Michael of St. Louis writes (1/9/01):
Went to station to see off my new wife's daughter (22 yrs old). Was told that because her ticket had been purchased under "buddy" plan and we did not have anyone to travel back with her, a new ticket would have to be purchased. Requested to speak to manager. After several minutes, it became obvious we were being ignored.

Requested in a louder tone that a manager be called. A young unkempt male with pierced eyebrow walked up and asked "What the f--- is your problem?" I in turn asked who he was, and he replied that "I aint f---ing anybody ok, what the hell do you care?"

He then proceeded to tell me to "get your f---ing a-- out of my f---ing bus station". At this point I pulled out my cell phone, dialed 911 and requested that police be dispatched as I was being physically threatened (he said he would "kick your f---ing a--"). I informed all and sundry that the police were en route. This did not please the man - he decided to grab me and then physically threw me to the floor and kicked me several times.

When my my wife pleaded with him to stop, she was told to "shut up you f---ing b----". Several witnesses are available to confirm this account of events, and I have their phone numbers and addresses.

I had a number of bruises from being kicked, my wife and I were both humiliated and terrified by the unexpected and unprovoked violence. My wife's daughter was terrified, felt that she was to blame and was in tears for quite some time. Several station employees attempted to cover for the "security guard" (he was identified as such after the police arrived) by stating that it was "the white guy's fault" although none were able to say how or why.
