What is Optimum?

Optimum is an internet, cable and phone company that provides services in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The company offers bundle packages that combine services for a better value. Through the Altice One app on Apple TV, Optimum customers can access all their television channels and streaming apps in one place.

Optimum internet plans

Optimum Online is available without an annual contract. Installation charges range between $99 and $149.99. The company offers protection plans for $7.99 per month that cover standard service visit fees.

  • Pricing: Optimum internet ranges from $24.99 to $69.99 per month. Taxes, fees and other charges may apply.
  • Internet speed: Optimum internet speeds start around 200 Mbps. Gig service has download speeds up to 940 Mbps. Please note that Optimum does not guarantee internet speeds — traffic, servers and your computer’s hardware or software configuration can affect your internet speed.
  • Hotspots: Optimum has more than 2 million Wi-Fi hotspots. To use Optimum internet hotspots, you need to be within range of a hotspot and have a Wi-Fi-enabled device, a current subscription to Optimum Online and your ID and password.

Optimum cable TV packages

Through Altice One, Optimum’s home entertainment platform, customers can combine television and streaming apps into one package.

  • Pricing: Optimum TV packages cost between $59.95 and $109.95 per month, depending on the service tier.
  • Channels: Optimum offers three tiers of cable television: Core service has 220 channels, Select service has 340 channels and Premier service has more than 420 channels, including premium options like HBO, Showtime and Starz. Sports packages and international channels are also available.
  • Equipment and features: The Bluetooth-enabled remote control lets you control your equipment with voice commands. You can also access on-demand programming and record up to 10 shows at once with multi-room DVR.

Basic packages with Core TV and Optimum internet start at $64.99 per month plus taxes, fees and charges with a 24-month contract. Television packages start at $59.95 per month.
What modems are compatible with Optimum Online?
Select Arris, Netgear, Cisco and Motorola modems are compatible with Optimum Online. Please note that Optimum doesn’t allow you to use retail voice modems unless purchased from the Arris store.

    Optimum Gateway Brooklyn. My experience at this new renovated office was excellent. The office was very clean, felt warm and inviting. The employees were willing and anxious to help. I was greeted by Jeff my sales associate. Jeff was professional and very helpful. Although my visit was regarding equipment return, he discussed mobile services and all the benefits of having it all combined. Optimum is very lucky to have an employee that is eager to help the business grow. Congratulations to Jeff!!!

      I had been a customer for several years. Optimum internet made sure they got their monthly fee on time and in full. When it came to cancelling the service I was confronted with terrible customer service. I have attached a screenshot that shows how long it took to do a simple cancellation of my internet with them. I was put through 4 different people all trying to convince me that I needed to keep the service. They were very pushy and unprofessional when I simply asked to cancel the service. They kept telling me “this is our process we have to go through”. I will never ever again be involved with this company. I rather do without internet. The whole experience was so offputting!!! Do not sign up for anything with this company. Save yourself the headache.

      I want to thank Kayron in the Tyler, Texas Optimum store for his excellent customer service. With power outages in the area due to the weather, I tried to make a phone call and got a "Call Failed" message. Within minutes, he was able to look up my account and install a new ESim card and I was up and running! I appreciate his efficiency in helping me as a Optimum customer!

      If I could rate Optimum less than one star, I would. Their product is good but their customer service is horrible. I just spent 1 hour and 14 minutes trying to cancel my service. It took talking to 4 separate individuals and listening to offer after offer to keep my business then saying no over and over again. I first tried to cancel 9 days ago. They didn't, and now I have to pay for an extra billing cycle. They have the record of me trying to cancel but recorded it as I was still considering their offer even though I was disconnected from their service.

      They will not consider not charging for this last month where I wasn't even connected to their service. This is not the only labored and unpleasant discussion I have had with them. When I tried to cancel a year ago, they made an offer, supposedly for 5 years, I thought was satisfactory, but in about a year all of the sudden I had to start renting their modem. If you have any other choices, stay away from Optimum!

      Optimum are the biggest crooks. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to cancel service!!!! And even after you finally cancel it they will still be taking payments out of your account!!!! Such a dishonest business and the service is not that great!

      On 4/10/2026 at 1:47 pm Mastec was contracted to come and do a installation, in the process wires were cut and left exposed, multiple neighbors lost all service and when approached regarding the issue refused to correct the problem. When it was escalated to Cutis in escalations I was informed they would not be sending anyone until the next day, no supervisor was available and it is what it is. I will be posting this in may placed as exposed wires endanger those passing and the location is 200 yards from an elementary school. This is completely unacceptable! Exposed wires, kids and multiple affected does not warrant an emergency visit? What kinda of company does that!

      This has to be one of the worst companies for internet. I was with them for years because where I lived they were one of two. Internet always went out of it got too hot or too cold. I got a ton of discounts but that only does so much. I moved and they offered me four months for free and about a year with discounts.. No thanks. They still call me to this day and I haven’t been with them two years now. Actually crazy. They wouldn’t email or give me any information to where I turn in the equipment at all. I had to drive three hours out of my way to find a store and turn it in. They are still trying to say I owe them around $50 to this day because it’s “late.” No information. A third party installed the internet and router and could never find there store or get information about a closer on. I lived in a small town. Actually insane. They said it would be handled and fixed. It hasn’t.

      I would have been better served to go with DirecTV. The customer support amounts to a recorded self-help or chat service that almost never comes to a usable end. Run!!!! Don’t walk away from Optimum. If I could leave zero stars, I would.
