My husband and I took out a small loan of $200. To repay it back, my husband agree for the company to take $20 out of his account every other week. So after the loan was paid back, Advance America continues to take $20 out of my husband’s account. As of right now, they have overcharge my husband by $80. When I called customer service, they wouldn’t talk to me even though I am on the account. My phone number is the number we put down because I am easier to get ahold of. Plus, their customer service skills in that call center are a joke. First of all, he wouldn’t even look up the account number or help me in anyway. He said my husband had to be here and I asked why and he couldn’t give me an answer. He kept repeating himself over and over again. This company is not trustworthy. I know our loan was small but if they continue to take out $20, just think how much more they could take out with an even bigger loan?
Advance America is a great place to get extra help when you need it. I've used them many times over the past 6 years, they have gotten a bad rap here lately. If you have a hard time managing your finances then don't go to advance america with unrealistic ideas, advance america is a company just like any other company and they need to make money in order to stay in business, if you check around you won't find a better business for short terms loans like advance america has, they are upfront with there pricing (cheapest prices I've found). People have to be responsible for how they use their money. It's not advance America's job to do that, so if you know you can't pay the price Don't get a loan! I highly recommend advance america that are wonderful to work with, just use your common sense. They started this company to make money (not friends) so if you understand that going in you will have a great business minded relationship with them.

Hello. I had a very bad experience with this company and I am a person on low income and I felt like this company took advantage of me. I don't think I will ever be doing business with them again and they don't care about people on SSI. They just care about ripping people off and the way that the customer service people answer the phone and how they mistreated me today that deteriorates my Business relationship with them. They were very rude and disrespectful and ignorant and inconsiderate too. I do not recommend this company you'll be better off suffering without. I don't think these people are out there to try to help people at all and the sad part is I'm a new customer to this type of situation. I never use these type of services. I was always leery of these services and I should have trusted my first gut instinct and not use them but at the time I needed them for emergency purposes. I'm very upset and disappointed with this company.
First, the application process was a chore, and broken in a couple ways. The uploading feature for photographs and ID verification did not show when a document had been uploaded, so I ended up uploading multiple copies by accident. Then, because I submitted the application and was approved at around 10:40 am instead of before 10:30am, they couldn't guarantee I would receive the funds by end of business that day, a Friday. So I waited until Monday at close of business: no funds. I emailed customer support to ask why my funds had not been received, and got a form email stating that sometimes it takes a while to be approved, etc.
When I emailed again saying that I was approved, I got another form email saying if I wanted to make changes to my loan, to contact customer service in a different way. I logged into the account to try the chat support function, and saw my application had been voided. Having had no warning, phone call or email saying the loan was or would be voided, I called to find out why. Customer support by phone stated that the bank account information I had entered on my application was incorrect, and therefore the loan was voided altogether.
When I protested that I had copied and pasted my bank account information into the application field directly from my bank's website, and that no error was shown during the application or approval process, and asked if the loan could be un-voided, the customer support agent told me that the only way to do that is go through the whole application and approval process again. It is my belief that they may not have had enough money to pay out everyone's loans on that particular day, and used the incorrect excuse that I had entered my bank account information incorrectly. I would recommend no one ever use their services, and hope the company shuts down for good soon.
I watch my credit closely so I was in shock when Advance America placed a collection account on my credit report. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCOUNT WITH ADVANCE AMERICA!! I have disputed the account twice with no luck, has anyone else had this happen to them? What was the solution, I'm definitely not paying it, it's not my debt!
Regarding Advance America Installment loans. I just want to share my experience with Advance America. I was a loyal customer for many many years for payday loans which is max of $255 in CA. Always paid my loans off had no issues. Well I made the mistake of getting an installment loan due to needing a little more money and it was a huge mistake. This company is no different than all the rest that prey on vulnerable people in urgent financial situations. With not such good credit. I never understand why you would want to jack up the interest on someone who is already financially compromised.
They already know that we will struggle paying the installment loan back in full due to the astronomical interest they apply to your loan. So you end up paying them over a year according to your paydays. Well what happened is I borrowed just under $2,500 ended up paying them over $5,000 which is double the principal borrowed. I ran in to more financial difficulties and could not keep up with payments which was like $265 every two weeks. Even knowing I was a customer for years they were relentless in getting more money out of me. After I believe two years they didn't just charge my account off they sold it to some dirty collection agency. Just so that they could get a few more dollars. Now I got them calling and harassing me all the time.
Believe me, these installment loans are traps. Do not fall for it. You are better off borrowing the money from family or a friend even though that could be embarrassing for some people. The pure stress and the harassment you would be avoiding is more than worth going with another option. These loan companies should be regulated on how much interest they can charge on a loan. Some are even more ridiculous than Advance America. In my opinion it's a criminal act to charge people hundreds of percent on loans. The only thing I can think of is the government allows this because they are benefiting from it. All my brothers and sisters out there my advice to you is find another way. Good luck.

I borrowed $500 and have already paid back almost $1500 and I still owe $560 for payoff. They told me the state requires them to charge 75% interest. I have had several loans from them and don't understand why this one is costing me so much. I live on ssi so the money I've paid on interest has made it where I can barely survive. I understand that they are in to make money but 75% interest doesn't seem fair. Once it's paid off I will not get any more loans there. They rip people off.

When I 1st created the account, I did not have any issues at all. I did 2 loans from them and paid both loans back before they were due in full. Now I try to apply for a a loan and I get denied because my account was flagged for possible fraud activity. When I called to try to get an explanation nobody is able to explain why this happened. I don't know what's going on. Every time I call to try to get some direction they tell me to call the credit bureau, when I call the credit bureau they tell me to contact Cash Advance America. I think it's a little ridiculous that you get turned down for loans when you've paid them before they were due. At this point I'm going to find out how to disable the account completely and I just will not use their services.

They do what they say - they loan you the money for a "Payday Loan" and deposit it into your bank account by the following business day, but, they also take the money you owe them out of your bank account the "day before" your paycheck is deposited into your bank account... Hence the term "Payday Loan", which means a loan until your next payday or pay date. The result of Advance America taking the money I owed them out of my bank account the “day before” my payday caused my bank account to be overdrawn. I would give a "Zero" Star Rating if I had that option.
This company deposited a total of three checks for verification. They all bounced after I purchased Apple Card’s they said for verification process. Now I owe my bank $9000. They are liars and thieves. Mr. ** sent checks from a fake bank from Joe’s garage in IL. Then they all were fraudulent. Beware of them!!
