Green Dot is not responsible for paying you back. Your MoneyPak is not a bank account. The funds are not insured against loss.”
It appears that any place that asks you to upload money on a card or Western Union money is fake. We have gotten a legitimate payday loan that went directly through our bank. If the bank won't allow them to take money from your account, then we probably shouldn't be dealing with them.
In trying to pay off some medical and other bills, I applied to a loan database and was contacted by this company. The rep, Adam, told me that I qualified for a loan in the amount of $4,000 but would have to put a security deposit down of $250 on a Green Dot money pack that would be returned to me, because of my credit score. After thinking about it, I decided not to take it because my common sense kicked in. Adam ended up calling me back and when I told him I was no longer interested, he yelled at me and told me I was committing a fraud because I agreed to the terms of the loan which I did not as I did not sign any papers or put money on a Green Dot card. This was a horrible experience but a lesson learned. Hopefully, they will not be able to take any further action.
I applied for a loan from this company via their website on 01/24/2013. I was told that I need to get a vanilla one card and put $175.00 on it in order to get the loan. They said I had to show good faith. I put the money on the card and called it in to them. They told me the money would be in my account in 30 minutes. I waited two hours and called them back. I talked to a man who said his name was Kevin. He then proceeded to tell me (when I asked if this was a scam), his reply was yes! They took every penny I had and laughed at me. How do I bring them up on charges? I called the police and made a report. I want these people put out of business. They show no remorse about ripping people off. They just laugh and say "I took your kid's Christmas money." I would like to know how to go about shutting these people down. I want them in jail. What do I do?
We applied for a loan and was accepted at Payday Loans of America. We were instructed to get a $200 One Vanilla Gift Card to show our good faith. We did. When we called about the card after playing phone tag with Dominic for 3 hours and being assured the $1,000 loan would be deposited in our checking account, we found out the money was on hold for the Lei Geng company. We are now out $200 we should have spent on groceries. This company is a scam, isn't it? Dominic's phone number is 1-202-241-4541. He said he was in Washington DC.
I applied for a loan online and got a phone call from Payday Loans of America. They said that I was approved of a loan of $3000. I then said that I didn't need that much and that I only needed $1000. This man, who called himself Mike, said okay. He said that I needed to purchase a Green Dot card and put $166 on it and tell him the number on the back of the card. I did, and he said that the money would be in my bank account within 45 minutes. Of course, it didn't happen. So I called back and talked with a man called Daniel. He said that there was an error and that I needed to load another card with $130. So I did. Now they have all my paycheck, and he said that, again, the money would be in my bank account in 45 minutes. Nothing has happened except me being out $296 with no food, no gas in my car, and no money in my bank. I'm dead broke and very upset. Surely there is something to do about this.
These guys told me I had been approved for a loan of $1,000. Then they told me because my credit score was below 600, I had to show them that I could make the payments. So they told me to buy a Green Dot MoneyPak card and load $150 on it and call them when I had done that. Then they needed to verify the funds and my loan would be transferred to my account. Needless to say, the MoneyPak was emptied and they told me there had been an accounting error but that I would be reimbursed with my loan. Again, I don't need to tell you the loan never came through and I'm out $150. Now, they're not accepting my calls. I should have known from the start it was a scam.
Update: After calling several times, I really angered them. They were as mad as you guys. They went to the extreme of tapping into my job’s line while I was at work to tell me I'm fired. Keep in mind I'm at work. My employers have contacted the police about the wire-tapping. This has just turned federal! That had to be one of the most stupid moves. You guys are one-step closer to getting those crooks!
I talked to a man named David ** about a $1,000 loan! He told me if I paid my first payment of $120, my loan would be in my account! He called me back and told me I'd need $80 more (all put on Green Dot money cards)! So, I had paid a total of $210 and still have not received my money! Today I called and talked to this guy and he tried telling me that if I paid another $110, then I would get my loan plus my $210! When I asked him just to give me my money back, he told me that unless I was going to pay the other $110, not to call back? Why, when I've already paid, do I need to pay more money to get my money back? All I want is my money that I worked hard for, not to throw it away!
Thank you all for your reviews. I just received a call from a rep from Payday Loans of America informing me that I was approved for $2,500. I informed the rep I didn't need it all and only needed $500. He stated that that the minimum amount is $1,000, so I agreed to the $1,000. He said that I needed to go get a Green Dot money voucher card and give him the card number. At first, I was going due to it close to Christmas so I can go Christmas shopping. But I felt it was a scam so he put a manager on to ensure that I wasn't getting scammed. I was en route to get the Green Dot Card and what made me change my mind was because the manager keep calling me and asking me if I did get the card. When I told him I'm at the store, the manager was like okay. I told him I will call him when I get the card. As soon as I hung up, he called back within three minutes.
So I finally told him that I didn't want it because I feel it was a scam. He told me to go to the website and look them up. He gave me a website, usapaydayloans.com. It was not a good website. When I called the number back, a manager named Kevin answered and gave me a different website. And then Shawn called me back and asked me again. I told him that I would like to review the website first. He said, "Never mind. Don't worry about it." I said, "Huh?" He told me to just call them tomorrow after I have reviewed the website. I am so blessed that you guys put up your comments because you all saved me $100. It might not seem a lot and I am so sorry that you all got scammed.
I applied for a loan from a loan department on 12/11/12 and I was approved. I got a call from an unavailable number, telling me I was approved up to $5,000 so I was confused. The guy told me his boss Jason was going to contact me. He called right after the other one hung up. He told me they were going to approve me for $2,000. I was happy because I really needed the money. They instructed me to go to CVS and buy a Green Dot MoneyPak for $200 and give them the PIN numbers. After that, I did not get any call back or my money back. I called several times not knowing they have been doing that scam to a lot of people.
I was just scammed by Mack yesterday. I have contacted the law to open an investigation. This is **. They keep getting away with it! I asked Mack why he did this to me and I've never done anything to him. He told him he just took my kids' Christmas money. He said he didn't care if my kids had Christmas or not. He was taking my money to go party. The weird thing is he will still answer the same phone number. I was wondering if anybody else has contacted the police.
My story is similar to Rhonda of GA. I will release names and phone numbers. I applied for a loan online and someone called and told me I was approved. They gave me a code and phone # of 484-485-9939 to call. I spoke with a rep (Mack). He told me I was approved for a loan of $3000 and they lend up to as much as $25,000. I asked how did this work. He stated I had to send them the first payment. My payments would be $250 per month for 16 months. I waited several days before I finally decided to do this with Mack calling me in between that time.
I went to Wal-Mart, purchased the Green Dot card, and gave Mack the # on the back. He told me to hold on for a minute, and then he returned to the phone and told me the money would be in my account in an hour. I called and continued to check my account, nothing. The next day, I received a phone call. ID showed unavailable, which I don't usually answer but I did. It was Mack but calling about a loan for homeowners. I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. I called the 484 number and he answered, "Payday Loans of America, Mack." I was furious. I told him who I was and that I haven't received my money that I knew this was a scam and he had better put my money back in my account or I would expose them on the internet, Facebook, Twitter and everything I could think of. Mack told me if the money wasn't there in 15 minutes to call 904-827-7520. I did and another voicemail came on. I left a very ugly message. Eric **, probably wasn't his real name, finally called me back.
I explained again what was going on and told them I knew this was just a scam. He told me the only way I could receive the loan is if I send them another $200 and then I went shell. He told me I wasn't getting my money back and I could change all my bank info if I needed to and I went shell again. Then he started making fun of me and hung up. Yes, it was stupid on my part but people should not be allowed to scam people out of their hard-earned money and all they do is think of ways to get it. Believe me, unjust doesn't prosper!
I got taken for $260 which I could not lose. They called me from (909) 666-4303, said I was approved for $5,000. They told me to send my first payment in of $260 on a Green Dot card. When I get it, to call them with the 14 digit, then I would have 23 months to go. When I called to ask what happened to the $5,000, if it has been deposited into my bank account, they came up with I need to pay $300 because the IRS had no liens against me. I refused to pay, then they called saying they were the state attorney and were sending a report to GA to have me arrested.
On July 11, 2010, I applied for a loan of $1,000.00. I faxed what they asked for the next day. They would email me the terms and see if I wanted the loan, and nothing has ever came through. When I called back, I can never get through to any agent or Wendy. She was with another client and the mail box was full. The longest time on the phone, waiting for an agent, was 25 to 45 minutes with no response. I didn't know if the loan was approved or not. I was calling day after day with the same results - no one to talk to. What's up with this?
I finally got through to auto-teller for payment of $125.00. Now what? I call the next day for Wendy. Call after call after call and I get Wendy, only to find out that the loan was only for $250.00, not $1,000.00. The $125.00 was only a finance fee. The interest fee was something else to be added on to the $250.00, plus a $10.00 for the transaction fee. It looks like this loan cost me double the amount of the loan. What a rip-off! The best part is that I didn't even get the chance to say no to the loan, and had never been able to get through by phone to Wendy again. I keep getting cut off or spend 20 minutes waiting for no one to answer.
I sent a fax to Wendy on August 2, 2010 to contact me because I am very dissatisfied, but still, no response from Wendy. Then, I got subscription being charged to the bank account which I never ordered and for some service to other subscriptions as well. I tried calling Wendy again, but there was no answer as usual because the subscription was tied in to pdly. Again, I sent in the fax to Wendy. I had to stop payment to them pdly and payment will be made with postal money order. I told them to contact me by phone or fax to get the $300.00 money order, but still, no response. Call after call, I got no response in September and October 2010.
The money order still waited, but I got threatening phone calls from an unknown number who claimed to be a paralegal for some attorney and who never gave his name, calling 4 or 5 times a day and wanting me to pay $8,000.00 and never wanting to hear a word I had to say but always hanging up on me. They had constant attacks against my bank account for this and that without end. On February 7, 2011, my bank account was closed because PaydayLoanProtection scam got into my account, and the bank had made the closing. Now, I am getting calls again to collect payment. When I asked why pdly refused the money order, the female refused to give an answer, claiming I owe them $500.00 plus. I then again asked why pdly refused to take money order and still no answer. I asked that they stop harassing me but still can't get the address. Maybe Mr. Muntal ** can tell us.
I borrowed $300 from Payday Loans of America, and authorized them to collect payments from my checking account. For the next three months, Payday Loans of America debited my checking account for over $900. I tried to call the company, but there was no contact number for customer service. I also attempted to contact them by email, but received no response.
Finally, I requested that my bank to stop the payment, since I had already paid my loan in full, including over 300% interest. They continued to harass me with phone calls, and continued their attempts to debit my checking account. Today, I received a call from the collection agency, Alliance, retained by Payday Loans of America, threatening me at my job. The representative told me that if I did not pay them, they would pursue other legal measures, that would affect my job. This is complete harassment and is unacceptable.
I borrowed $300 in July of '09. I have not been able to pay back the $300 so every two weeks, the company withdraws $90.00 from my account. After the 4th time of withdrawing $90.00, they withdraw an additional $25 to apply toward the principal. I never receive a reminder, the money just comes out of my account. To date, the $300 loan has cost me $962.50. I called today and asked them how much is owed on the principle and I was told $250.00 is owed and if I pay it today, I will only have to pay $250.00 plus the interest of $75.00 which has accrued.
I have already given this company $962.50. Because I signed the contract, I am liable. I cannot afford this. What can I do?
I tried to apply for a loan with payday loan and kept getting fowarded to other sites so I just stop my search, by the way I began looking for loans between June 15-26th because I was going on vacation July 1st and needed to cove last minute costs, I never read anything about a charge after 10 days of any sort, but on July 15th I was charged $7.81 and an overdraft fee of $35 for there services that i never received.
I now have a negative balance do to that charge and other things that I knew about in my account.
