Consumer Complaints and Reviews
Myself and some coworkers were contacted that this was a hardship grant and we were to receive up to $25,000 for home, car, repairs or to pay off bills. You had to pay $$39.99 with a post office money order or use your credit card. You were to receive a letter in the mail letting you know how much you were to be rewarded in 4-8 weeks after June 25, 2010. It is September 29, 2010 and I nor any of my coworker or my family have heard anything. I received a letter for Debt Free America-dba/Liberty(freedom) Shapers stating, "Sincerely awaiting you award," saying if I had any question I could email them at ***@***.com but this webpage can't be pulled up and the phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx is disconnected.
This company is saying they have a hardship application and you can receive up to $25,000 and they charge $40 processing fee and then when you receive the check they have/will deduct 3% from it. The deadline is June 20, 2010. No email address and now they are moving. The company said all you have to do is complete the application and sign it. Only qualifications is you must be a US citizen. It is called the Obama-Biden Plan. Is this legal and who can I contact to find out if this is true or someone who is just out for profit?
I've been enrolled with Debt-Free America for almost three years. This past July, Debt-free America was (I guess) acquired by a new company. At the time I was paying $148.00 a month plus a "buffer" of $37.00. I missed the note from the new company stating to contact your 3rd party (debt-free) to cancel any auto withdraws that is not being taken out from the new company. Debt-free of America has been taking out that "buffer" amount since July of 09, which should have been stopped at that time. I contacted by bank to make a "stop payment" on this automatic withdraw from my checking. What I need is to find out what banking institute was withdrawing this money and to get a 6-month return on that money. I'm out about $220.00 because I cannot get ahold of anyone at Debt-Free America to have them to stop the automatic withdraw for the "buffer" and to see how I can get my money back.
