I received an offer in the mail from this company (Springleaf) for a loan up to $4,250. I applied online, it said I was approved. When I contacted the office and gave the person who answered the phone my information to look up my account, I stated to her that it said that I was approved for over $4,000 on the website, but I only need $1.5k-$2k. The lady that answered the phone started talking about me although it said I was approved online that does not mean I can get a loan for that amount unless I have strong collateral anything with a title. So she looked at my credit then asked about my truck which was paid off, then she went on to inquiring about my car that I still have a lien on from my credit union.

She made the suggestion that I let them purchase my auto loan debt from my credit union where I currently pay 13% interest, and owe about $10k. She stated that they can acquire my auto loan debt, and also give me a loan but my interest would be 29% plus. I asked her is there are any other avenues we could explore because I really needed the loan for some health care expenses for my wife. It's a crying shame that companies like this get people hopes all up when they are in the need of financial help thinking this will be the silver lining of a very dark cloud instead they just rain on your parade of expectation. These people need to do better because people like myself have unexpected emergency situation occur, and think found the answer, all it leave you with is a question... WHY???

Do not use these **. They will say your application was approved for a loan, tell you to come in with documents and completely waste your time. "Well we actually cannot give you the loan" - total waste of time. This company bonked its head.

What a joke! I had 2 loans through them from 2 different branches which were paid in full with no late payments ever. Applied for a new one at a different branch, and was denied because my car was too old? Way to make title loans legal again in North Carolina. And I continue to get their letters offering a loan. Leave me alone wackos. I got a much better rate elsewhere without your insane interest, thanks!

Privacy of my loan. When I applied for my loan the gentleman and I discussed what I wanted and what he could probably get for me. A day later he called me back and told me my options. I agreed, made an appointment, went into the office, signed paperwork and got my check, shake hands and left.

I have used Springleaf services two (2) times. The first time was to purchase Christmas gifts for the family. The second time was to have trees which were endangering the house removed. Each time I was treated with respect and courteously.

This was the easiest loan I have ever gotten. They made it fast and simple. I would absolutely use them again and recommend to anyone. They don't judge you and you just walk in, sign, and go with your money. They have a ton of options for you.

I was told that the auto club was part of my loan package and that the $199.00 was already factored into my loan. I do not need this auto club. I was lead to believe it was free. However, I had to sign papers so that the money would be taken out of my loan and then sent to the auto club. So how was this free?

Do not apply here!!! Stay away. They are car sharks!! I called today and spoke to an idiot in the office. I asked about details of the type of loans and the process. The idiot said they have a really easy process that you are not denied based on credit, but even if bad credit your application will be reviewed by a manager and may be approved for a lower amount. But it may take up to 24 hrs. I kept her on the phone while she ran my credit. When she came back she asked if I owned a car. Huh WTF. "No I make payments as my credit shows." "Oh we can't approve you. You have to have a car or boat title." WTF. The phone is a wonderful!! Glad we were not in the office. Then when I told her she never mentioned it, she said, "Oh, we use TVs as collateral." WTF. I'm going to talk to the manager!! This is ridiculous.

I started a loan with Springleaf 18 months ago and never had a late or missed payment. The payments were debited out of my account when requested without any problems. I called Springleaf to renew my loan and they offered me a lot more than what I was originally asking. The loan has decent terms and the people at the Harahan location are very helpful and offer great service. If you're applying for a loan at Springleaf, you most likely do not have an 800 credit score, so don't expect a loan at 4%. What they do offer is a simple loan and a chance to rebuild your credit. The interest rates are a little higher, but when you have fair to poor credit ALL interest rates are higher. I highly recommend Springleaf and will continue to use them in the future. Give Springleaf a try if you need help.

I was approved for 3,500 but when talking to an agent you need equity provided. I have a title for a car but not enough equity and even though salary was more than enough it requires equity, budget, and salary--1 out of 3 don't match up you're denied. Why risk a hard hit and they say you're approved when there are other requirements that are not specified. This was a waste of time, and the loan specialist determined equity was needed even though income was over 10,000 a month. This is an unfair assessment. Why approve the loan or say the risk is good through Credit Carma? This is totally false. Say you need all 3 upfront before applying. I didn't need the money, just wanted to build credit history now I'm stuck with a hard hit and no loan that stated I was approved for. False advertisement.

Original review: Sept. 10, 2016

I believe around November 2014 I needed some extra money. I had spoken with someone from the Tempe branch. I went into the office to sign the papers. At that point they told me I had to use my car as collateral and explained that I had to borrow enough to pay off all debts. I was on medication and wasn't thinking clearly. Bottom line, I fell behind due to 2 auto accidents caused by others and my disability. I worked out a deal with the branch manager. Borrowed back payments from a friend and dropped it in their night drop. They claim the never received it.

That was on Friday, Monday I learned that that office was no longer Springleaf. I got a call from a different branch manager, told me my car was going to collections. I provided proof of the withdrawal from my bank account. This woman calls after Labor Day, we work out a payment arrangement. About 3 days later someone else from collections calls me and says if I don't come up with $2,000 by September 30th I'm losing my car. I told him about the deal I already worked out and he said it was invalid. Today the lady who called on Sept. 6th said she had to cancel the 2 payments we agreed to and repeated what the guy who called yesterday said. They are liars and thieves and don't care about their customers. I am reporting them to the BBB of AZ and the Attorney general 's office.

I have NEVER applied with these idiots but every 3 months I get a hard inquiry on my credit report. I have excellent credit and don't need their very high interest rate loans. I wrote to their home office and the local office and told them to stop pulling my credit but they refuse. I will now be filing a Federal lawsuit against them for falsely pulling my credit report. Avoid this company at all costs as they seem to be no better than a payday loan company.

Original review: Sept. 8, 2016

Being a customer of Springleaf Financial, in good standing, I assumed that all of the bad reviews were the product of disgruntled consumers who were turned down, for valid reasons. I hereby apologize to most of you. Springfield Financial, does indeed, use fraudulent advertising and loan approval notices. I had several accounts that were opened, and then closed, that were in very good standing. I was never late in a payment, and in fact, used their auto account debit feature. My accounts were closed through business acquisitions and loan transfers to companies that they merged with.

The bad all started with a mailer I received a few weeks ago, from the main office, with a new loan offer. The mailer stated that I was such a great and valued customer, that I was approved for additional funds. As I am remodeling my home, this came as a great opportunity to finish the remodel. So, last Saturday, Sep 3nd, I went online and filled out a new application, for an additional $5,000 and the response that I received online, was that although they could not loan the $5,000, they did approve me for $3,500,and that a local representative would call me in the next 15 min, or on the next business day to finalize the loan. Since it was the weekend and Monday was a holiday, I did not expect a reply until Tuesday Morning.

On Monday, which was the holiday, I received an email from Springfield stating that they needed to speak to me, by phone, before they could approve the loan. What happened to the approval notice I received online? I had an approval, then lost it? So, I waited for their call on Tuesday morning, Sep 6th. Nothing happened. No call, No Email, nothing. So, I called Springfield on Wed morning Sep 7th, at the toll free number that they provided, and spoke to a representative. When I tried to explain to the lady, that I already had an approval, she acted like she couldn't hear a word I was saying. She just kept saying she needed to ask me some questions. I provided all of the answers to her questions, then she informed me that she would forward my application to the underwriters for their approval. She stated that she would give me a call in a couple of hours.

So, the waiting started, all over again. NOTHING, NO CALL, NO EMAIL, NOTHING. So, I called Springfield back on Wed evening, and was told my application was denied. The representative could not give me a reason for the denial, but I should get something in the mail. NICE JOB, SPRINGLEAF. My credit score is a good 660, my payment history is 100% perfect my CC debt is about $4,100, but I have multiple inquiries, due to shopping for a remodel loan. Didn't matter !!! Declined! I will never approach Springfield Financial for another loan, and I urge anyone ready this review, to STAY AWAY from SPRINGFIELD FINANCIAL.

My thoughts now are, that the Texas State Attorney General needs to take a look at Springfield's authority to due business in Texas. If our Congressman and our State Senator aren't too busy, maybe some congressional hearings, are in order. Fraudulent and deceptive advertising has to stop. It's a cheap way to run a company, Springfield.

I'm very Disappointed in this loan company. I called to get a loan on the phone, they approved me and I went to sign the paper work, then funds automatic deposited into my account. So then I payed 9 payments on time. Never late. The manager told me they will help after 6 months on time payments, so then I really need the money so I call to renew my loan 3 different times and was denied all 3 times. She tells me they have changed the rules of borrowing, they gave no notice of the change. I feel at least they give a notice things have changed. Also I referred a person that borrowed over $3000 dollars and they are also making on time payments. I feel they are treating me wrong. Also my credit is better now than when I got the loan. So I'm going to finish paying off the loan, but will never borrow from this place again and no referrals. I'm very unsatisfied.

Original review: Sept. 6, 2016

So I have been trying to rebuild my credit after a divorce from a few years ago. I needed some extra money to pay off some things and for new tires for my vehicle. I got online and applied for the minimum amount of $1500 through Springleaf and receive an Approval notice with no collateral. The email said for me to contact the office to set my appointment, to bring in my ID, Check stubs and proof of residency. That was it. It does not say anywhere on the email that I had to go through further approval. I spoke with the office and she said she just needed to ask me questions about my income so that I could come in this afternoon to sign the paperwork. I gave her all of my information she asked for. I then get a callback a few hours later saying I'm not approved.

I was completely blindsided considering I was led to believe that I had already been approved AND my credit now has a hard inquiry on it for a loan that I'm not getting now - again after being told I was approved. This is absolutely sorry and sooo misleading to people trying to actually make an attempt to rebuild their credit and people who really need the money in tight spots. I will be sending the email and information to my sister who is an attorney when I speak with her on Thursday. I don't see how this can be a legal way of conducting business.

Paid off our loan on 8/8/16. Had to call to get copies of paid off loan, then still didn't get copies until the 31st. We are still waiting for the title of the truck. I have called 3 times - same runaround waiting on DMV etc. We traded the truck on the 29th and still waiting on title. Worst customer service. You are right they don't care.

Springleaf employees have always been eager to help me with any and all of my questions &/or needs. I would put it best by saying, "Springleaf has exceeded my expectations as the customer". Believe me, with 300 of my own customers that is hard to do. It's nice for once to know that when I am the customer I will be treated how I strive to treat my customers everyday. Thank you Spring for making the loan process quick and easy.

Applied for a personal loan of $7500. Did application online through Lending Tree. Decision from one company that would help which was Springleaf. Waited 3 days, getting emails to follow through with applying which I did by calling Springleaf and giving all my info to the rep. Was told I met the qualifications and was forwarding my call to my local branch. Rep came back and indicated the branch would contact me in an hour. 4 hours later, no call. I called the office and was informed they had been swamped and would submit the application. 1 hour later, got a call that loan had been approved for $3500. Asked me to come in and bring proof of income, voided check and ID. I arrived with the info and was informed that they would have to use $1700 of the amount to pay off a loan that I have in order to qualify.

Well, that loan has less than 6 more payments. Was told my income and debt requires that loan to be paid. Well why didn't they know that before I came in the office? I gave the rep my hourly pay rate that didn't include my overtime or bonuses when I applied. So there was more income year to date than they were given. Plus I didn't plan to pay off a loan that has a lower interest rate and only 6 more payments for a loan at 36 months and higher rate. That's ludicrous. Plus they asked about collateral, like a TV. What? So get a loan, pay off a loan, and walk away with less money than I needed to take care of other things I was trying to do. I HAVE NEVER. RUN FOREST RUN!!!

Was checking their rates, much like many other competitor sites. The next day I get a credit score update about a hard pull. It was not clear that they were hard pulling for a brief application. I applied on a couple other company sites and they soft pull. So, I was confused why they would hard pull for just a interest rate check. Called to see if they could correct, the customer service employee had no idea how to handle the situation. Asked for a manager, was placed on hold for over 30 minutes before I hung up.

I am a ongoing customer with Springleaf and was contacted a few days ago about expanding my loan for any of my needs. I went through the process and was told I could get up to 700 dollars and the manager would look it over for approval only to be denied after they are the ones that called me and then did a credit check for nothing. It really makes me mad. They should have not called me unless I was already eligible for extra cash.

If you want a scam loan then Springleaf is the place you want to go. When they open a loan for 4,000.00 after three weeks of having the loan I went into Springleaf financial and paid the 4,000.00 I borrow. The lady said I owe 250.00 for application and other fees. It went from 250 and 5 month then $949. All of this was strictly Springleaf's FEES ONLY. Keep in mind I was getting a statement every month that says current balance 0, past due amount 0, past due charges 0 but I was charged. Like I said if you want to be scammed go to Springleaf.

Troubling times... That's if you're a Springleaf customer. Never have I been so upset at myself as I am now for starting a relationship with Beneficial (HSBC) and now Springleaf. Bottom line... Worst customer service, totally crappy monthly statement and I've never EVER seen interest rates on a personal loan that high. And forget it if you need to speak honestly about what you and your family might be going through. They don't give a ** about what you're struggling with. Not a single thing about this company impresses me. Truly am sooo sorry I started doing business with these crooks and scammers. HIGHEST INTEREST RATES IN THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY. Better off going to Amscot or anywhere else.

I had to go out on disability (emergency situation) which put us in a financial downhill spiral. During this time we were able to do some payment deferments with (formerly Beneficial). We were told this would not reflect negative on our report and those payments would just be added to the end of the loan. I get a call from Springleaf the other day asking for the balance of the loan. Informed me the deferments were now due. She was kind enough to let me extend those payments but they have reported me late on our credit report. It has taken me years to recover from our hardship all for this to now happen.

I filled out an online application for Springleaf. It plainly stated this would be a soft pull and would not show up on my credit. They then did a hard pull or inquiry on not one but two different credit reporting companies. I filed a dispute and Springleaf stated to the credit report companies that I agreed to it. I did not even call them and went elsewhere for my loan. When I called and asked them to remove the inquiry they refused. Don't go near this company. They are liars and crooks.
