About RVshare

RVshare is an RV rental marketplace with inventory that ranges from simple pop-ups to luxury campers. You can use the RV sharing app to find motorhomes that accommodate up to 10 people. Towable, drivable and pet-friendly accommodations are available.

What is RVshare?

RVshare is a market of peer-to-peer recreational vehicle rentals. The site has a range of options to select from, whether you want to drive the RV like a van or tow it behind you.

  • Class A motorhomes: Class A motorhomes are the largest and most expensive recreational vehicles. These bus-shaped recreational vehicles can be up to 45 feet long and accommodate several people. Class A RVs typically include a secondary sleeping space and come with plenty of amenities.
  • Class C motorhomes: Similar to Class A motorhomes but smaller, easier to drive and less expensive. Class C motorhomes offer a compromise between Class A and B.
  • Camper vans: Also called Class B motorhomes, camper vans look like an oversized van. Most class B motorhomes can accommodate two people.
  • Travel Trailers: Travel trailers come in a range of sizes and allow you to use a car to visit locations near your RV site. You can tow a travel trailer with a truck or SUV.
  • Fifth wheels: Fifth wheels resemble a mobile home. They have an overbed hitch, full kitchen and bedroom. You can tow a fifth wheel with a full-sized pickup truck.

How does RVshare work?

RVshare uses Instant Book to connect owners and renters.

  • For RV renters: If you want to rent an RV, start by browsing through your options. You can filter searches by price, features, reviews and more. Once you find an RV you like, you can reserve it instantly through Instant Book.
  • For RV owners: If you already own an RV and want to rent it, you can submit a listing with photos of the interior and exterior and a written description. You can also control how much lead time you have between requests and rental dates and set minimum or maximum trip lengths.

RVshare fees

RVshare fees for renters vary, but here is a list of fees you may be charged:

  • Administrative fee: The renter must pay a 15% administrative fee.
  • Service fee: RVshare charges a service fee based on a percentage of the rental cost. This fee is included in the renter’s first payment and covers the cost of booking plus roadside assistance. The rate varies by booking.
  • Post-trip fees: Post-trip fees are at the RV owner’s discretion. Amounts vary, but post-trip fees are generally intended to cover cleaning, dumping and refueling. Additional fees apply if the RV is late, you brought a pet or abandoned the vehicle. According to RVshare, post-trip charges vary depending on rental circumstances. The owner must list fees on the return form.
  • Optional fees: Some RVs have optional fees for if you want amenities such as satellite TV or a kitchen supply package, for example.

Complete B.S.!!! We booked on Oct. 25 for a Feb. 2026 trip. This was going to be our first RV experience, and was very much looking forward to. 4 weeks before our trip, we got a message from the RV owner that the camper was damaged and will be out of commission for our dates. Super bummed, but I get it, this is not where I have the issue. RV share provided refunds.....but here is the issue.....they WILL NOT REFUND the screening fee. I completely understand if WE cancelled the reservation we wouldn't get it back. But 'WE' didn't cancel the reservation. If nothing else, the OWNER should absorb the charge. We tried to reason with RV share, but they won't budge. So now I need to find a hotel, on top of the charge from RV share. For $26, they lost a customer for life. So stupid.

The worst! We rented an RV from here for Thanksgiving camping in the mountains and none of the electrical worked, and our kids and us nearly froze in the middle of the night. We had to check into a hotel. We also noticed an Ant problem, none of the TVs worked and none of the receptacles worked.

I'm a 72-year-old great-grandmother. I took delivery and immediately saw that I was unable to get in and out of the raised bed. I returned immediately; however, they charged me full price...$2800. RVShare doesn't care about seniors!

They showed no flexibility and charged me without prior notice. From a $500 rental they took $250, citing a cancellation I made a year earlier when my RV had mechanical issues. I explained the situation but they refused to reconsider. Their high fees and unwillingness to work with customers make me unable to recommend them.

Worst rental experience of my life and I have rented 30 plus times. They bait and switch you. They get all your data, then start telling you there are more expenses and fees, more documents to fill out, more pictures to send. We spent almost 30 hours trying to get it finalized. They already had our credit card and personal data. The cancellation fees are almost the entire cost, so I kept trying to give them what they wanted. You can't use a computer or Android phone to send them data.

After almost 10 phone calls, including 2 to a supervisor and about 20 emails and texts. They then wanted more photos saying our faces weren't clear. These are full facials and ID's sent to Asia, but they refuse to say where. Kept doing it, but it wasn't worth it. Granted, the couple who owned the RV were great, the RV was not clean and the stove and awning didn't work. Would never recommend anyone use RVshare. And we are in the US. Their HQ is an office in a strip mall in Akton OH. Not a real US company and who know what they do with your data. I got a new credit card after the trip.

      Reviewed Sept. 25, 2025

Updated on 09/26/2025: I contacted RVshare 3 times about possible fraud, damage or theft of my RV about a renter that reserved my 4 year old 5th Wheel days prior to the rental. They assured me that the renter was properly vetted and to not worry that if any damage or theft occurred while rented it would be covered. My RV was returned completely ruined after it was taken to the Burning Man without my consent or knowledge. What they don't tell you is if the renter does not pay for the overages or the deductible then you (the owner are responsible to pay for it and the overages you just won't get if the renter doesn't want to pay for it.)

My 5th wheel will most likely be considered totaled once I can make it safe to be towed to the dealership and they offered me $407 to cover parts and labor to fix it after I had sent then 84 photos of all of the damages along with a detailed list. What they don't tell you is, they will rent to people that are not even US citizens, how can you vet people that are not US citizens? The renter's (from Russia) not only side swiped a telephone pole causing major damages to the exterior, many many damages throughout the interior but also towed my RV from Nevada to Oregon without raising the rear hydraulic leveling jacks. I plan to take legal action if they continue to not cover any part of the repairs that are now needed to my once beautiful new RV. It's been almost a month and I just got their offer for repairs last night by email.

Original review: RVshare is an absolute scam in every way. I rented my 4-year-old 5th wheel through them and it came back absolutely destroyed inside and out. The renter hit a telephone pole that severely damaged about 15' along the side and the door, not to mention numerous damages done on the inside, and RVshare offered me $407 to cover the damages. That doesn't even cover the cost to replace the door, not to mention any of the structural damages, and replacing the awning. I reported to RVshare prior to rental 3 times that I was concerned about the renter being a fraud and worried about damages, each time they assured me that it is fully insured, to not worry about anything. And now I have a new RV that I can't even tow out of my driveway.

Very disappointed - found a rental trailer to use for guests for a week - rental about $700 - BUT THEY ADDED ON insurance I don't need to $674. Travel trailer that the host is delivering, parking in my driveway and leaving it for a week? Outrageous - DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

I had a highly disappointing experience and feel I was clearly scammed by this service. The issue was simply a ripped awning fabric on the trailer I was rented on August 25th to September 01—there was no mechanical damage whatsoever (attached a photo). The fabric itself is relatively inexpensive, retailing for around $100 and easily available on Amazon. Called some repair stores while on my way to return the trailer, and professional repair estimate I received elsewhere was less than $300 in total. Initially, they charged me $603.75 for the repair, which was overpriced but seemed was okay at the time. However, they later increased the price to $929.13 without any explanation and confirmation.

It seemed as though they realized my insurance deductible is $1,000, which makes the final charge absurd; if I totaled the trailer, I’d be paying roughly the same amount! When I asked for a detailed breakdown of the costs and how they reached at that price, they refused to provide a copy of the receipt or any detailed invoice. They claimed they perform damage estimates internally but refused to share any documentation or explanation. Overall, this feels like a scam. I am very dissatisfied with the lack of transparency and the significant price hike for what was a straightforward fabric repair. I expected honest pricing and clear communication, but instead, I feel taken advantage of.

Horrible experience — RVshare insurance is a scam. We rented an RV for Burning Man, paid $500 for cleaning and $1,200 for RVshare insurance, and returned it clean. The next day the owners accused us of ridiculous petty “damages” a missing pan we never used, a tiny chip and cushion scuff, even blaming an air freshener leaking that they had installed. We had photos and video proof, and the only issue we acknowledged upon return was a small scrape from tape used to keep the fridge shut (since it wasn’t working on pickup).

The real problem came from RVshare. A week later they hit us with $2,500 in charges without explanations for what were the damages. When we finally got through to the adjuster (who never contacted us first), we discovered the insurance is a total trap: the deductible is $1,000 for every rental, but for Burning Man it secretly doubles (which is not mentioned anywhere). We were charged in total a shocking $4,500 on top of 3900$ reservation. In practice, this means RVshare avoids paying anything and renters are expected to pay the entire bill ignoring the insurance completely. So between dishonest owners and RVshare’s hidden policies, we paid thousands on top of cleaning and insurance that gave us zero protection. Bottom line: RVshare enables shady owners, hides critical insurance details, and profits by leaving renters exposed. Don’t rent through them. It’s not worth the risk.

Unsafe RV, Abandoned by RVshare, No Real Support in Emergency. We rented an RV through RVshare for a family trip, and it quickly turned into a nightmare. Within the first hour, we reported severe shaking and tire balance issues to the owner with video documentation. We even stopped at an RV center, where we were told the tires were cupped. Despite our concerns, we pushed forward carefully.

On July 1st, one of the rear outer tires blew out on a rural stretch of Highway 70 in Ohio — at night — with six of us in the vehicle, including children. Roadside assistance never showed, despite being “assigned,” and we were forced to call local police several times for help. Eventually, we paid a private tow truck company out-of-pocket just to get safely to a hotel.

We were forced to abandon the RV and spend thousands of dollars to fly home, book two rental cars, and pay for lodging. We submitted all receipts and followed every instruction from RVshare and their insurance. Still, we were only partially refunded, and RVshare refused to cover the actual emergency expenses despite clear evidence.

Even worse, they charged us an additional $500 for an insurance deductible — but refused to apply that toward our out-of-pocket expenses or refund it. Their dispute resolution process was unprofessional, dismissive, and lacked empathy. We were left stranded, stressed, and financially burdened. We hope no other family has to go through this. RVshare showed zero accountability for the safety and condition of the vehicle and offered no real-time help during a dangerous situation. Would not recommend.
