Avis - Corporate Points |
|||||||
|
We rented vehicles from Avis for a period of almost half a year, and were enrolled to receive Corporate points for free rentals. We started receiving coupons and discovered that our "earned" points were scheduled to expire after six months, essentially making the coupons worthless based on our travel cycles. We were not advised, and do not find in the promotional material any indication that "earned" Corporate points expire. Furthermore, Avis' own Internet site, as of May 5, 2003 does not indicate, even in the section entitled "terms and conditions" anything about the hidden fact that points expire. We were loyal to Avis and spent many thousands of dollars on their cars. We expected to receive free rental days, not worthless pieces of paper. If the company intended to expire points, it needed to make that clear in its literature! I would like my points exchanged for rental coupons with unlimited duration and I would like the company to make its promotions accurate in the future. The company refuses to acknowledge that there is any problem. Robert makes some very good points. We suggest he a.) send a copy of his complaint to the Federal Trade Commission () and b.) file suit against Avis in Small Claims Court, which would quite possibly drain some of those free miles out of Avis' tank and into Robert's.
