I have been shocked by the lack of security, accountability and poor communications from the DC-area bank. While opening a new account, they transmitted my account number through an unsecured email communication and seemed put-out when I explained they would need to close that exposed account and open a new account for me, but they did it. Then provided the closed account number to Deluxe checks, which went undetected until a large tax check I wrote bounced. I couldn't figure out how the payment bounced, and finally put it together and contacted them about the problem and replacement of the checks.
The VP said they would replace the checks at their cost due to the mistake being theirs to begin with, and their staff ordered the new checks. However, they never did pay Deluxe and now claim that I just chose to order more checks, that I called Deluxe myself, and that they had only agreed to cover shipping (which makes no sense at all. So, now I am getting calls from collections for $100 charge that is entirely their fault. The VP is making up stuff and is completely unapologetic about the hassle they caused me. I had a very large balance and am moving my business to another bank, of course. These people can't be trusted. My credit is being affected adversely simply for having chosen them to be our business' bank in 2022.

This bank charges you $20.00 to cash a check that was drawn from their bank if you do not have an account with them. It isn't enough that it is a payroll check and your employer does business with them. This is a complete RIP OFF!!! Will NEVER do business with them!

I don't know where did they hire the no patience people for the first call on customer services. I had experiences with a bad representative this morning. She was no patience, not nice, mean to talk. She just cut off the phone when I was still talking. The phone number I've called is: 8007909130. I have never met people like this.

The bank is always taking your money with no explanation, always check your account before purchasing anything, they play with your $, are rude, nasty, don't care about their customers, in order for them working less they force you to cancel your debit card. They know you need it and it takes over 7 business days to get a new one. You get charged for using the bank's ATM to withdraw $, check your account balance, get a print out receipt, even if the ATM charges no fee for withdraw. But the customer service takes the cake. Wow. This bank is trash, trash. This bank needs to be investigated like tD & Wells Fargo that had investigations & money refunded to the customers for them stealing from them.

My mortgage was transferred to M&T and every person I have spoken seems to not know what they are talking about! Let's talk about the lack of tact when speaking to someone. Michael G and Pete was the absolute worst! Michael spoke over me, very loud and rude. I really hope they record their calls for customer service training, because HE really needs it. Pete was condescending and could care less, as though he was late for lunch. I hate that my loan is now with them.

A day ago. NEW. I deposited a check with this bank for my closing for my new home that was gifted to me by my mother. This check has been in hold since 5/13. An official check from Chase!. They blocked my account so all my bill pay bounced back and now my car insurance had canceled. This bank is racist. They think I'm a thief when I'm just trying to purchase a home.

Called Customer Service to verify the routing number for a wire transfer. This is a general question. Some banks have a routing numbers for their checking/savings accounts and a completely different routing number for wire transfers. Rep refused to give me the routing number.

My loan was transferred them! Horrible experience so far! I hate this. I’ve had to call them 3 different times to have an analysis done because my payment increased when they took over my mortgage! 3 different times for something so simple. I’ve spoken to about 7 people and no one has any answers as to why my payment increased and is a different amount monthly! I keep getting the run around! Incompetence!

Terrible service from this bank/lender. The customer service lied to me repeatedly almost every single time I had to call them. Upon paying off our loan, even after the final payment was taken from my bank, M&T refused to give me any sort of proof of payoff. My access to the app and the website was removed "because the account was closed". Yet they refused to email me any proof of payoff. I was in the process of buying a new RV and trading the old one (we just paid off) in, and M&T made me wait 10 business days before they would snail-mail my proof of payoff. Then an issue that was partially my fault, I had forgotten to cancel my auto-pay from my bank. So after payoff, an additional payment was accidentally sent to M&T through ACH.
I called M&T immediately, they said I had to wait until the payment cleared. Once it cleared, I called back. I asked them to send that payment back through ACH. The representative said they would do what they could. A week later, no refund, so I called back. I was then informed that they usually send any kind of refund back through snail mail, but would check to see if it could be sent back through ACH seeing that is how they received it. They put me on hold for a few minutes. When they returned they said they could do it by ACH and that I should have it in a few days.
A week and a half later, still no refund. I called again. This time they said there was some sort of misunderstanding and that the ACH was processed that morning, and that I should have it in 3 days. 5 days later, I called my bank to see if it was pending. My bank saw nothing. I called M&T again. This time they told me that they don't send refunds by ACH and that a paper check was mailed out 2 days ago. Today I finally got a refund check. Almost a month after the initial call for a refund. And the check is dated the day of the final phone call. Avoid this dishonest lender!
