USAEURO Bike

PO Box 321414, Cocoa Beach, Fl 32932-1414

Shawn of Asheville NC writes (12/6/01):
I have been an avid cyclist for 12 yrs. and belong to one of the largest bike racing clubs in the southeast region. I have been riding Italian products during this time. In June, I placed an order with with a deposit of $195 with USAEURO BIKE for a "stock" Daccordi bike frame. It was received in late August, and in Sept. I tried to have the components installed by a local bike shop(one of the top 100 bike shops in the country).

They found the frame to be damaged and couldn't install a part called the BB or bottom bracket. I called the company and explained the situation. They informed me this shop wasn't qualified to work on Italian products and to send them the frame and part (at my expense) and they would install it. I was skeptical since one third of club members I know have their Italian products serviced at this shop. He also said a "special tool" was needed. I have contacted several professional shops in the country and no mechanics or shop owners have heard of the "special tool" for installation.

He installed the part and shipped it back and charged my account an additional $45 for labor and shipping. When I received the bike it was discovered the part was in backwards! I called to explain this and now he informs me that all Italian BB are installed that way. Again, I contacted a number of shops, and again under no circumstances should this part be installed backwards!

The president of the company asked me to provide a fax number so he could send me documentation from three other shops in the Cocoa Beach area claiming that indeed this part should be in installed backwads. I am still waiting!

I sent the bike back, (at my expense again) and insisted on another frame or full refund. No deal, he informs me I have 2 options. He sends me the damaged product back (at my expense) or he keeps the bike and he charges my account an additional 10% restocking fee and a store credit for the balance.

My credit card company has resolved this matter in my favor, but USAEURO BIKE has 45 days to contest. I am still out over $75 in shipping costs.

The total amount for the origianal order is $1625.99.

Since the credit card company has resolved this in his favor, Shawn will at least recover the major portion of his payment. We'd say he's out of luck on the shipping costs
