Jewel of Sacramento writes (7/29/02):
I called a medical billing work at home classified ad to get information on exactly what it took to start this business, I was told all the software they sold was the best in the business and they even offer online assistance every step of the way. George, the salesman said all I needed was to cpmplete 2 weeks of training on their online course and they had all the marketing supplies and names of doctors I needed to get started right away.

He told me he would drop the price from $410.00 to $320.00 but I had to purchase it in the next 2 days. So I gathered up all the money I could and charged my credit card the rest. It took me longer than 2 days to get the money, but they were so nice to keep calling and reminding me about the wonderful work at home oporunity I'd be missing, and all the time I'd get to spend with my 4 children, if I got started right away. I kept asking if they were telling me everything I should know before I could get started, I was told just take the course to get certified andthey will supply everything. So I bought it.

I was very nervous, I never bought anything over the phone like this before, I am a low-income mother of four, married but just my income. The telemarketer played on my deep desire to be a stay-at-home mother, he kept saying how I can make the same amount of money I'm making at my job, because doctors will pay about $3 to $4 a claim. He make it sound so simple, I even convinced my husband on it.

I charged the last bit I had on our credit card and sent the rest from a bill I didn't pay. I really was excited about the opportunity to work at home and take care of my kids. Well it's been almost a year and I haven't been able to go forward because when I got the program it said that they recommend before trying to start your own billing business, I would need to take a course at college and/or get a job first doing medical billing. I was so disappointed and my credit card was maxed out. I found your website today and I just knew I had been had. What can a person like me do?

I'll never trust anyone again without doing a lot of research.
