Toys R Us - Pricing

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Today, I decided to go to Toys R Us on East Kellogg in Wichita, Kansas to buy our Butler County Saddle Club gifts for the Easter Egg Hunt. As any club, I had a budget and thought that would be the place to go. Wrong!

I shopped and shopped and took my cart of goodies to checkout. First thing is the only cashier on duty was the girl in the customer help desk and the line was pretty long. (She finally paged for help). This was at 1:45 pm on a Friday. Next, people kept cutting in line to get their paychecks, okay. Finally my turn, first I had picked up several Crayola Crayon travel packs. On the shelf they said $6.99 and all over the isle, it said buy one get one half off. Well, not only did they ring up $10.99, I was informed they were not part of the sale. Next, I had bought some lunch boxes out of a bin that said $4.99 to $6.99 (there were several so not put there by mistake). Well, these rang up at $9.99 and I was told they were there by mistake.

I went back to the Crayola isle and got an employee off the floor and showed her the stack of packs I bought and where it was $6.99. Also, I pointed out the buy on get one half off. Her reply was, "Well, I don't know what to tell you, they are what they ring up." I did not buy anything from their store and will not recommend anyone to take their children there to pick out a toy to only find out their marked prices are not correct. They never offered me a good explanation or offered to call a manager. I will buy the toys elsewhere.

As a doting grandmother of an 8 year old boy, I frequent Toys R Us in a fairly regular pace and as such, I obtained a reward card, which I used until recently.

I was wondering about your rewards until today, when it became clear that it is nothing more than deceptive and misleading practice on the part of Toys R Us to reward loyal customers with useless gimmicks, and even as such, it is very hard to redeem (I taught my grandson about this, so the young generations might have an idea of the phony philosophy of some companies, a philosophy obviously stemming from the head of the company).

As a reward offer, I received an email on January 1st 2012 of a few options, discounts valid only for the next couple of weeks. As a practical/realistic matter, I would guess that 99.9% of Toys R Us customers spent what they had to before and up to Christmas, therefore offering a few more gimmicks is not an option. One could postpone buying, say a TV until after Christmas, but you cannot postpone Christmas presents to a child until the price drops! Among the few offers, there was some discount for Huggies diapers. One does not have to be a genius to figure that you cannot postpone buying Huggies either, when the necessity arises. Among the other offers (Victorious Tory Dolls, Comforter sets and Lamaze Toys), I opted to look into the $10 off of Imaginarium products, valid for the purchase of $25 or more.

I looked at the 16 possibilities offered for 8 year old kids, and this is when I concluded the deceptiveness of the practice. None of the offers cost more than $19.99, therefore one cannot meet the qualifying threshold amount, unless one buys 2-3 of the same junk. The manufacturers recommended age for many of the 16 products was 3-5 and up, but Toys R Us increase those age range to 8 (and up to 14 ), I guess, to apply to wider range of kids who might find those toys boring. Its called cheating in my book. The offers have zero educational or entertaining value, rather something that no one in sane mind would buy. I wonder what Mr.Storch, as a CEO, had in mind, when he put gimmick and dishonesty ahead of the principle of good practice, building up loyalty and retaining customers? For one, he certainly lost me.

I am completely outraged. I went online and called the Toys R Us store today to make sure that Toys R Us had a price matching policy before I went to the store. I was told that all I needed to do was bring the ad. I went to the store picked out to iHome Charging Stations and presented the ad from Big Lots where it was on sale. The young man at the register was new and did not know how to do it. So the manager was walking by and he looked at the ad and told me that they are not willing to match the price—not cannot, but will not.

He will not match the price of the devices with the ad in his hand seeing that this is the exact item. My sister went two days ago the same day and purchased the items from the same store, but the manager, Hazel, decided he did not want to do it. I am so outraged that I want to call the television news station here in Texas and tell them how this store does not honor price matching and will only do so if the store chooses not to do so based upon the item they want to match.

I am so upset because price matching should not be determined based upon the item. Something needs to be done or I will make sure that I will do something about this because I wasted my time and my gas to go to this store and they not honor the policy. I want the items for free since they should not have wasted my time and ** me off because they didn't honor their price matching policy. I want the items for free because they should not have wasted my time and ** me off since they didn't honor their price matching policy.

Toys R Us HURST (7809): 1319 Wes Pipeline Road, Hurst, TX 76053 (817-589-7181).

I saw an item my 3-year-old son was absolutely crazy about in the big book. I attempted to purchase it just before Thanksgiving. It was out of stock. A few days later, it came back in stock $50 more than it was before Thanksgiving. My son really wants this, so I purchased it assuming that I could get a price adjustment if it dropped in price. I had something similar occur last year and you took care of it without any issue at all.

Today it dropped in price, back down to where it was before Thanksgiving, just 5 days after I spent $150 for it. I was told that I could no longer get a price adjustment because the policy had changed. I have not even received the item yet! So, now I have to buy another one at the new price, and mail back the one I purchased! This seems crazy. There is free shipping to me, so they already paid to ship the old one to me.

They are going to pay to ship me the new one. And they are going to pay for me to ship the old one back and waste a lot of people's time including their own employees, not to mention the huge amount in shipping since this is a large wooden item. I can't imagine how this is hassle-free for anyone. I would have liked to speak to a manager about this policy. I called through the 800 number and tried to speak to a supervisor, but was told that none was available.

On October 20, we went to Toys R Us in Sugarland, Texas to do some Christmas shopping since your TV ad states that you have layaway. We asked at the service and were told that you do not do it. Today, I looked online and it clearly states that Toys R Us is doing layaway from swing sets to Lego sets. I called the Sugarland store and talked to Steve (manager) who states that they do not at this location.

I am still trying to find where it states "at participating stores only." A company should not brag about helping families in this economic time to make spending easier if they truly do not care. Layaway is a great option and was looking forward to spending my money with Toys R Us. Due to the lack of customer care, I will be spending my money elsewhere. This is the type of service that is expected from Walmart, not from Toys R Us. I will travel 240 miles to the nearest Kmart to do my layaway.

I purchased an item with a sale price tag on it. When I got outside, I noticed there was another tag underneath. I removed it and the price tag underneath showed a lower price. So then I went back into the store and checked the shelves and there were more of the same items with 2 tags on it (the second tag was underneath the higher price tag). I showed the cashier, she called someone and they said I would have to pay the higher tag. I got her to call the manager and the same story, I have to pay the higher. I do not think so. I say when there are 2 tags, even if one is over the other, I should have to pay for the cheaper.

I purchased a Loving Family Grand Dollhouse (super set) for my daughter at Toys R Us, for $159.99. When I got home, I found it in Fisher Price's catalog for $100.00. I called to see if they would price match, but they would not. A $60 is quite a mark-up, if you ask me.

Toys R Us had a circular distributed that offered 2 Video Games for $50. It was supposed to run from 6/19/2011 to 6/25/2011. On 6/21/2011, I went to the store and was advised that even though the promotion ran for 2 days, it was being terminated and being replaced with a new offer of buy 2 games to get a $50 gift card. Even though I provided proof and receipts of numerous people receiving the previous offer, Toys R Us would not honor it.

Friend told us about the Wednesday Dec 16, 2009 TV ad regarding the 50% off many toys including Transformers and that the stores will be open until midnight. We went to the store on Arden Way, Sacramento, CA and there were no signs mentioning the ad. We asked one of the cashiers and he said he has not heard of such ad and those discounts were not available. We left the store and while in the car, we heard the exact ad played on TV regarding the Wednesday 50% off toys deal.

So we called the Arden Way store, could not get through. Then we tried the store on Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights, CA and finally got to speak with a customer rep who did confirm their store will have special hours and will be open until midnight on Wed. Dec 16, 2009, but she did not know anything about the ad. She did also mention that there were other people calling earlier in the day asking about the Wednesday special deal, but she still didn't have any information. While on the phone, she put us on hold to speak with the manager, then came back and said the manager is not aware of the deal. We heard the ad on the radio, our friend saw it on tv and obviously other people have heard or seen it too because the customer rep admited receving calls earlier in the day.

Toys R Us is running daily coupons on their website. The daily coupon for Dec 15, 2009, was '40% off all Wheeled or Spring Horses & Pre-School Ride Ons from Little Tykes, Fisher Price, & Step 2'. I picked up a Step 2 Whisper Ride Buggy and took it to the cash register.

After the cashier tried to ring up the item, she found the coupon would not discount the Buggy. She called over her manager and the manager tried the coupon with the same results. I was then told, "although it is a Step 2 wheeled car, the coupon does not apply to all Step 2 ride-ons." Then she further tried to explain that there were only a variety of items that the coupon covered.

When I further pressed the issue of the coupon mentioning "ALL" wheeled ride-ons...she advised there was nothing she could do since she did not write the coupon and the coupon was not working for this item.

No offense to the asst manager, but the explanation was absolutely absurd. You cannot dabble with the semantics of the coupon and then come out and then say, 'sorry, I didn't write the add'l. The fact that I wasted an hour of my day (after work) to drive to the store, pick out the item, and deal with this type of excuse for false advertisement is wrong.

This is a recurring problem with this company and I have contacted them directly before, however, they choose not to correct. When you try to use their coupons featuring a one item discount, you run into a major problem as follows.

I tried to purchase socks for my granddaughter that were either $2.49 each or 3/$6.00. I chose three of them and went with a 20o/o off coupon for "one item". Because they were 3/$6.00, to me that is one item. When the register rang it up, it automatically goes back to the $2.49 each price and took off 50cents on one pair. The manager was called to the register and he said, there is nothing he can do the register automatically goes to the original price and discounts one item.

In essence, the coupon doesn't inform you that this is their policy and in my eyes most people do not realize how they are being cheated. It actually costs more to use the coupon then not. I had the same problem with another one of their stores and referred it to the corporate office. They said Mgrs. cannot over-ride the computer and there is nothing they can do. However, they sent me the difference in a gift card at that time.

This is very misleading to the public and if you are not aware of it, you are taken. The company is aware they do nothing about it in store postings or on their coupons.

Toys R Us taking advantage of the shortage of zhu zhu pets by jacking up their prices. Toys R Us raised their price on the pet city $30 overnight. Outraged!

On Dec. 06,I went to the Local ToyRus store to purchase a birthday gift. I was in line next to a large bin that have about 30 boxes in it. The large sign on top clearly displayed $69.99. The item was the Zhu Zhu Pet Giant Funhouse and I got two. One for a grandchild and one for my elderly neighbors to give to their granddaughter. I proceeded to the register with the three items. The cashier told me that there was a limit of one only on the funhouse.

I said oh I'm sorry I didn't see a sign. She called out "Josh!" and a young man came over. She said there is no sign saying one only and he said to me one per customer. I told him there was no sign that stated 1 per customer and I explained that the other was for an elderly couple. He smirked and said, "that's what I'm here for to tell you" as he was making faces! In other words he was being a real smart alec! Then he ran back to service deck and scribbled on paper with a pencil a 1 per customer sign and taped it to the lower part of the bin.

The cashier rang up my funhouse and suddenly it was 129.00! I told her the display sign showed 69.00. Again with "Josh"! He got in my face again, ignored the sign and said well we are selling these for $129, one per customer. I told the cashier I did not want it and bought the one Bday gift and left. If I wanted to buy the funhouses for resale I would have paid the 129.00 went out and come back in to purchase another. Seems like a common sense deduction to me.

As I understand the Law, this is false advertising and deceptive trade. This is very similar to an incident I experienced in the same store a few months ago. I still have my correspondence with them from that incident and to date it has not been resolved. Current incident: was not allowed to purchase item at stated price, was embarrassed in front of others by some man on a power trip because he's a store manager. Previous incident: Have not yet received "free with purchase items" as advertised, was subjected to racial discrimination and publicly humiliated

I am writing to you in regards to an experience I had yesterday at Toys R Us in Tustin, CA, store 5638.

I have had a number of service issues with this particular store. With the economy what it is now you would think companies would try even harder to keep customers and not drive them away.

My experience today had to do with the much advertised buy 2 and get the 3rd free promotion. In my advertisement, which I brought with me to the store today, I was particularly interested in the Disney princesses. Back in the girls toy department there was the promotional sign where I was looking. I asked an employee just to be sure that the dolls I was looking at were part of the promotion. She asked another employee and they said yes. I then picked out:
My First Disney Princess Baby Aurora $14.99,
Disney Princess Tiana $10.99,
Disney Princess Shimmer Snow White $10.99.

The coupon and posted sign said the promotion excluded collectors dolls and these dolls were not.

When I got to the register, Bella, my cashier was very helpful in getting me (I think) a manager as the promotion wasn't ringing up. I had the coupon in hand but that did not seem to make a difference. The manager said it applied if The Disney Princess logo was on the outside of the box and the Tiana doll logo was on the inside of the box! Are you kidding me? I put back the items as they were not going to honor the advertised promotion.

My instinct got the better of me and I came home to log on to toysrus.com to look at the promotion online. Lo and behold every doll in my basket qualified for the buy 2 and get the 3rd free promotion. Needless to say I'm a little peeved right now.
My experiences at this store have not been great and the service at this Toys R Us and the sister Babies R Us location are so poor I don't even want to shop there anymore. I liked the selection but the value is not the best and the service is horrible.

I ask you, would you keep returning to a store that constantly fought with you about your purchases? I even had a return last year (without a gift receipt) that was definitely a Toys R Us exclusive item and was told by customer service that I was "out of luck."

I will now choose to shop elsewhere with a company that really appreciates my business and is a pleasure to deal with.

The company is using false pretense in their circular to customers into their store. The week ending 3/21/09 there was an ad in ToysRus paper for Pampers Sensitive wipes 6pk 430ct 2 for $12.I entered the store friday evenning to purchase the wipes and a feww other items. Upon reaching the register the wipes that an employee had given me from showing her the circular was not scanning at 2 for $12.The cashier called the mgr. which said it was not the box but actual a plastic bag.

When the store mgr.Jason came to the register he brought something total different from what was advertise in their paper, then proceed to inform me that there was a printing error and he would not honor the price in their circular.I found out from an employee that's the tactic being used to get customers into the store during this economical hardship(false advertisement).

I contacted the companies customer service office and was told that there is nothing that could be done for me the consumer because if the store mgr. said the circular is a printing error he is the only one that could honor the companies circular advertisement. As a consumer you've also been told that the customer is always right and if it's printed the company has to honor it.Well I found out that's not the pratice of ToysRus INC. but to do anything neccessary during this economical hardship to achieve their companies goal.I wish for you'll to look into this matter and hold the company responsible for getting customers into their store under false pretense.I look forward to hearing for you. Thank you

I could not get the Wipes at 2 for $12 because it was being sold to me at $14.99 each.I ended with the other items supported by the circular prices.

I was charged $17.99 for an item that I didn't purchase and was charged $24.99 for a doll that was marked $19.99. I told the cashier of the mistake before walking away from the register. She had me go pull the sticker from the shelf with the price. When I got back to the register, I had to wait in a long line just to get my receipt back that she was holding. Then someone else told me that I pulled the wrong sticker and went had me go back to the shelf with her to look at the price. When I asked her if it was $19.99 she didn't answer.

Then when she was issuing the refund I asked her if the item would be free because it rang up at the wrong price and she got very loud and rude with me when she told me that I would get it for the price on the sticker. She then told me that I would be getting a store credit for $24.37. I told her that I wanted to return everything if I was not getting cash back since I paid with my debit card for $44.00 of the purchase.

Then she told me to calm down and that the register was prompting her to give a store credit but that she would override it. It took over 20 minutes to get my money back, the cashier was extremely rude and I don't think I should have had to pull the sticker with the price, then have to go back with her to show her the shelf. I will never go back to this store location again. The customer service was terrible.

On feb 21,I placed a phone call to purchase the Crestwood Lodge Wood swing set for $799 from toys r us.This was a sail price that ended on the 21 of Feb.the weather was bad 8 inches that day,i called toys r us to see if they had any in stock (yes) i asked if they could hold the set until the 22nd and they said yes and give me the sail price due to the storm.

The next day i showed up to the store gave them my name, the clerk went into thhe back room to get the set.The clerk said that he could not give me the sail price due to it was over.I asked to speak to a supervisor and she also said the sail was over and could not help me.TOYS R US SAID THEY WOULD HONOR THE SAIL PRICE,AND THEY SHOULD.I purchased the set any but for $999.00. the store# 9262 if you could help i would appreciate it THANK YOU.

I prchased a Razor Power Wing for my son on 2-14-09 for $99.99. Today,2-15-09 Kmart's Newspaper ad had the same item listed for $90.I called the store and asked to speak with a mgr. I asked Bill, Mgr., what he could do about adjusting the price. He said they don't price match. I then called the 1 800 customer service #.Customer service rep, Ann, confirmed that the company policy was no price match. It is rediculous that they would rather loose this sale and me as a customer that refund the 10%. Too bad Toys r' Us.... that is the last dollar you will get from me.

I will no longer shop at Toys R Us and will contact local news media to complain. Given today's economy and stores going out of business in record numbers, Toys R Us is not making a smart move by adopting such a policy.

On Tuesday, 12/30/08,I purchased six toys on a $2.99 rack. I was charged $5.99. The Assistant Manager,Michelle said that the toys had the wrong model number and that we had to pay the $5.99. However there was no ra $5.99 rack at all. She rudely told us too bad and to leave. Her friend, another employee, threatened me saying "I am off the clock, you can get hurt."Her friend's name started with an "I" but her jacket was covering her name plate partially. i was scared and this is false advertising. Please help and advise.

On 12/20/08 I purchased a furreal pet toy for my daughter. The sign stated that it was $6.99 today only. Being so close to Christmas, the store was very busy, and the cashier was frazzled as he had to re-ring my order, due to my using the remainder of a gift card as well as a personal check (I do not use credit/debit cards). After Christmas I called the store to report that I had been overcharged 3 times the amount of the sale price. The worker put me on hold, coming back to say she could not find it. I explained again that it was a 1 day sale, asking her to look again. She came back, stating that she had found it, not realizing that it was a 1 day only deal, and that I should come in for a refund.

Upon entering the store the cashier was very condescending to me, stating that the item was $16.79, and that was the price she could give me. I asked her to recheck the $6.99 price, which she did, finding that I was right. She stated that since I had not come in within 48 hours of the purchase, that store policy prevented her from refunding the overcharge. She was however going to do me a favor and break policy to give me the amount on a gift card, as I had written a check. When I asked for my money back, she told me store policy requires a 7 day wait for cash back. When I asked how to return an item within 48 hours for the overcharged amount, while writing a check, she repeated store policy. After calling 1800toysrus, they confirmed that this is in fact their policy. I understand the 7 day check writing policy, but how can they overcharge customers, then refuse to give a refund? To me, that is stealing.

I do not wish to shop at toysrus anymore, but am stuck with a gift card, forcing me to shop there, or lose my money.

On went to Toys R Us at 4am because I had my eye on the Loving Family Dollhouse that was advertised online for $54.99, originally $149. I get there at 4am & there is no sign saying it's on sale, I spoke w/ the manager & he knew nothing of it. I called the 800 number , they knew nothing of it. They said that the online advertisement has nothing to do w/ Toys R Us & there is nothing that they can do.

This is bullcrap!! Toys R US is a multi million dollar company, you think they would hire someone to keep an eye on their false advertising. Im sure TRU is probably up to this scam to, to get people in their stores. I am writing my complaint on as many forums as I can. I am a school teacher, so I will tell everyone I know about this. Hopefully they will stay out of TRU from now on. I am really disappointed & Livid to say the least!!

Christmas is rolling around and my son wants a Thomas the Train table. We found at Toys R Us a train set called Imaginarium Classic Train Table with Roundhouse Wooden Train Set for 129.99. We waited till Black Friday hoping it would be on sale. Guess what, didn't go on sale, the jacked the price to 149.99.

I received an ad from Toys R Us advertising a Guitar Hero Complete Band Game for $99.99. They showed the picture of the product in the ad. I got up and went to the store at 7 am when they opened because this was a good price and I didn't think they would last long. When I got in there I was told that was not the item on sale. It was the Guitar Hero Super Bundle. Again that was not the item pictured. They told me the serial number in the ad was correct but the picture was wrong. They were sorry for the inconvience but they could not help me, except to give me the number to the toyrus guest services line.

So I called, the lady agreed me but said she would have to have the problem resolution committee call me back. What a joke! Some guy called me back and told me the same thing I heard at the store. I asked for his manager and was told he was not in today. This guy received my complaint and called me back. There was no committee and no resolution. I did find out however the store manager has the authority to handle the situation, so I went back tot he store.

The manager was the rudest indivdual I've ever talked to, and he told me the same thing, but this time he said it was a printer error and they now have a retraction printed at the register. They did not have that in the morning when I was there. One of the employees told me she told her manager this was going to be a problem when she first saw the ad and they did nothing about it until after i came in! I'm so angry! I want some answers! Can a Company advertise the wrong item and then renig on the price? Isn't this false advertising?

Advertised price was $99.99. Original price $189. I got screwed out of $89.01. More over the dollars it's the principal of it all and the aggravation it caused me and the work I missed.

I wanted a Bratz doll for my daughter, however when I went to purchase the doll I noticed that all the stores in my areas didn't have the African American doll. I then turned to the internet to order, however when I did a search, I realized that the WHITE doll is less than the BLACK doll. I don't think this is really fair. The dolls both come with the same accessories and what not.

Bratz Magic Hair Color Torso Cloe 14 Doll $19.99. Bratz Magic Hair Color Torso 14 Doll - Sasha African American $29.99

On 9/11/08, I went to purchase a 14 Diego bike for my son's 3rd birthday. When I got to the register with the purchase slip, I was told that the only bikes they had in stock were already assembled, and that I was going to pay the $10 assembly fee. For a moment, let's forget that every other store that sells bike in my area has FREE ASSEMBLY on their bikes. I DID NOT want a preassembled bike, because it is essentially a floor model. Most reasonable stores would discount the floor model to sell, but I was being asked to pay extra.

So, I spoke with a manager. He informed me that it is Toys R Us's policy not to wave the $10 assembly once the bike was built. So, I asked if he could discount the bike by $10 to offset the assembly fee (which I did not want). He refused to budge on the matter. I called 1-800-, and spoke with a representative named Kristen. She put me on hold to speak with her manager regarding my problem. Initially she was very polite, but after speaking with her manager she became very condesending. Her manager told her that it is Toys R Us policy to assemble as many bikes in store as possible because customer's can not assemble the bike correctly on their own. Basically, calling Toys R Us customer's stupid and incompetent. And continued that if I had ever assembled a bike that I TOO would never want to do so again.

As you can imagine, I was OUTRAGED by this notion. Kristen told me that she could open up a case, and that I would be contacted in 72 hours. WOW! 72 hours really! I searched any other store in the area that would carry children's bikes. After having no luck I was forced to go back to Toys R US to purchase the bike and pay for a service that I did not want. During my search I found that every other store provided bike assembly service for FREE. I also found out that Toys R Us is the only toy store in my area.

I am FURIOUS because I don't want to give Toys R US another dime of my money. This is a simple matter of right and wrong. And Toys R US is WRONG. So to sum up, I paid extra for a floor model that should have been discount, and was meet with not only indifference, but treatly rudely and condesendingly. I only purchased the bike because it was the only thing my son wanted for his birthday.

Paid $10 extra for a service I did not want in the first place, because according to Toys R US their customer's are stupid and incompetent.

I purchased $600 in electric cars for my kids on the Toys R Us credit card with six months no interest program. I made a second transaction (a service agreement for one of the cars) about 15 minutes after the first transaction was completed and because of that second purchase, I cannot avoid paying interest on the second purchase until after the first item with deferred financing is paid off. I cannot stipulate that the second amount be paid first. I feel this is wrong.

I have accrued $1 in finance charges on the second $47 purchase. The card will be paid off today. The finance charges represent a 30% interest rate. I am reporting this because of principle. Toys R Us is a store where many parents might make poor decisions because of the look in their childs eyes. Some of those parents might really rue the day they made that purchase; believing that they thought did not need to come up with the full amount for 6 months. I feel that these facts are critical to the decision making process and they should be highlighted rather than burying them in fine print. It should be just as important and explained just as clearly as the no interest point.

Purchased an Intex pool 18x9x52 for $799.00 on 5/30/08 online. Saw on 6/23/08 that the sale price was $629.00.. Called them. Said they do not do price adjustment. Any store I have ever ever dealt with will do a price adjustment within 30 days of purchase. Did not find any info on their website regarding this. I want the price difference refunded to me, together with tax adjustment.

My wife and I went to Toys R Us, in San Mateo, on 6/15/2008, and bought a few items. I didn't notice until a couple days later, when I was filing away the receipt, that they charged an item TWICE. So I went back to the store on Saturday, 6/21, explained and showed the receipt, and the first thing they asked was did you call in about this? I didn't, so she talked to the store manager on the side, and he didn't approve it. She came back and said that since I didn't call in, they couldn't refund it. I reasoned that it shouldn't matter if I called in or not, it's still an item charged twice.

So I asked to talk to the manager, who told me I should have called in earlier. I argued that it was only 6 days, and that their refund policy was 45 days from the date of purchase, as stated on the back of the receipt. No, he said. He cannot give out any refunds without any merchandise being returned, it is against store policy. I reminded him I was billed TWICE for ONE item, therefore I don't have an actual item to return, and I just want my money back. He said no, he can't offer any refund without merchandise to return, and that there was no 'proof' that I was double charged for one item, and rudely walked away. I know economic times are tough, but when you CHEAT customers, this is where a store loses their INTEGRITY.

I lost $12.99 + tax. This isn't a big amount, but I've learned my lesson and will check my receipts after EVERY STORE purchase. Toys R Us is scamming their customers! Check your receipts in the store, BEFORE you leave...

i purchased a tread mongoose bike in may from this store mentioned above when i arrived home i realized that the cashier charged me $12.00 for assembly of the bike, but i bought the bike off the rack already assembled. i would like to know how if possible can i gert my money back.

Rude people. There was plenty of help working but no one working. Very overcrowded at registers, only two people on cash registers on a Saturday. They both were backed up and called for help several times (5) to be exact. There were plenty of people walking around the store talking to each other, not doing any real work, so I know they had help. The people in front of me had an item without the correct price on it. Instead of a customer service rep going to get them another product with the correct price, the lady finally had to go and get one herself. Because no one would come to the front to help. Then the cashier was very rude to this couple.

When I got to the front she was rude to me as well. I had a previous career in retail (while I was in college) this is not the way you treat people. Then when I called the manager to complain, (I have never complained about any store in the past, I try to be understanding) the manager on duty was worse and then started trying to blame me the consumer. I asked for her district manager's number. She refused to get it from me. I then called what I guessed to be the district store in Greenville, SC. I got a very delightful lady on the phone very concerned. She took my number and said she would give it to the DM. She called me back and said he would give me a call Tuesday. I was fine by this, but I never got a call from the DM either.

It appears they have major problems in this region and it starts at the top. No wonder many parents are shopping online and at other stores. Toys R Us is the only Toy Store in Anderson now. So they have a type of Monopoly here. One can drive 30 minutes to Greenville but many just deal with this. Not very fair to consumers.

I really don't need legal remedy but I would like consumers to know about how the supposed family friendly store is not very family friendly. Also there website has no place to file complaints.

pricing above ground pools with daughter tuesday 5-27-08. intex pool advertised for 799.00 at that time. called sunday 6-1-08 to check to see if poll was still in stock at store and still on sale for 799.00, original price was 899.00 talked to two different people on phone. first one said let me get someone that knows more about that. the second gentleman told me there was one left in store if i picked it up today it would still be 799.00. asked if the store would hold the pool under my name.

Our family borrowed a truck to haul pool home. We drove 50miles to store. when we got to store an employee called the manager to store desk where i was told we have that poll in stock but the price is 899.00 do you want it or not? i explained that i had called this very store and talked with a gentlman who told me it was still on sale for 799.00. we made special trip to pick it up and wouldn't have come down if I had been told it was more money. she told me well that's hat it is do you want the poll or not. I told her i did not.

I have been a faithful toysrus shopper with birthdays and holidays for my chldren, grandchildren and friends. I asked her name and left the store. I am terribly disappointed in the callous way we were treated. my daughter worked at that very store and she said someone should have called the manager at home as it was on a sunday. I no longer feel I can shop at that store given the way we were treated. As my family left a lady met me outside the doors of toysrus and told me she had been treated the same way by the same woman.

I went into the store at Baybrook Mall in Webster on Saturday (3/1/08) to purchase some little plastic balls for my son's ball pit. While in the store I saw that they had a buy one, get the other half off, sale and decided to purchase a couple of short sets for my son. When I got to the register the item rang up full price, and I told the salesgirl that it was on sale. She said that she didn't think so, but she grudgingly called for a price check. The boy who came to check also said that the sale was over, but I told him that no there is a big sign advertising the sale. He went and checked and brought back the sign and did show me where the date of the sale ended several days before. I felt like since the sign was still up (and they had plenty of time to remove it before Saturday), that they should have honored the sales price. However, he couldn't have cared less, and when I complained to the customer service person all I got was a shrug and a very snippy sorry.

The Toys-R-Us at Baybrook Mall in Webster is just awful. They are constantly out of stock, no one ever offers to help, and Heaven forbid you actually ask someone at customer service to do something crazy like look in the computer for an item.

There were no economic or physical damages. I just didn't purchase the items there. Instead I went to the Carter store and bought summer clothes from them. I absolutely can't stand Toys-R-Us, and I think I will start ordering my things online from any other toy store but them. One interesting thing I picked up from the Toys-R-Us website is that the CEO of Toys-R-Us, Mr. Storch, came from Target. Apparently he was Vice Chairman of Target Corporation in charge of strategy. Target's another store I don't shop at due to their horrible customer service and disgusting return policy.

Today I found Leapster from Toys R Us online for $49.99. I made a b-line drive to Toys R Us in Austin Texas. There were only two units left and a handful of games with it. I took one to the counter and it rang up as $59.99. I told the cashier that the online Toys R Us has these for $49.99 and would like to be offered that same price. I was told that they do not do price matching. I asked the cashier that I am not asking for a 'price matching', but rather I would like for them to honor their internet prices. I was sent to a store manager, who said the same thing.

Ultimately, I did not purchase the product and left the store. Never buying anything from Toys R Us again.

I ordered 3 things with two day shipping. The website said all were available. At the end of the ordering process, after my confirmation, a screen appeared saying TWO of the things I was ordering were not available and they would contact me when the items are available. Then, they charged me the same shipping charge on just one of the items. Ridiculous.

I ended up spending way more on shipping than I intended and would not have bought the item from them had I known.

They had a Black Friday Early Bird Special printed on their flier for a Zune 30 GB for $80. I was there an hour before they opened the store that early morning and waited again in line inside the store to get into the electronics for 5 minutes when their staff announced that the item is sold out. I find their ads false and deceptive. Toy's R US should be penalize for such false advertisement.

Toys R Us had an advertisement that stated 50% off all items in the store on 11-16-2007 and 11-17-2007. I had even called to confirm, and they were very reluctant to say. Then when my husband went to purchase there was no sales like that. When I called back and spoke to a manager she said that they had had a bogus ad run on the radio and that they never would have a sale like that. I consider this false advertising. I believe this has happened before. Let me know.

Twice in 1 week Toys R Us has told me they have something that they really don't have. First I called to see if they had a sand table in stock and was told they did. I made a special trip into town to have it for the weekend. I paid and waited outside for them to load it in the car and was then told they didn't have any. Two days ago I called to see if they had a swingset in stock and was told they did and would put it on hold for me. I said we'd be in Thursday evening (tonight). We went Thursday evening and paid for it.

After 20 minutes we were told they sold it to someone else! They had another one on the truck but couldn't get to it yet and we could come back tomorrow afternoon. She called me tonight, 20 minutes before closing time, to say they found it and we could pick it up now. We'll see if it's still there when we go back tomorrow! I understand inventory mix ups sometimes, but twice in 1 week! We've wasted a lot of valuable time and gas in an attempt to buy relatively large items from them. The workers are polite, but the store or the entire company has some problems!

I went to ToysRUs to buy an Xbox 360 for my family. This video game has been very hard to find because of its huge demand. I was a excited and little surprised to find it at ToysRUs. Inside the store they promote the game and the prices ($299 for the basic console and $399 for the advanced one). To purchase either version of the product, one has to pick a paper ticket available besides the Xbox360 stand and bring it to the cashier. I took the $399 ticket to the cashier. She went to get the actual box and right at the check-out she told me, in Spanish: I can't sell this to you unless to buy an additional controller and 2 games. These have an additional value of aprox. $160. I asked to speak to the manager and the cashier called her.

When the manager came I told her that I already had games and additional controllers and only wanted to purchase the new console. She told me that my games wouldn't work with the new console.. which is false since one of the main advantages of the most expensive console is precisely that you can use it with your old games. I then complained and told her it was an abuse since there's no sign of having to buy a $600 bundle inside the whole store... just the $399 price. I told her I would report it and she told me whatever, that's just the way this is, it comes from above. ToysRUs is just adopting an abusing attitude based on the fact that there's big demand for this product... but forcing people at the cashier, without any previous notice, to spend more money (on an already expensive one) is too much.

The consequences are only moral. It took me an hour, between checking the prices, getting in line, asking for the product, finding out about their abusive policy, waiting for the manager, explaining my dissapointment and finally, having to leave with my daughter empty handed without a good answer for her.

The store is going out of business, everything is 30-50% off, I noticed a WWE real sound arena playset listed for $7.00. When I went to purchase said item, the cashier rang it up in the 25-30 dollar range, I said No way, look at the sign. I then showed the yellow card that said 7 dollars, they said that was the price for baby strollers, but I quickly pointed out that it said the words real sounds arena on the yellow card, they talked via walkie-talkie to April the manager who refused to even come out and talk to me, and refused to sell the product for the $7 price, two friends pointed out that this was illegal, they simply ignored them and threw away the yellow $7 sign. Earlier, my friend had asked if he could buy the X-Box console that was on display, they said it was not for sale despite the fact that the signs all over the store say Everything must go! No exceptions.

I have purchased many items from this Toys R Us location over the years, and I can say with confidence I will never return after the way I was treated, and the shady way the situation was handled, it saddens me to see the store close and to have my last visit there leave such a sour taste in my mouth.

I purchased $146.00 in merchandise at the store because according to the ad, I would get $10 off my purchases (which would make them about the same price as the local WalMart when not on sale). I was so annoyed at the mismarked prices on items that were actually higher than the shelves said that I bought less than I had originally planned to buy. When I checked out, instead of my $10 discount, I was handed a gift card. I was surprised but pocketed the card and left. I put the card in my daughter's Christmas stocking thinking I'd use it to help buy an additional cartridge for her Leapster.

Christmas came, and we were in Florida, so I put the card in my purse and forgot about it until yesterday. I went to Toys R Us to get the cartridge and was told that the Gift Card was expired. The manager told me there wasn't anything he could do. Gee, I didn't get my $10 discount as advertised and the $10 Gift Card was useless. I emailed the corporate office listed online. So far I have heard nothing. Oh well, I know that from now on, I'll go straight to Walmart.

The Black Friday ads and the ads posted in the store all read opening time as 6 a.m. I arrived at 5:50 a.m. The store had opened at 5 a.m. and the two items I really wanted (Craig MP3 player 29.99 and certain game boy advance games) were already gone.) I would have gladly gotten there earlier if the correct time would have been posted.

I was also charged 14.99 for a pac man game boy advance which was in a bin (with others of the same kind) marked 9.99. I had 13 gramdchildren I was shopping for. My plans were to make purchases for all of them at Toys R Us. I had to travel to several other stores to finish my shopping. This was a physical strain on myself and cost me more in gas and more for the products.

I spent a long time gathering my list of toys to send to my niece in Ohio (I live in Texas) and when I get to check out, I find that shipping charges on an order of $173.00 was $40.00. They advertise great shipping deals but they only apply to junk toys no one wants. I sent the list to my niece to purchase in her store and in 2 days time (just in time for the biggest shopping day of the year) prices went up on the toys. One even went from $39 to $52 in two days for the Friday after Thanksgiving sale. Sale? What a rip-off. I will not shop there again. I switched to them after Wal Mart's rip-off last year. Now where?

I reserved a copy of Cinderella in 9/2/05 with the intention of picking it up on 10/4/05 when it was released to get the free Cinderella clock. The coupon we recieved in the store when we reserved the movie stated that when you pick up your reserved movie with your coupon you are entitled to a free Cinderella clock.

Well, keep in mind nowhere on the coupon or sales receipt did it say while supplies last or first-come first-serve basis or anything. It just said you had to reserve the movie by 10/3/05 and bring in the flier with your receipt to get the movie and clock.

On 10/4 my daughter, for whom the movie was bought, was admitted to the hospital and I was unable to go to the store to pick up the newly released movie. I went on 10/8 to claim my clock and movie and was told there were no more clocks -- they were while supplies lasted. I said where does it say while supplies last? She then told me that whoever comes in got a clock.

Well the little flier coupon said you had to have coupon in hand to get the clock with your reserved copy. I had a reserved copy but no clock. This is false advertisment and I think I am entitled to a clock. Now they took the coupon from me so I have no proof I even had one except for the staple rip in my original receipt from 9/2/05.

We purchased a bike on November 26, 2000 after reading in a flyer that this particular bike (a Barbie bike) came with a Barbie T-Shirt. The night that the bike was purchased, the manager stated the t-shirts had not come in yet. Repeated calls resulted in the same answer: the shirts had not come in yet. Finally, when I called on 12/27/2000 at 4:00 pm, I was told that the shirts would not be coming in at all. I feel that the T-Shirts were advertised for the sole purpose of getting people to purchase this bike from this store.

The store must provide Richard with the shirt or, failing that, permit him to return the bike for a full refund. If it refuses, Richard should complain to the Federal Trade Commission and local consumer protection agencies.
