This is my 3rd time calling Serve through American Express. My card was being double charged for each transactions twice. I was told the amount was $306 originally that was on hold and then they said after the pending transaction went through they were able to confirm the amount that was being double charged which totaled out to $194. I was told the $194 will be refunded to my card within 3-8 days. I called a few days after to check the status and was told it hasn't reached 3-8 calendar days. Now it has been passed 3-8 calendar days and I still haven't received the refund to my card. The agent I spoke with today basically told me they don't see any double charges and the agent I originally spoke with didn't leave any notations.

The website is not showing all transactions but one charge that was double charged so I don't have a way to provide any documentation. I thought me reporting the issue at the time I realized it would be enough. I spoke with a supervisor in named Guru in the dispute department. He basically was no help and repeated same thing the prior agent said. I told him I would like to make a complaint to the headquarters or speak to his boss or someone higher up than him. He refused. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am also not the only one having issues with Serve. My gf and her sis are also experiencing issues with the card. If you are thinking of using Serve through American Express. I highly do not recommend. If you I suggested taking all your cash off and avoid swiping.

The first card bought in-store needed registration which included basically creating a bank account full with social security and answering sensitive questions dug up about past addresses linked to my social. From there I got an alert that the card could not be added to my new account. Called customer service and was told I could use the card bought in-store until it depleted but I could no longer reload it and that I would receive a new card in the mail.

It took nearly 2 weeks to finally get the new card with my name on it. I finally tried a mobile check deposit. The first check was rejected. I figured the check needed to have my name exactly as it appears on my account so I was issued a new check. Also rejected. I tried reaching out to Customer Service but now I'm being led to Ingo Money and I have to create an account through them in order to figure out why my check deposits are being rejected. I will be closing the account immediately, this has been a big waste of time. The idea was to have a reloadable card with funds available as soon as money is deposited but I have not been able to do either of these.

I called over 3 times for them to fix this glaring issue which they should've been able to fix over the computer. If they can see the issues. The issue was that I couldn't use my card since 1/28/25. One person said that I should take out 40 dollars and it would fix the problem. I did that. Did not fix the problem. The second person, says that my account was restricted. And within the next hour, I should be able to use my card. I asked that I should be able to use the card. They said yeah, no problem. Okay, within an hour I cannot use my card whatsoever.

Called the third time, and a male picked up and said to me on the phone that there was no restriction. No nothing. There was nothing with my phone. Despite what I was saying. I had to constantly keep saying it until I was yelling and cursing at him. He finally said, he would check once more. Once again saying there was nothing there. I even asked for the supervisor, they said I had restrictions and they could not remove it. ONLY internationals can remove it. And change around said there was no restriction despite saying it was. And couldn't transfer me over to anybody else. That was the last American. Everyone I talked to so far is ** who can barely speak English and somewhat understand it. Calling the international number, they also cannot help either as they cannot do it. This is Serve Amex Card.

Serve card is the worst! Customer service has to be the most UNHELPFUL set of guys I have ever talk to. I called 5 times, with no one being able to help, reading the screen to talk to me, rude, didn’t solve anything I needed, couldn’t change my number on my account, couldn’t change my number, absolutely no help. Then on the 6th time I called they left me on hold hoping I would hang up, saying, "I can’t help you." This is the worst card directly because of their customer service.

After beginning a new relationship and being sold on the whole AmEx Serve card by my partner, I began using it. Used it for several years. Never really had an issue that I had noticed other than being annoyed by the countless fees for everything from ATM withdrawals or even balance checks. Would be annoyed but never complained to them about it. I had signed up for Planet Fitness awhile back and as luck would have it, broke my leg and needed multiple surgeries. No exaggeration, 13 surgeries. After a year of not being able to go to the gym, but paying the membership dues and annual fee of $99 for equipment maintenance, I canceled my membership. To do so, I had to get a doctor's note stating I was unable to use the equipment and that it would be unhealthy for me to workout. My surgeon signed the note but wrote in his disagreement that the gym would require such an absurd documented statement to be signed.

Hand delivered it to the gym manager, thought nothing of it for a few months. Went to check my balance one day and noticed I had just been charged the monthly dues 3 times in a row, and 3 times for the annual maintenance fee of $99. Decided to call AmEx Serve to inquire about the transactions and told the agent that I wasn't supposed to be paying anything to Planet Fitness as my membership was canceled. The agent collected information and submitted a report for investigation. The next day, AmEx sends an email that they closed my account because I "fraudulently provided information to dispute transactions that were authorized". I wasn't even allowed to provide them the proof from Planet Fitness that I canceled my membership. No one spoke to me other than the agent that took the initial report. Nothing. They closed the account and I wasn't allowed to discuss it.

After inquiring with Planet Fitness, I discovered that someone called the gym to ask if I had a membership there. The manager said she was asked specifically, "has this person ever had a membership?". She said she replied yes. The caller then immediately said to her, "thank you. That's all I need". Then the call ended. The manager said she wasn't able to even say that I was no longer a member or anything. She also said she received notice that AmEx has demanding the return of payments issued to them on behalf of Amex customers and that all charges would be no longer approved and that AmEx was ending their relationship with the business. The manager was dumbfounded and said she didn't care because there was only two other members that used Amex and that not accepting Amex wasn't going to cause any issues for them. So Amex kept the money from the gym.

Closed my account, never received anything from it. And never received the balance on my account that was closed all because I said that I wasn't supposed to be charged. Where'd the money go? I never received it, the gym didn't get it. Went in the pockets of AmEx execs. So much for the protection from unauthorized transactions they heavily advertised. They are the fraud.

I was offered this card through Jackson Hewitt to receive my income tax return and everything was great till my phone company made 6 transactions to my debit card.. The phone company never charged my card and the transactions never went through however the Serve card put a hold on my money and still has not released my money and it’s been 5 days now.. When I call to make a complaint about putting a hold on my money I am told there is no one to make a complaint to and that I will have to wait 8 days for my money to be released back onto my card even though my card was never charged.. I will never use this card again..

I’ve had this card for about 7 years as a card that is not connected to my bank debit cards. Until now, I have not had any problems disputing transactions. However, everything is overseas now. My dispute was closed and I submitted evidence that I had canceled a subscription back in August. They paid the transaction in November.. I want my $49 returned because it should not have been paid.

I received this card for my birthday in June thinking it was a “Gift Card”. It’s not!! After activation, and a service charge of $9.95, they take out this same service charge every month. Now my balance is $0.25, and they told me they will continue to charge me the service charge until I close the account. The account can’t be closed until there is a zero balance so they suggest I reload the card (which is another service fee of $3.95) to get the balance where I can use all the funds. This is a total fraud!! I do not believe this is an American Express card. This company is not even in the United States, it’s in a different country. If you have friends or family members that give gift cards, please please let them know not to get this card. The recipient automatically loses $9.95 just by activating it. It's the worst card out there!!

Bought into the idea of free deposits. Worst mistake I've made shopping. The very first card I bought, wouldn't active. So I bought another one and another. The 5th card did the trick! But not until after I had to call their service line to get it started. Then I rescheduled the cap so I couldn't even use it for a whole month. Now they've got my cards locked with my money on them. I'm totally screwed. Serve is by far the worst. I look forward to throwing away all the cards on the shelf that say 'Serve' so no one has to go thru what I did.
