Muzammil of Fairborn, OH, writes:
I asked for the cancellation of ticket on 7/7/99, because my plan was changed. The company said that I'll be charged $120 penalty for cancellation and remaining $1200 will be paid back to me. It's now 5 months since and I've made several attempts to them to send me my money. They always promise that they will but never made good on it. I then send them written request via certified mail, but still no answer. I am a International student doing my Masters here. I don't have financial support and I'm working hard to pay for tuition and expenses etc. $1200 makes a big difference for a student. All my credit cards are up to limit. I'm not being able to pay my car loan installments. I'm taking loans from others to pay my tuition. This act by the company has hurt me financially and has caused frustration and emotional distress. This is why it's important to use credit cards to buy airline tickets. If you don't make the trip, you can contest the charge. Muzammil does not have many good options. He can sue the company in Small Claims Court. But many travel agencies are in trouble thse days and it's possible the company is short of cash and unable to pay. Report Your Experience
