The Diplomat

Wildwood, NJ

Adolfo of Monroe, NJ, writes (5/8/01):
On 5/8/01 I called The Diplomat to make room reservations for the weekend of 6/1 because my friend told me that this was a nice place. I spoke with a lady and we went over the rates and she said that I was able to send a check for the full amount of the rate for my party and that the room WAS available. So being that it was a go, we were anxious to go there for that weekend.

I called again on 5/9/01 to confirm and spoke with a gentleman who said he was the Manager. I told him of what the lady and I spoke about on the prior day and he accused me of being a liar. He said that there was no way she said that to me and that there was no open availability. He claimed that the lady I spoke to had "just walked in" and that she never said that as well.

The party consists of five adults of 20 and 21 years of age. I understand the concern for out-of-control young adults but that is not the case here. We were just looking for a nice place to stay. Granted I'm only 21 and my party as well, we are still human beings and customers. I did NOT appreciate this gentleman accusing me of lying.

Then he preceeds to tell me that the motel is just for family and couples. Not anywhere on the brochure im my hand right now says just for families and couples, this is a highly prejudicial statement made by this gentleman towards me. If this is the case then they MUST change their brochure for this is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. I do not appreciate the way I was treated on this day and I hope to find a soultion to this problem.
