Be mindful of your charges to cc. Thankfully I had alerts set up to catch the first pull, even though I had never retained my information on their systems. Refunds are not processed either. Caveat emptor.
No business should base its decision to provide a service to any member based on a political opinion and truthful factual reporting by licensed professionals. This is a nefarious move by Patreon. I wouldn't support this company at all.
Something really fishy is going on here. I discovered a creator was stealing content from someone else and selling it off as theirs. I contacted Patreon because this was against their community guidelines and also asked Patreon for a refund. I didn't hear back from them for a whole month before they told me that they'll investigate and in the meantime I need to contact the creator directly for a refund. I contacted the creator who then blocked me, and when I contacted Patreon to inform them that he's blocking me after I asked for my money back, they suspended my account because they accused me of harassing the creator.
The only time I ever spoke to the creator directly was to message him and ask for a refund and he didn't even respond to me, he just blocked me. $250 wasted and my credit card continues being charged by Patreon for a subscription service that I ended six months ago. I had to call my bank and cancel the credit card because Patreon continues charging it six months after I don't even have an account with them anymore. How on Earth can a company like this exist??? It should be illegal to operate a business like this.
I had been using Patreon for a few years with no problem. I always thought that everyone who had a problem with them was being a bit dramatic. How wrong I was, that line of thinking bit me where it financially hurt. I logged into my account one fine day and the nightmare began. Some creator that I had never heard of, or even seen in my life was charging my account! They had succeeded in charging me over $300 in donations to them before I could lock my card. They were still trying to charge $200 more! I had immediately changed all passwords, authentification, and emails associated with my account. I contacted my card company to cancel those charges and cards. Then I emailed Patron to tell them about what happened just to basically inform them. I thought that was the end of it.
Skip a day and I get an email about my email to them and how they would look into it. However, they needed some information. I provided them the information they asked for, being completely open and acquiescing to everything they asked. At this time I was still able to log in to my account. Skip a few days emailing back and forth, I then get an email saying my account was suspended, I ask why, and they tell me that because my card company did a chargeback, they can no longer reinstate my account. So I am being punished because I did not want over $300 taken from me and took action against it! Thanks a lot, Patreon!
They make it completely impossible to reach them and to request a refund or to cancel a subscription. Completely and totally unscrupulous business practices. Haven’t had a reply nor return emails. Good luck to you.
Try to get in touch with these people??? Sure. You can go through all of their diversion email tactics forever, Asked for a return call at least 4 times--no return. Try to cancel their service--good luck--their email solution never worked for me-(one of the reasons I needed to talk). They just kept throwing a full page of instructions at me via emails. I hope these artist wake up and realize how pathetic Patreon is at customer service--this reflects real bad on the artist for who recommends them, While my Banjo instructor seems very good (Eli **), directing me to this company really was a poor choice. Not sure, but is sure smells of a scam to me. I don't have a lot of money wrapped up in this--not the point--what if I did? STAY AWAY from this company at all cost. Don't be suckered into using this service.
I demanded a refund from a scammer who was selling stolen content on their account and passing it off as if it was theirs. Patreon told me to contact the creator for a refund but the creator soon blocked me. I contacted Patreon support and they said they'll look into it. Then after a month I asked how it was going and they suspended my account. I have yet to receive the $30 I paid for content I didn't know was stolen. Don't fall for this scam. Honestly it's a rip-off.
Their customer service team is nearly impossible to reach. I don't get how they're able to get away with taking people's money and then either passing off responsibility of refunds on the creator or just ignoring the request altogether. It's really disgusting what they're doing and you should seriously stay away from suspicious business practices like from this company.
In addition to their billing being completely non-functioning, there's literally nobody moderating the content of this website. I came across a user who was filming children being sexually abused in a psychiatric hospital and when I contacted Patreon to report the page, they just ignored it and then suspended my Patreon account. These are children! And mentally ill children, some sick idiot films themselves taking advantage of children not mentally competent to provide consent, I don't understand what is going on here. How is Patreon still a company? How are they still able to host such egregious content involving children being abused in a hospital and still function? As I write this review, the Patreon account posting the illegal videos is still functional and with over 1000 subscribers! It makes no sense to me!
I'm a new to Patreon, and in a few months with a small number of followers I had to solve a payment issue with Patreon Help Center. Even though from the first message I explained why I see miscount, proved with screenshots comments under unpaid by this site videos, meaning they were viewed and supposed to be charged. They said "you had no Patreons that period." I asked what about screenshots? My host as well this month showed views numbers under my videos that linked to Patreon only. Well, they just went ghosting, no reply, no explanation, no compensation just gas-lighting and went to silence. I feel robbed and also psychological abused by their response. If there would be no comments, but there were and logically I had members that could access to my product and post their comments. Anyway. Avoid this site, seems they rob users and get away using passive-aggressive antisocial tactics.
So, in short - the content maker promises something with their subscription. Turns out, they don't provide that, as promised - not to anyone, it's fake. I report it to the creator - nothing happens. I report it to Patreon, they tell me to report it to the creator. Nothing happens either way. As far as I know, they're still falsely claiming this 'perk' is being delivered, when it's obvious to anyone who knows how to check, that it's not. Patreon don't care, because it's a creator that makes them money, I guess! Creators who deliver - there are subscribers like me who won't trust Patreon again - so think hard about who you work with. Your reputation is also theirs.
This platform unlawfully sent the sheriff to my house on March 23, 2021, based off a false report from Patreon. Any consumer that uses this platform whether paid or a creator gets demonized for telling the truth. Don't recommend.
I subscribed to a video reaction account called ScribeCash. I really liked her reactions. I paid for the $10 level subscription, as her Patreon page said I would get a video review of my choice. I messaged her the selection. After weeks of waiting for what I paid for, or at least just some reply from the Patron, I contacted customer service to request a refund. Initially, they said it would take longer than usual to render a decision. Two and a half months later, after emailing them politely every two weeks or so, I still have not received their "decision ". $10 is a lot to me. I paid for a service, never got it. They act like they don't care. I will never use Patreon again in any way. What a disappointment.
Patreon blocked my Creator account after one week of work without any explanations and stole $165 that I earned from my patrons. Support does not answer my request (**), they do not return my money, they do not return my content, which I also asked for. The conclusion is obvious - PATREON IS A SCAM. If they don't like something about your account, you will be blocked and your money will be stolen. I am going to tell about my experience everywhere I can to make people know. If you care about your content and your money, don't use this awful scam service.
I paid for a membership and when the so-called "creator" did not deliver it, it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a response, I'm talking about months just to get an automatic reply, no help, no refund, no responsibility from Patreon whatsoever. Total scam. STAY AWAY!
Have you ever heard of a company that does not have a customer service team? Well, Patreon doesn't. It doesn't matter what your concern is, they literally have no one to answer the phone. Unacceptable.
Been trying to cancel my payment no luck. Can not contact any one. I would not recommend this to anyone. Their help page just sends you to different pages. I don't think they have any humans there. Giving it one star is over rated.
This company is impossible to contact about Unauthorized charges! We noticed a recurring charge today from Patreon! We didn't agree to anything with any content creator! This was in my Legally blind wife's Credit card! Now we have to cancel the card and attempt to do a charge back! How someone got her card number is beyond me! Patreon not having a way to dispute this shows what kind of company this is! How can someone pay someone when they don't have a account with them?
I did not understand Patreon's payment system. Toward the end of June, I paid $50 for, what I thought, was the month. Well, it was only for a week. I pay another $50 for July and had access to it up till today. Now it says I'm not a member. So for $100 I have had under 3 weeks of Patreon. I also live in a sales tax-free state and am being charged taxes. Sent an email and was told to wait up to 5 days for a response.
One time donation for a good cause. My payment has been processed on Paypal and two days later on my bank account, without any problems. Patreon reports an error/failure processing my transaction. No answers or reply on my questions asked. Without mentioning before hand, Tax was added to my donation. It was offered to Paypal as a monthly recurring payment. Judge for yourself what to think of it. I will not use this service again.
Worst experience ever. I am billed but it says I don’t support any creators. I can’t access any of the extra content from the creator that I am getting billed for.. Sorry Wave Rover I have to cancel my creator card. Wish I could let him know but it won’t let me even message the creator of the videos.. Patreon sucks.. There is no service to rectify the issue. No technical support. No phone service - just a women telling you to go to www.patreon.com/saq. And no one answers from that.
My wife and I noticed a $7 monthly charge on our credit card that we don't recognize from CKO "Patreon" Members. When I call the number 833-972-8766, it tells me to go to Patreon.com, which tells me to sign in to my account. I have no account, I don't even know who they are. I never signed up with them - how is it that they are charging me? I have no way of speaking to anyone to ask why I'm being charged. I had to cancel my credit card in order to get the charges to stop, and I can see from other comments that I am not the only one. If by some chance I signed up to sponsor a podcast or artist without remembering it, and that artist/podcast uses Patreon, then Patreon should be able to tell me so. But I guarantee I have never agreed to sponsor an artist or podcast.
The website provides no warning of pending charges for the monthly process. No live person on the phone (**). Did not respond to my email inquiry in a timely manner. This company needs to improve in many areas. I will have to close my credit card to prevent future charges.
I haven't had an account that long, less than a year, and I'm already having log-in issues. It keeps saying it needs to verify my device, and then no email is sent, and I remain locked out of the account. Don't bother contacting Patreon about anything, because they don't do that. No number to call, no emails answered... Run.
Continued to charge me after I cancelled. I needed to go to my credit card company. Told me to go to the person I was following to dispute charges. Just read the other negative reviews - little to no contact info. Poor explanation of their service. Patreon needs to overhaul their company.
Service paid for in advance. Despite the content creator confirming by email his inability to deliver, Patreon refused to process a refund and falsely informed PayPal that service was delivered. Avoid.
Got fraudulently charged by Patreon. Tried to contact Jack Conte CEO. Phone number disconnected. Called his wife. Real piece of work. Wouldn't give me any contact info. The guy obviously does not care. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY!
Here is how ridiculous their policy is. They charge, in advance, at the beginning of the month. So, how is that unfair? Because they don't tell you this up front and so, if you sign up for sponsorship on the 31st day of the month, you get charged for the next month on the very next day! Thus, if you sign up on the last day of the month, you get 1/31 as much value as someone signing up on the first of the month. If you want to complain, they require you contact the contract creator directly. I didn't do business with the Creator, my relationship is with Patreon. So how can they legally tell me I have to ask for a refund from a third party? Despite the obvious unfairness, Patreon refuses to refund or make the system fair with either prorated pricing or staggered anniversary dates.
Patreon may be a good idea and many of us wish to provide support for authors of good video content. However, Patreon is the most MICKEY MOUSE company I have dealt with in over 20 years on the internet. They hide info regarding a subscriber to increase or decrease a pledge to an account. No reasonable tech support. Usually you get some canned message after 2 or 3 days if you are lucky. If ever there was a company needing replacement with a more robust and forwarding thinking company it is Patreon. PLEASE, Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, someone step up and provide a service which will put Patreon out of its pathetic misery. Bottom line is PATREON SUCKS the BIG ONE!!!
I was thrilled when I found Patreon! What a great concept, thought I. Except it is very hard to get a page set up. To post my art, for example, I could never find the icon to post, unless I did a search. They have a thing called "featured tags" to help on your cover page (for creators). For the life of me, I could not figure out how to make featured tags. I did a search for help on this, but the help didn't match up with what I was seeing on MY page. I was supporting ONE creator, but I decided I'd had enough of Patreon at this point. I had to search and search, but found no clue how to stop supporting someone. I finally got an answer to an email from I'd sent them weeks ago. The email walked me through how to edit or cancel support for a creator. I canceled my support and then deactivated my account.
I enjoy using Patreon and will continue to do so. The only concern I have is their privacy policy. They use advertising tracking and cookies. This will not deter me from using their services, though it does make me a bit uncomfortable.
