So I was using the free site and I noticed I had a bunch of likes and the site pressured me to sign up to see all these people who've liked me. I signed up and started messaging some of the people back. Literally all the people I messaged said they've never even seen my profile yet alone liked it. Some people were not even from the same country who had no idea who I was when I had the radius to people close. Basically here to save you trouble. This site is a scam, you're not likely to find someone here. Even if you pay, beware and run!
Here's the straight dope! Written 30AUG2021.
- If you "like" somebody, a picture, a comment (from their exhaustive system of profiling questionnaire queries), etc. -- you have the opportunity to message them, FREE!
- The amount of likes you can give is limited on a 24-hour basis. I don't know the 24-hour period starts with the age of your profile or if there is a universal, site-wide window that resets same time of day for everyone.
--- I think the daily limit is somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30, I never counted but it seemed reasonable to me because I'm picky so I only reached limit first day 'cause I went HAM.
- You can message unlimited with any other profile that MATCHES (reciprocates your like) you.
- On the mobile, it is super easy to accidentally "like" since they use swiping for both the "like" feature as well as browsing user photo albums -- BE CAREFUL!! Haha.
- you can set matching preferences, e.g. age range, gender, sexual orientation, body-type, etc. BUT THEY ARE NOT ENFORCED FOR FREE USERS (I don't know about premium, I assume so but cannot certify since I didn't pay).
--- if you care about any kinda strict matchmaking criteria, do NOT depend on the site's system to filter out any non-negotiables you specify in your preferences -- the site "don't care".
If you can stomach all that, give it a whirl -- depending on population density near you -- you might get a couple bites. Keep expectations low and you'll be okay. In the 3-4 days I tried it, I'm still talking to one of my matches. 3 girls matched, 1 was an "accidental like", the other 2, 1 I was just kinda puttin' a feeler out, and the last was a genuine interesting prospect -- she's the one still talkin' to me. They were 3 "mutuals" of of the 21 likes I received in a 96-hour window...the other 18, I assume were like another reviewer commented, and prolly fake or dead/inactive profiles.
I literally only deliberately commented or gave a "like" to maybe 20 girls or pictures or whatever out of the 4-5 hundred profiles I saw. I eventually reached the end of the "stack" (potential matches) and there are like 4-5 stacks based on "online status," "proximity/location," "match" level (which is based on the compatibility of answers in their personality questionnaire), "recommended" (assume it's a different form of match compatibility but have no insight as to how it differs from "match"), and then "passport" which is if you wanna find international candidates. There's the straight dope, y'all!

I was on OkCupid for over a year! Everyday you will get 2-5 interests,,, Everyday you will be ghosted by 2-5 you started messaging in the last 2 days... Rarely one will message you for 3 days!!! Got texts,,many at 6:30 a.m.! But all from Text mail subscribers... NEVER ONCE did I even get one of these FAKES on the phone! These SCUM need to be in JAIL and REFUND all our money AND pay us for our time!!!
People need to realize OkCupid, Tinder, POF and basically all the popular ones are bought by Match Group. You jump from app to app trying to understand why you cannot find matches. In reality, all these use the same deceptive practices to scam people. For example show fake or years old non-active profiles or far away people, so you keep swiping until desperate enough to pay for "boost" or find out that all your 100 likes are from overseas fake people.
I accumulated 56 "likes" over a 2-day period, then paid $75 for 6 months to see the "likes". 1 - EXACTLY ONE was from within the continental United States. All others were from overseas. South Africa, Kenya, Italy France, Thailand, Israel, Columbia, Belarus, Argentina, Germany, Russia, Belgium, and 22 from the Philippines! I was a member 10 years ago and it wasn't like this. They've changed their business model it seems. I'm NEVER going back to this site.
Have to pay membership to see anything even though it's supposed to be free. But I got nothing can be done unless you pay for it. Just not what it says to you at all in there are terms and conditions.
I strongly advise everyone to stay away from OkCupid scammer fraud site. It's just as bad as scammer fraud Facebook, The first 3 days after signing up with okcupid without paid version, I get 39 unknown likes I cant view , and okcupid tells me I have to pay $60 just to view likes and send messages and denies me from sending likes, then okcupid blows my email up with spam emails from strange email addresses. Okcupid has no customer support at all. It's all FAKE and a SCAM. I also received 2 strange fake profile intros from China with fake pictures and fake info.
Furthermore the only response I received was from a lady that was telling lies about herself in her profile falsely claiming she was single and alone but really is living with her baby daddy and her daughter doing this okcupid stuff behind his back, and claims she has multiple men she gets with behind her baby daddy back. It seems that all she wanted from me and every other guy was phone sex and porn pics, once I refused she was gone like the wind. So to all you married men or married women or anyone who has a boyfriend or girlfriend, you will probably find your lover on okcupid trying to cheat on you with a hookup maybe even for money. Okcupd is disgusting. I hope the feds shut it down soon.
Okcupid has unfortunately gone the way of most dating sites; that is, it's a scam. I signed up and immediately had 20 likes behind a paywall. As soon as I paid, I found an additional pay wall. Once I paid the likes were all revealed to be outside of my geographic area, which was a deal breaker. I am Autistic and extremely lonely, and it is embarrassing that I fell for such a scam. I deleted my account in less than 24 hours. This is a predatory bait and switch company, and I hope this review dissuades others from using it in the hopes of finding love. A pox on the House of Okcupid, and all those who sit inside it.
OkCupid.com is the worse free dating site on the Internet. Half of the accounts are spammed or Ai. Instead of okcupid.com going after these spammed and Ai accounts, they go after petty pictures of my posted pictures of tattoos on me. I can post my pictures of my tattoos on any other social media platform, but okcupid.com has says I violated their rules and they don't allow you to challenge their rules, no one to contact. If there is a contact, chances is, you'll never be able to speak to a Rep, you'll be speaking to a Ai rep.
Half of the people on okcupid.com are drug addicts or gang members trying to set you up to be robbed or somehow you'll be catfished. okcupid.com cannot trusted with any of your information, just to the fact, only time these accounts of Spam and Ai are reported by the users not by the Admins of okcupid.com. They'll take your personal information and sell it without your knowledge, or the spammed and Ai accounts that is on OKcupid.com will breach your personal information and exploit it to the fullest.
I am very most disappointed about OKC, maximum user are fake or Escort service provider. One most dangerous thing about the users is that most of match are Honey trapping user. I hope OKC check this issue.

OKCupid.com is a free site that offers members the ability to upgrade their experience by subscribing to a premium membership. Created in 2004, the site serves millions of members through a unique profile format and optional question and answer section.
Unique profile format: Many dating sites only ask members to tell a little bit about themselves and who they are looking for. OKCupid makes it easier to learn more about prospective dates through open ended profile questions including six things you can't live without, what you are good at, what you are doing with your life, what you like to do on a friday night and more.
Thousands of optional questions: OKCupid has a unique feature that allows you to answer as many or as few multiple questions on topics ranging from values and relationship goals to personal hygiene and basic math skills. You can then compare your answers to those of people whose profiles you are viewing.
Advanced search algorithm: Users can choose both physical and value-based attributes to search for, improving the quality of the matches they find. Some criteria are only available via upgraded membership.
Anonymous email network: Users can email potential matches through OKCupid.com's own messaging service, allowing them to keep their identities and contact info private until they are ready to share it.
Profiles are screened before being posted: OKCupid.com staff screens profiles and photos before posting to ensure only appropriate information makes it onto the site.
