Santee Electric Cooperative

Donna of Nesmith, SC July 4, 2009

Everyone is complaining about their out-of-control electric bills and the reason for them is the PCA charges..."Power Cost Adjustment". At one time Santee used to show the PCA charges on your bill, now since everyone is complaining they don't even show that anymore, they just leave you to assume that you are using that much power. People should be able to see their bill broken down by; electric usage, taxes and PCA charges. It is criminal that they are not doing that. At one time I was paying around 100% above my usage and I am now paying 200% above my "actual" power use. So if my power use is 100 my bill will be 300.

I realize the cost of fuel has increased but my friends that live in town are not being hit this hard with PCA charges. I have complained and complained only to be told that since Santee has to buy power from elsewhere there is nothing that they can do about it and since I live in a rural area that is the reason that "co-ops" were formed because the local power companies won't supply power to us. I should not have to be punished by paying higher power bills just because I opt to live in the country.

Willie of Lane, SC April 24, 2009

Our electric bill has gotten out of control. We know that we don't use that much electricity.

John of Lane, SC April 24, 2009

Since the end of last year our electric bill has gotten extremely high. The bills can't be right because there's no one home during the day.

Jesse of Greeleyville, SC April 24, 2009

Our electric bill has gotten out of hand. It is too high. I think that there is some kind of problem with the meters or something. I know we don't use that much electricity.

Michael of Greeleyville, SC April 24, 2009

Ever since January we have been getting these extremely high electric bill. We know that we don't use that much electricity, as a matter of fact we have been using less, and the bill is still high.

Richard of Greeleyville, SC April 24, 2009

Our electric bill is so high that we can hardly pay it. We don't use that electricity, so something has got to be wrong with the billing.

Margaret of Greeleyville, SC April 24, 2009

My electric bill has doubled in the past few months. I don't know how I am going to continue to pay it.

Barbara of Greeleyville, SC April 24, 2009

Our electric has drastically increased in the last few months, and we can't afford to pay it.

Claude of Salters, SC April 24, 2009

In the past few months my electric bill has gotten too high for me to afford. I can't suddenly come up with that kind of money. I still make the same amount that I did before.

Rickco of Greeleyville, SC April 24, 2009

We have been getting these outrageously high electric bills lately. I know that we don't use that much electricity.
