About CoverageX

CoverageX is a warranty provider that sells both home and auto warranties. It offers three auto warranty plans: Premium, Signature and Essential. All auto coverage comes with rental vehicle coverage and 24/7 roadside assistance. In the event of a covered claim, CoverageX pays the mechanic directly to avoid lengthy reimbursement periods.

CoverageX plans

CoverageX sells three vehicle warranty plans that cover a range of items:

  • Premium: This is CoverageX’s most comprehensive plan, covering almost as much as a traditional factory warranty.
  • Signature: This plan covers most of the major and minor systems in a car, minus the suspension and steering. It’s a good value for those who want a decent amount of coverage.
  • Essential: For those who have a smaller budget, the Essential plan covers the key parts (and sometimes the most expensive parts) of a vehicle for the lowest price.

The 24/7 roadside assistance covers free towing, lockout assistance and fuel services. Rental car coverage pays up to $100 per day for a traditional rental or $60 per day in rideshare fees (up to $300 per claim in both cases). The fact that this coverage comes standard with all three plans is notable.

How much does CoverageX cost?

CoverageX costs depend on a few factors, including the make and model of your vehicle, its age and how many miles are on it. The average cost for an extended warranty plan is about $1,000 per year, plus a deductible per service. CoverageX has a $100 deductible, which is pretty standard in the industry.

Discounts

CoverageX may offer some discounts, like for first responders or teachers, but it doesn’t specify any as of publishing. When you get a free, no-obligation quote, ask about the potential discounts you may be eligible for.

CoverageX claims

CoverageX has a waiting period of either 30 days or 1,000 miles from the starting odometer reading (whichever comes first) before coverage begins. After coverage starts, you can file a claim at any time.

The process for filing a claim starts with finding an ASE-certified mechanic. The mechanic will reach out to CoverageX directly to start the process and handle payment, meaning customers don’t need to pay anything out of pocket (besides the $100 deductible).

CoverageX exclusions

Each of CoverageX’s three auto plans has its own list of exclusions. For example, the following are excluded from the Signature plan:

  • Anything the manufacturer should be responsible for, like recalls or those under warranty
  • Damage caused by lack of regular maintenance
  • Damage caused by “acts of God,” theft, collision, etc.
  • Damage caused by misuse or abuse, negligence, modification, tampering, etc.
  • Towing or pulling damages unless the manufacturer properly equips the vehicle
  • Preexisting conditions

Your warranty won’t cover things like storage costs, diagnostic fees, shop fees, lodging, food, sales tax and other additional fees. The company also says it won’t cover any claims submitted after 60 days of noticing the issue.

What is CoverageX’s cancellation policy?

You can cancel your policy at any point within 30 days for a full refund, according to the contract. If you cancel after 30 days, you’ll receive a prorated refund minus the cancellation fee of $75.

Is CoverageX legit?

Yes, though CoverageX is a pretty new company, having just launched its social media sites and Better Business Bureau profile. Because of this, there are essentially no reviews on the company, its coverage or its claims process as of publishing.

    Recommended 100%. At first I was like SCAM, but was I wrong. The guys that helped me was very knowledgeable and didn't mind all the questions I had, and I had a lot!     Very pleased with customer service. Was skeptical at first. When I purchased a policy the sales person said I would receive the policy by E-mail and a hard copy by USPS. That never happened and I hadn't heard from them again. So I gave them a 2 Star Rating. Then a person named Kevin contacted me to see what happened. After I told him, he immediately checked on it. Turned out to be a glitch of some kind. He immediately corrected the problem. And what's more, he refunded my first payment as a courtesy. I didn't expect that. Kudos to Kevin.

      I don’t usually leave reviews, but the service I received from CoverageX deserves recognition. My engine suddenly failed while I was on the side of the highway. I called CoverageX and within 25 minutes, a tow truck was on the way. Even more impressive, the representative stayed on the phone with me the entire time to make sure I was safe and calm until the truck arrived. Once my car was towed to the repair center, I thought I’d be stuck figuring out next steps—but not with CoverageX. They had a rental car waiting for me at the local Enterprise, and to top it off, they even sent an Uber to pick me up and take me there. I’ve had policies with other companies before, and none of them came close to this level of service. CoverageX truly went above and beyond, and because of that, I’ll be a CoverageX customer for life. Highly recommend them to anyone who values real support when it matters most.

      I have had a bad experience with an extended warranty several years ago and have been bad-mouthing the industry ever since. Then, a couple of months ago, I accidentally answered a sales call from CoverageX. I decided to take another chance because the price was soo reasonable, it just made sense considering we own 2 vehicles over 10 years old. I am glad I did. Two months later, the water pump in my wife's Lexus started screeching. The Lexus dealer called CoverageX who immediately gave authorization. They said they were very cooperative. After my deductible, they saved me $700 just 3 months into the contract. I'm impressed and they have absolutely changed my attitude toward the industry.

      I recently purchase an auto warranty with Coverage X. They had the best prices out of the other two top companies. I had felt on hard times due to a job loss and Coverage X was there to understand my situation. I had to cancel my policy because, I need to support my family first. Coverage X understood what I was going thru and didn't pressure me and understood what I needed to do. The i ly question I was asked if I would come back and I said 100%. Coverage X has a great customer service and relation department.

      I have been trying to get in contact with these people about cancelling my contract and they are ignoring me. I just wanted to cancel for time being because my budget can’t handle it right now. (No not for holidays) in general. I’m sure they’ll reach out now.

      Rude salesman from this company. Don't recommend them to use them. Very pushy on getting you signed up and after trying to get off the phone they get upset and try saying you don't have the money and criticize you for not buying right there and then and push you to buy now and not even have time to think about. Very unprofessional. Not good salesman within this company.

      Stay away from Coverage X extended warranties. They are not customer friendly and I was very dissatisfied with the customer service. They are like insurance companies in the sense that they will go out of their way to keep from paying a claim. Beware.
