The explosions can be heard for miles. When you step outside on Sunday, to take out your garbage or simply to relax between ten and three oclock in the afternoon, have you wondered what those continuous explosions are? Most residents probably think that construction work is being performed. I always wondered. But after a long walk with my wife, we ended up at Evanston Golf Club. Dozens of wealthy club members were having a barbecue and shooting guns. Hundreds of empty gun pellets were scattered all over.
This should stop immediately. According to Village of Skokie manager, the Club is not in violation of Skokie Noise Ordinance or zoning standards. This evaluation has been conducted by an acoustical engineer. The following is a part of the engineers evaluation letter sent to me by the Village of Skokie Manager. Gun shot noise from the Evanston Golf Club exceeds the steady state noise requirement set forth in the Skokie noise ordinance, however, gun shot noise is not a steady state noise. Which means that if the shots were non-stop, like a machine-gun, it would be illegal. But, since they occur randomly, it is acceptable.
As I am typing this, with earplugs in my ears, I can still hear the gun explosions.
