Oriental Manor

1818 86th St., Brooklyn, NY

"Maria" of Brooklyn writes:
My sister had cancelled her wedding a year ago. When she went into the Manor and spoke to Sebastian, he explained that a check for a refund will be in the mail and received in 5 business days.

Well it's been a year from June 1998. I made a few calls myself on my sister's behalf and I spoke to Sebastian over the phone and he first tells me that there was a wedding booked on the date my sister had picked which was June 19, 1999. Then he tells me to relax myself and I needed to come in and speak to Joe the Manager. I asked him to transfer my call to Joe and Sebastian tells me that he's busy with clients and to come in.

My sister called on Wednesday June 16, 1999 to see if Joe was there and Sebastian tells her to come in on Saturday and that she is not going to receive a refund.

The refund entitled to family for this is approximately $3,000. I called today on June 17, 1999 and spoke to John and I was explaining this situation to him. He tells me he knows about it and that Joe will not speak to me but he will speak to my sister. Then asks me where is my sister. I am upset to the point I don't it matters who is making the phone call because they gave my sister the runaround for a whole year and never received a refund from them. They renegged on the contract.

Please do not give my name as to who filed the complaint

Really, Maria (not her real name), do you think that Sebastian, Joe and the boys won't know who you are? If Maria really wants to settle this, she needs to either hire a lawyer or -- probably better -- sue Sebastian and the boys in Small Claims Court. The court will then decide whether one of the parties abrogated the agreement.
