Consumer Complaints and Reviews
This company is absolutely terrible. I got calls at my work day in and day out, over and over. I politely asked them to not call my employer, they did NOT CARE! Mr. ** is completely disrespectful and was trying to get a hold of my manager of my work every day! Then, after I set up a payment they took it out the wrong day and started harassing me again! I WILL NEVER EVER REFER THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE AND I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THIS BUSINESS SHUTS DOWN JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER PAYDAY ADVANCE COMPANIES HAVE!
They were scheduled to take payments out of my account, for the first payment was handled correct then all of a sudden took the full amount plus an additional $236 dollars which caused my account to go into the negative and all my other bills to bounce. This left me broke for the entire month of December. Then when I called they just continued to lie to me.
Stay away from these crooks. No Matter how tight your money is, you are making a mistake if you borrow from these lenders. I took out a loan 6 months ago for $800. I have paid back in principal and interest $1,500.00. I called asking for a final payoff amount and they tell me I still owe $550.00. I Asked them, "How can that be, I have already paid you $1,500." They say the interest rate is 600%. I told them this is illegal, they laughed and said, "Tough, that's the agreement." New York sued these people to stop them from making these loans, however they haven't done much to protect the victims.
I borrowed $200.00. They want me to pay back $452.00. What a ripoff and very bad business. They made extra $204.00 from me...so upset with AdvanceMeToday.
On April 22, 2013 I got a loan for $500.00 from AdvanceMeToday. Here it's 9/9/2013 and they are still taking money out my account. I have pay back three times what I got $1575.00 and they say I owe $250.00 more.

I had borrowed money from AdvanceMeToday. I paid them all of the principal amount that I had borrowed, but the loan amount was not going down and they continued to take money from my bank account. I had to close my account. I sent them letters requesting they stop calling to try and collect. Now they are calling my place of employment even after I have sent them cease and detest letters. They also refuse to send me a debt validation letter. They are illegal to loan money in my state or any state for that matter.
I took out a loan in Oct. of 2012 for $500 and have paid back over $1,500 in fees and principal when I had to close my bank account. They have started calling my work and when I told them not to call me at work, they still do. My supervisor informed them I cannot receive phone calls at work. They told my supervisor that I okayed it (which I did not). I called them today and informed them again they are not allowed to call me at work. They claim that I still owe them over $250 and they will continue to call me at work if they want because I signed a contract saying they could. I told them if they call my work again, I will be turning them into the FTC. Do not work with this company.
Apparently, I had the wool pulled over my eyes here! I was in a tight spot and borrowed $400 at the end of December. It is now the beginning of May and they have taken over $1,100 as payback and apparently, I still owe just over $100. I was informed that there would be a $20 charge for every $100 borrowed. I was never informed of all of these extra charges that have happened and when I contacted the company, they said that I was indeed informed of the charges even though I wasn't!
I was misinformed by AdvanceMeToday.com about the terms and conditions of their loans. I borrowed $300 with the understanding that I was to pay $90 in interest or $30 for every $100 borrowed. I paid by ACH debit six times in the total amount of $540 in three months' time. Please be aware of this fraudulent company. I would not recommend or do business with them. They have over 117 complaints with the BBB and they are ranked #1 out of all businesses with over a hundred complaints in a single month. Please tell your friends and families to stay away from this company.
I hope this message reaches the right people. I have had an experience with AdvanceMeToday.com and the experience I had was terrible. I have had multiple rude conversations with the staff, some of which were supervisors. I have been lied to by the employees there. I am a single mother, who looked to this company for financial help, who is now in a financial bind. The arrangements and agreements have been altered and I have been misled.
This experience taught me a valuable lesson and I will never use this company again. They prey on people who really need help, but in fact you get no help at all in the long run. This was a nightmare, and they have terrible customer service, and the people I spoke to have no heart and no meaning for good customer service. The supervisors and employees should be sent to a training session on customer service skills. I have never regretted anything this much in my life.
After reading these reviews, I am a little concerned. I applied for a loan tonight, and was immediately contacted by someone with a foreign accent and a significant amount of background noise, like other people on the phones. I started to grow suspicious, and I asked the man I was speaking with if this was a scam. He said absolutely not, and that they are there to put money in to my account, not take it out. He said that I would receive an email shortly, and when I did, I found out that I was denied. I am thinking it was because of my verbalized suspicions and questions. I am just worried now, that since they have access to my bank account info and social security number, they are going to take money out of my account anyway. I am going to my bank tomorrow morning to see what I can do. This is just awful, and I am mad at myself for not being more thorough with my research before applying.
I am so sorry I got $400 from this company in December 2012. To date, I have paid $760 from my account. They still say I owe more and are set up to take it on my next pay. If you want to get a loan from them, you better be able to close your account after you get the money from them or you will be paying constantly. They sent me an email saying they would take $120 and because I complained about all the money being interest and no principal, they took $520. Don't do it. Don't get any money from them. They are horrible and I can't find the company in the U.S. which means they are probably in another country. I won't see that money but I won't be scammed like that again. I wish I had read this complaint site first. If you just got a loan, close your account immediately!
I was approved for a $250 loan and happened across the reviews here. I contacted them by phone to make absolutely sure their records showed my payment option as "Pay full balance on next pay-period" and the person on the phone became audibly upset and hurried to get off the phone. I received a call less than (not making this up) ten seconds later telling me in these exact words that my loan was denied due to unknown reasons. What a load of malarkey.
I took a $200 loan from this company back in early September of this year. In the process of taking the loan, I was offered the option to make payments of 60 dollars every two weeks. No problem, right? Wrong. They kept taking $60 every two weeks. When I called and questioned them on this (between September and October they took $260), they informed me that none of that money went towards the principal and that I still owed them the original loan amount plus another $60!
Well, in mid-November I was laid off. I called and informed them that I had been laid off and that we needed to halt the payments until my unemployment kicked in (in my state, that is running about 4 to 6 weeks). They told me that they couldn't do that but that they would go ahead and process another $60. Well, I could cover that, so I agreed but informed them that it would be my last payment to them and that $320 was certainly enough on a $200 loan.
I received a text message thanking me for my 60-dollar payment and then another text saying thank you for a $260 payment. So once again, I called them. I spoke with another person who again said that they were processing payments (more like a raid on my bank account!) for both amounts and there was nothing they could do. Folks, there wasn't that much money in my bank account! So, I promptly went to my bank and withdrew all the money in it. The 260-buck payment plus the 60-dollar payment bounced. I was charged $35 for each one of those amounts.
The next week they tried to take $440. The week after that, they tried to take $880. I'm afraid to see the next one! Again, my bank has charged me $35 for each one of those amounts. As far as I'm concerned, they have already received enough money. This kind of interest rate is absolutely outlandish, and to raid people's bank accounts like this has got to be fraudulent. Oh, and these people will call your phone about 30 times a day.
I attempted to cancel the loan on this company. I realized that the account number information was wrong. I called and was sent 3 forms to complete. I quickly completed them and returned as requested. I have several emails that the cancellation was successful. I was then called 2 weeks later inquiring about a payment. I kindly explained that it was cancelled and there should be no payment expected. I never received any funds from this company in my account. Someone said they would research. I wasn't satisfied with the response so I took the emails that they sent me, stating successfully canceled and replied back. I was told to call another number.
I called that number and spoke to Mr. **. He was very rude and fast talking. He told me he was a Christian man and his company is a million dollar company and would not risk their business for just $500.00. He lied and said my bank said I received the money when in fact, I didn't. They don't have the correct account number. He tried to get me to repeat my account information, but I would not do it. I know he would then try to get into my account. Long story short, do not do business with this company. It is a setup.
I took out a loan with this unreal company. I was told I would be charged $150 on a $500 loan. This company needs to be shut down completely. This is the worst experience I have ever had. I have never heard of such company and such unreal and rude people. These people are the most insane people I have ever heard of. Please, do not do any business with this company. I give them a minus star double.
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Louis hung up on me and refused to transfer me to his supervisor. I called back and asked to speak to a female supervisor and was given the same person, Louis. He kept arguing with me, telling me I was wrong, not his employee who gave me false information. They don't work with you and just keep taking money from your account.
I took out a $500 loan with this company and every payday (twice a month), they have taken $150 out of my checking account. That's $450 so far. Well, I noticed that what I had paid so far was only interest! After calling them, I was informed that I will be paying $950 for a $500 loan. I informed the manager that I will do a "stop payment" on their company and they won't be receiving another red cent from me again. Never use this company! They rip you off!
I took out a loan for 500 dollars. I was told that I would have to pay back 150 dollars every two weeks, when I got paid. I received a text before the payment came from my checking account. After four payments, I noticed that the principal was not decreasing. I owed 650 dollars. Thus far, I have made 600 dollars in fee payments only! The next scheduled payment is slated for 200 dollars! I telephoned to inquire about the lack of my loan not ending and what the 600 dollars that I paid was. I was rudely told that I agreed to pay the fees and interest and that if I did not pay the $650 in full, the fees would not increase to 200 dollars every two weeks and that I would owe $542.86. I stated I wanted to pay off the $542.86 that day and was told I could not, but that Advance Me Today would gladly take a void check for that amount for Tuesday. Do not allow this company anywhere near you checking account

This company has a Costa Rica address. Louis ** (because the managers don't take calls, they are too busy running a company) stayed on the phone for 1.5 hrs debating that I agreed to refinancing my $250 loan all the way to paying over $700. Btw, he stated that they don't have the 1st option anymore. You know the one that says you must call them or they will refinance your loan 4x (they probably got cited and I'm filing so I can get my part of financially terrorizing them). They kept taking money out of my account. The emails lead you to believe I was making payments. I explained to Louis that unethical business practice is Illegal. Here's how misleading this company is:
"Thank you for your loan payment in the amount of $110.00 on Friday, August 10, 2012 on loan number **. Your confirmation number is: **. Your remaining principal balance after the payment is: $150.00 and the due date for your next payment is Friday August 24, 2012. Depending on your bank, it may take three to five days for this transaction to appear on your bank statement. You can check your loan status at any time by visiting AdvanceMeToday and clicking on 'My Account'."
This says nothing about having to call to make the payment and if you don't call, it will rollover (refinance). See below. Because I did not call, on Aug 24th they did not take $150. They took $95 ($50 principal $45 interest) leaving me with another balance of $100 to charge me another pay period.
"Your scheduled payment of $95.00 will be processed Friday August 24, 2012 for loan number **. Your payment will be applied as follows: Principal: $50.00, Origination Fee: $0.00, Interest: $45.00, NSF: $0.00, Late Charge: $0.00, Total Payment: $95.00"
I received a loan for $400. The day I was going to pay it off, they took a $120. So I thought to myself, "They're taking payments; that's good. I don't have to pay it all back at once." Then two weeks later, they took out another payment of $120 but later that day, I received a letter or statement from Advance Me Today. My total balance was $400, so I told them to take it out the next payday to end this madness. He said, "To end it, it will be $520." Wow, this place is terrible. Don't ever do it. Their customer is poor. The guy just rambled on with extremely annoying words, never making sense. It's a scam, taking advantage of people in need at an economically bad time. Shame on you, Advance Me Today.
I have never felt the need to write a review for any company until today. Advance Me Today is nothing but a rip off and I am highly upset. I got desperate and took a loan for $300 with them. They gave me 3 payment options to choose from and I chose the obvious which is for some of my payment to go toward balance as well as interest. They took 3 payments of $90 from my account and not one of those payments went toward my balance.
Once I realized what they were doing, I paid requested to pay off the full balance which was $325. So in total, I ended up paying $525. I am trying to get more information on this company because the so called supervisor refused to give me a manager or higher up’s name. I intend to take some type of action against this company. So if anyone has any information that can help, I would appreciate it. I have had many loans in my lifetime and have never experienced anything like this, especially for a measly $300. I am so disgusted.
I took out an advance of $300.00 back in February, just to cover me until my income tax comes through. On their main webpage, it seems like I would be charged a $90 finance charge, plus interest. I have been paying since then, with my last payment being this June 29th. For that $300.00 loan, I paid into it $960.00, over 3 times the amount of the loan. I have already informed them that I will never do this again and I have cancelled my account. They are misleading and basically trap you in. I would not recommend using this service or any other online service like this. You will be robbed and have no way out of it.
I borrowed $300. I was told I could pay the amount in full plus $150 interest, but when I wanted to make the payment, I was told that I could not do this and that the payments could only be automatically debited from my account and only the amount they set. I tried to pay online and was unable to so. To date, I have paid $585 in interest and only $150 toward the principal. This is ridiculous and outrageous. They post on the web and say over the phone that you can explore other payment options but then when you go to their website or ask on phone, you find out that there are no other payment options. They take what they want when they want. I understand that it's my fault my credit is shot but that doesn't make me a bad person. Money is tight and I needed help but I should not have to pay three times what I borrowed and then deal with a company who is clearly misrepresenting themselves. Do not use any cash advance agency. You will pay far more than you borrowed and only make your financial situation worse.
I asked for a $200.00 loan, and now I have paid $180.00, plus the $200.00 I originally owe. I will never deal with this company again. I am changing my account numbers.
On December 28th I borrowed $300.00 from this company. On the 3rd, 17th, 31st, and 2-14 they deducted $90.00 each and today they deducted another $140.00. So we are now up to $500.00 plus they are scheduled to take another $125.00 out on the 13th. And they say my balance is still $250.00. $900.00 for a $300 loan--what the **! Plus the website says to contact them to make other arrangements. I did because I didn't have the money in the account for their withdrawal today. I asked them to hold off and I was going to pay the balance on Friday, March 2 but they said that once the loan is given there is nothing they can do to change payments. Why then? Does the website tell you to call and make other arrangements if they will not help?
They put the withdrawal through anyway and bounced 3 checks for $108.00 in NSF fees. I called the bank and they can't put a stop payment through because it will take 3 days for it to go through and the money will be paid by then. It is disgusting, the way some companies work. There should be a law against charging so much interest, which I found out is 900 and some percent with them. If anyone is reading these complaints, take them to heart and go somewhere else if it is absolutely necessary. Don't get started on these cash advances because you never get out from under them. Now, I have to try some other place to get the money to pay everything off so my regular household bills and rent are taken care of. This ** big time! I wish I would have read this before hand. Hindsight!
In early December, I signed up for a payday loan from AdvanceMeToday.com, a company out of New York and/or Puerto Rico. The loan agreement I signed clearly states I was to borrow $500 plus a finance charge of $150 totaling $650. To be paid back to AdvanceMeToday.on my next payday (12/15/11). I have a copy of the loan agreement. However, they withdrew funds as follows: On 12/15, $150; 12/30, $150; 1/15, $150; total amount $450.
I called to ask why they had not withdrawn the total amount due of $650 on 12/15 as originally agreed. They told me they have no such agreement and will continue to withdraw money out of my account until they are satisfied. At this date, they have issued a withdrawal from my bank account for $650 on 1/30/12. I contacted my bank and had them put a stop payment on this transaction due to a dispute over charges.
I am more than happy to pay this company the $200 I still owe them per our original agreement. I do not and will not be scammed out of an additional $400. I am making a complaint against a company that is trying to victimize me out of more money than was agreed upon according to the loan contract. Thank you.
I borrowed $500.00, as I needed to pay some outstanding bills. The $500.00 was deposited in my account on 8/18. I have had a variety of payments taken out of my account, for each one of my paydays. Up until 12/23, the total amount they have taken from my account is $1450.00 for a $500.00 loan! I still have $325.00 left to pay for a grand total of $1775.00! This is flat out robbery! It's bad enough the government rips us off, but this is illegal as it gets.
I took a payday loan for $500.00. It was explained to me that the cost of the loan would be $25.00 per $100.00 borrowed, when in actuality, we were being charged over $600.00 in finance charges for a $500.00 loan. To make matters worse, when we tried to pay off the loan earlier in order to prevent accruing even more interest charges, we were told that we would be charged extra for an early payoff. We were blatantly lied to about the cost of the loan. Biggest scam ever, setting us back even more during this stressful holiday season.
This company lied to me about the amount of money that I had to pay back. They said they sent me documents, but they didn't. They keep taking money out of my account and telling me that was all interest, that I had to keep paying more money. On their website, it states one thing about repayment. According to them, it's something different.
They took four payments of $105. I thought this was the repayment for the loan, because it says for a $350.00 loan, you would end up paying $455 in interest and fees in total. That is what I thought. I thought that for a $350.00 loan, I would have to pay back $455. That is what the girl told me. So, they took out four payments of $105.00 and then took another $155. Today they said it was all interest. This company is from another country and should not be allowed to run this scam in the US. I am going to find out if there is something that can be done to prevent this from happening to someone else.
