The problem occurred on a road trip from Columbus Ohio to Minneapolis. The trip start was 10-27-02 at 11:30 pm and to arrive, after stops in Indianapolis, and Chicago for bus transfers, in Minneapolis, Mn at 4:45 pm, on 10/28/02. The bus number invloved was #2258. While the bus rides themselves were on time, and the drivers were relatively courteous, the supposed very strict rule of not smoking on the bus premises, was severely violated 4-5 times, by a passenger who snuck into the bathroom during the ride from Chicago, to Wisconsin, and on into Mpls. I asked the driver to ask the passenger to stop the smoking behavior, as I have a severe asthma problem; this coupled with the heat on the bus made it so I had to go to the emergency room in Mpls. later on the evening of the 28th of October. I knew the second this passenger lit up her cigarette, because my lung bronchioles would immediately close up; my inhalers did not help much, and it was not until I was put on steroids and antibiotics that I began to feel better (on 10-31-02). I paid $121.00 for this trip, with the clearest of understanding my trip would be comfortable, smoke free, thus, a healthy ride home. My emergency bill will probably be about 400.00-$500.00, considering the high cost of healthcare today, why? Because of the driver's refusal to enforce the regulation and order, NOT to allow smoking on the bus. I'm upset and would like my $121.00 back, as the promised service of Greyhound, was not fulfilled, and I suffered physically for their lack of concern of their customers Report Your Experience
