Consumer Complaints and Reviews
A rep from Crusader called me on the 13th of February 2010, promising to settle my credit card debt at a fraction (40%) of what I owe. The rep told me that I would need to sign an agreement with Crusader but that the agreement can be cancelled at anytime if I was not satisfied. He told me that the money that they withdrew from my account would go to an escrow account and that the funds would be returned to me if the agreement is cancelled. I signed the agreement to start the program in March 2010. They made 24 withdrawals ($356.92 x 24 = 8566.08) from my checking account over a period of two years. In this period, they settled my four account out of five with an average of 49% and last account they want me to pay another $2.6K. So after two years of hardship and embarrassment, I come to know that my total settlement of $13K will end up in $11.5K. I will save $1.5K after two years.
The promises made by the company are fake. They just give 40% settlement offer to attract the client. They took 15% as service charge and another three months of my installment as retainer fees. My last account got me in the court and they will settle it for may be 65-70% of my total amount. My retainer money never helps me and I never know for what they took retainer fees. They promise in their fees lawyer of their company included so where these retainer fees do come. People should get to know the tricks and gimmick of this company. I really want someone to take legal action against this company. I strongly suggest people not to go to this company. Rather, you settle it for yourself and it will be more beneficial to you on financial ground. I'm still fighting with them for my retainer money.
I enrolled for debt for consolidation for sometime last year, and now I have one more account left that wasn't settled yet that I know I paid already to them, but it wasn’t settled to my creditor. The Crusader didn't submit any payment to US Bank that I owed. All the fees and dues that I needed to pay them was made by me, but they didn’t give good services to me. They keep on promising to settle my accounts, but up to now its not done yet. I called them many times, but I cannot get the right person to talk to.
This is very emotional distress on me, I trusted them to settle my accounts thinking that I have a lesser burden from my debt, but they caused me more emotional stress.
Crusader refuses to refund me the money they withdrew from my checking account for debt settlement services when no service has been rendered. A rep (Michael **) from Crusader called me on the 14th of April 2010, promising to settle my credit card debt at a fraction (45%) of what I owe. The rep told me that I would need to sign an agreement with Crusader but that the agreement can be cancelled at any time if I was not satisfied. He told me that the money that they withdraw from my account would go to an escrow account and that the funds would be returned to me if the agreement is cancelled. I signed the agreement to start the program in May 2010.
They made four withdrawals ($987.08x3 + $1500) from my checking account over a period of four months beginning on May 27 and the 27th of the subsequent months to August. The amount that they withdraw is determined by the time frame that I wanted to have the debts settled in. To this point, no settlements had been made on my credit card accounts, yet I noticed that most of the money that they withdrew went into settlement fees.
My creditors contacted me and I told them that I was working with Crusader to settle my debts. They (my creditors) informed me that they have not been contacted by Crusader and that they are unwilling to work with a debt settlement company like Crusader. They told me that they would be willing to work with me to settle the debts. I immediately contacted Crusader and they (Maria, Jason **) informed me that they haven't done anything with the accounts yet because they need to accrue the settlement fees first before they start working on the accounts.
I told them that I wanted to withdraw some of the accounts and work with the creditor to settle them myself in order to reduce the fees that I'm being charged by Crusader. They dropped the creditors that I requested but then cancelled the agreement saying that the creditors that I left with them will not allow them to meet their financial targets.
They then refunded me $1006 of the $4461 that they withdrew from my checking account from May through August 2010. They claim that they are keeping over $3400 of my money for the "work" that they performed on my account. I have repeatedly requested that they return my funds less their monthly account maintenance fee ($8.35). They are refusing to refund saying that I violated their agreement.
Nowhere does it say in the agreement that I cannot withdraw an account from their program, yet they used that as a reason to cancel the agreement. I spoke with Jason ** to try to come to a resolution but he refused to provide me with a refund. Their resolution is to have me restart the agreement with them and have them continue to withdraw money from my account at a cost of $8.35/month for 12 months and then they will look to settle out my accounts.
This is unacceptable to me because it will completely destroy my credit and besides I can save my money myself without paying a $8.35 monthly fee. The bottom line is, I need the rest of my money refunded back to me. I am trying to get myself out of debt and do not have free money to give to Crusader Services.
I was contacted by a person (Allen **) about debt settlement. He presented a program. I later found that the first 3 months were up front and still later found out that more than half of the next months were fees. Crusader claims that they were only sales people for a law firm Bay View. They will not talk about refunding the $3050 that I paid them which has all gone to fees. GA law says that for profit companies are not allowed and no upfront fees. All the talk about law groups and settlement companies is an attempt to circumvent GA law and swindle people. GA law provides for suit for refund + up to $5000 and criminal misdemeanor. Crusader refuses to discuss the matter. I have loss the $3050. Been yelled at. Justin brother of Jason said "I don't know who the hell you think you are." Been physically and mentally upset.
