Santee is the only power source in my area. My uncle co-signed for my lights due to not having paid $500 deposit. My job was cut so I wasn't getting full-time, and after two and a half years of using Santee, they removed my uncle from my contract and now has added $500 to my bill. I have no dryer, no stove, and I only use AC at night. I have called Santee over ten times and left message but no one will return my call.

About two months ago, I had made trip to Santee's Kingstree office and they only divided $500 in four payments. my bill is still due for over $819.00.

Santee is a rip off. They know I have no choice but pay since there's no other place to get power. I feel that the law should check them out for scamming little man. Santee needs to wake up and realize that people are hurting in this bad times. God deal with the greedy!

I have no choice but to pay and it takes most of my money just to have lights. What can we do when no one else is in the area to choose from, like phone company, there's only one to service in our area; rip off by all means.

I received my electric bill in the mail and it was in the amount of $627.00. There is no way that I used that amount. I used my fireplace more to cut down on the cost of the bill. Last month, it was $472.00 and it went up almost $200 for the next month. I have never seen anyone come out to read the meter, but they read it in their office. You could be adding to my bill what you want and I would not know it. I am very upset about this and I cannot keep paying a high bill like this every month. I am unemployed and it is just too much for me to handle.

My husband and I lived in a mobile home for a few years. We got used to paying three, four, even five hundred dollars worth of electricity bills from SEC. In the summer, we would suffer the heat. In the winter, we would nearly freeze, all in an attempt to lower our electric bill, but nothing worked. We knew, just like everyone else knows, that SEC is a corrupt, and greedy company. We just didn't know how dishonest they really are.

Last year, we sold our mobile home and bought a house. We didn't disconnect the power for a few days after the trailer was moved. When we received our last bill, we realized that they had charged us ninety dollars for about four days in the beginning of October. There was nothing there. Now you tell me how complete nothingness used $90 worth of energy? Their rates/bills are bogus. They are liars and cheats. Thank goodness we have Progress Energy in our new home. We run a big two-story house for about $100 a month.

I called about power bill of $159. We only use this house on weekends but not all weekends. Everything is turned off except refrigerator and air which we keep on 83 degrees. I called Santee Electric and asked what I could do about this high bill. I spoke with Donna who told me that the only thing they could do was to take the meter down for a charge of $20.00 and check it to see if there were any problems. If there were problems, there would be no adjustments to our power bill, it would just be a loss to me. This is so unfair and a rip off by Santee Electic Cooperative. Also, to check this meter, I would have to go to their office and sign a form authorizing them to remove the meter to be checked. I live in Florence and their office is in Kingstree. Why can't they just check the meter and see if there is a problem? Economic damage is money! Physical damage is they are allowed to do this.

Had no appliances in the house and was not using any appliances. All have been in storage because I will be selling house soon. No refridge, no washer and dryer, and was not using the stove at all. Just wanted to have some one look into this matter to see if it is legal to charge 908.50 for one month and it's only one person in the house. House is properly insulated. I need my utility bill decreased. It makes no sense.

Everyone is complaining about their out-of-control electric bills and the reason for them is the PCA charges..."Power Cost Adjustment". At one time Santee used to show the PCA charges on your bill, now since everyone is complaining they don't even show that anymore, they just leave you to assume that you are using that much power. People should be able to see their bill broken down by; electric usage, taxes and PCA charges. It is criminal that they are not doing that. At one time I was paying around 100% above my usage and I am now paying 200% above my "actual" power use. So if my power use is $100 my bill will be $300.

I realize the cost of fuel has increased but my friends that live in town are not being hit this hard with PCA charges. I have complained and complained only to be told that since Santee has to buy power from elsewhere there is nothing that they can do about it and since I live in a rural area that is the reason that "co-ops" were formed because the local power companies won't supply power to us. I should not have to be punished by paying higher power bills just because I opt to live in the country.

I have been paying a very high light bill every month since December and it is just getting to be to much now.My light bill has jumped from being around 260 a month to 485 or more a month. I can not continue to keep paying this high bill every month like that. They only give you two extentions to pay and thayt is all. What if you are on a fix income and your bill is over 500 a month that will take all you have. Something has got to be done about this. When you call to talk to someone they tell you that you are charged by what you use the previous year. I think I need to be charged for what I use now and not back then because it may be a lot less. Is there any help out there for this sudden increase.

My bill has been $217.00 even for the last 6 mts now all of a sudden it has gone up to 297.00. When I call Santee they tell me that there is nothing that I can do about it because they are the only one that provides service in my area. Per my bill I used less power this mth than last but I am charged more. They will not give me a anwsner as to why.

I talked to the metter reader that read my metter today and he told me that they did not go by metter readings on the last bill and that they estimaited it. How can they charge me for power that I did not use?

Every month our light bill has been constantly changing and the price is outrageous. We have had people come and check the heating and cooling units and water pump and tanks and everything that may have contributed to a high electric bill has been repaired, but the bill does not seem to be decreasing. So what we started doing is using kerosene heaters instead of electric for a month to see if there was a difference. Believe it or not the bill was higher that it was when using electric to heat.

Every month we do nothing different in our home but the bill is different all the time. There has been times that we've had our lights cut off because of the price. So we started doing some investigation because every time we call to get answers or explanation on why the bill is so high there are really no answers. It appears to me that certain neighborhoods are their own transformers and in some neighborhoods there are 3 to 4 people using one transformer. I really think that we are being billed based on the size of our home and not the amount of watts that are actually being used.

We really need some help here because times are hard and the economy is in bad shape and electricity is a necessity but I really think something is going wrong at Santee Electric when calculating the bill. With a light bill that ranges from 600-800 a month is outrageous and a family cannot afford that. whenever we ask for help from the company, they say they can only hold it for this amount of time and it we pay over half of the bill they still cut our lights off. It is not like we can go to another electric company in the area. They are the only ones and they don't really care.

Our lights have been disconnected every month until we come up with the money to pay it. My mother, Margret is a diabetic and has high blood pressure along with her grandchildren that she are keeping and have to go through something like this every month.

im complaining about this company, my mom use gas and wood for heat and only use electricity for light, my mom bill is usually around the amont of 200.00 a mth, my mom recieved a light bill for 640.00 and they told her its because of the holiday's, now unless she is running lights for the whole county thier is no way for a bill to jump over 400.00 for a bill, i have several people in the county complaining about thier light bill, is thier somthing that can be done about this?

my mom ssi check is only 636.00 a mth, if she pays a 640.00 light bill, not including the gas bill she has to pay that she use to cook and heat with, how will she eat, or get any other essentials?
