My wife and I met with Rich (Area Manager for Always Perfect Studios) at David's Bridal in Lake Grove, NY on 4/29/09. We entered into a contract for our wedding to be held on 1/17/10, left a deposit of $686.87 and signed an agreement that night. My wife wrote two additional checks to Always Perfect, therefore paying the balance in full for a total of $2,060.61 (Check #---- for $686.87 on 8/24/09 and a certified check #-------- for $686.87 on 12/18/09).
We called 610- on 12/18/09 to discuss details involving our wedding day and no one answered, so we left a message requesting a return call. Note that the alternative number to reach their office was and is no longer in service (866-). We had also tried to access their website, which was and still is "under development". After not having heard back in over two weeks, we called again on 1/4/10 and left another message, receiving no response. We then called Rich, who informed us he is no longer employed by Always Perfect. Then we proceeded to call David's Bridal, whom then informed us that Always Perfect had recently been terminated as one of their reputable photographers and no longer conducts business in any of their stores.
As a last attempt to reach Always Perfect, we faxed a letter requesting to be contacted. In response to our fax, we received a call from Bob. At that time, Mr. Bob had acknowledged receiving all necessary paperwork which was included in the fax, but could not provide us with any details regarding who would shoot our wedding or when we could schedule to meet with him/her. On 1/5/10, we received a phone call from Eileen from MJS Studios, who stated that her company would now be providing a photographer for our wedding.
She explained to us that David's Bridal had contacted her and requested that MJS Studios would provide the services for our wedding. David's Bridal had been unsuccessful in reaching Always Perfect and had lost confidence in their ability to fulfill our contract. Eileen had also tried to contact Always Perfect, but to no avail, and also expressed her lack of confidence with them.
On 1/6/10, we kindly declined MJS Studios offer to shoot our wedding. Always Perfect Studios never once answered our phone calls, only once responded to a fax. Their website is no longer in existence, and alternative phone number is not in service. The salesperson (Rich) who set up our contract is no longer employed by Always Perfect. David's Bridal had discontinued their business agreement with Always Perfect. A laundry list of grievances against Always Perfect Studios can be found on numerous other websites. These are complaints from people in similar situations as us.
On 1/6/10 we faxed a letter to Bob expressing our dissatisfaction and aggravation with the service provided. We requested our contract be terminated immediately and a full refund of the moneys paid, totaling $2,060.61. The same letter was sent through certified mail and a domestic return receipt was received by us confirming the letter had been received by Bob on 1/9/10. On 1/16/10, we received a letter from Samuel, Director of Photography, stating that "as per the terms of the agreement all deposits are non refundable and are retained as liquidated damages to the contract. "
In closing, my wife and I feel that Always Perfect Studios owe us a full refund due to their gross negligence and dishonesty. Please note we have all original documents and receipts supporting our case. Because David's Bridal endorsed, promoted, recommended, and partnered with Always Perfect Studios, we feel that they, too, should be liable. Always Perfect Studios rendered no service, but took $2,060.61 of our money.
