Hal of Panhandle, TX, writes:
In February 2000 I received a call from a representative of Advanced Golf Design. The salesman offered to send me a set of golf clubs to test on the condition that I would be billed $748.00 on my credit card. According to the salesman, this money would be refunded at the end of the test period if I didn't want to keep the clubs. My Mastercard was charged for $748.00 on 2/21/00.

I received the clubs shortly thereafter. After the trial period of 45 days I called AGD to obtain a return authorization code as instructed. The salesman wanted to know why I was returning the clubs and I indicated that I couldn't afford the $748 price.

The salesman then asked if I would pay $300.00 for the clubs and I agreed to pay that amount. The salesman said that my credit card account would be credited for the difference of $448. As of 7/31/00 I have not received a credit to my account.

A few weeks later, Hal wrote:
The man I talked today (8/16) indicated that Advanced Golf Design has filed bankruptcy and that I should deal with my credit card company about any refund.

Kellye of Sparks, NV, writes:
I was contacted by a telemarketer to test play some golf clubs. I ordered two woods for a total of $250.00. After the 90-day test play I called and recv'd an RMA number and returned the clubs. I have yet to receive the credit to my account.

They have since changed company names and are now working under the name of Power Arc Golf. I was able to speak to a rep a couple of months ago and they had shown the return receipt of the clubs. They said my return was in thier credit dept. I have left several voicemails requesting a call back and no one has contacted me.

I do not have the clubs and did not receive my money back.

Follow-up:

I finally reached a woman at the number listed in Ft. Meyers, FL and was given the name of a customer service rep in California. His name is Mike Blaho, and his number is 1-800-662-6865, ext. 202. Mr. Blaho indicated to me that AGD is going out of business and that arrangements are being made to make refunds to customers starting 8/16. I'll believe this when I receive the credit to my account.
