Fern of Passaic NJ writes (7/13/01): My daughter was part of a bridal party and had her gown made at this place. The workmanship and quality were so bad, the gown was horrible. In addition, we were never told what the exact price for the gown would be. On the first visit, she gave the woman $100 cash. She asked for a receipt and was told she didn't need one. One the second fitting, my daughter asked if she had to give any more money and she was told yes. She handed over another $100 and the woman was very busy with other brides and put the money in her fannypack. On the last fitting, my daughter was told she owed $150. She asked about paying with a credit card and the owner supposedly tried to use a credit card and it didn't go through. So my daughter had to leave and go to an ATM and get cash. My daughter successfully used the same credit card on the way to the shop to get gas and after to pay for her parking so the card did work. On the day of the wedding, the gown looked awful and was so tight my daughter could hardly breathe. The other bridesmaid gowns were even worse. One the lining was not complete so it was all bunched up. One gown was made too short so they added a piece so it looked like the hem was falling down. Also that gown was too loose in the waist. After the wedding, I took the gown back to complain. The owner told me it was revolting that I was complaining and that my daughter had only paid the $250 the gown had cost. I showed her the poor workmanship and the seams were bursting and that my daughter had paid more than $250. She insisted she had only paid $250. Since my daughter was not with me, I left. When I spoke to my daughter she told me about the $100 she put in her fannypack and I called the owner back. I thought maybe the events of that day would jar her memory. She called me "****ing fantisizing". She said it twice. She insinuated that my daughter was lying. Well, to start with, we overpaid with $100. The gown is not worth $250. My daughter was unhappy and miserable at her best friend's wedding because of the way she looked and because she gown was so tight and uncomfortable. |
