Hollie of Battle Creek, MI April 7, 2009
Hollie of Battle Creek MI (04/07/09) As like most of the complaints I read, I too was called at work. I work retail so I wasn't really paying attention to the conversation. To get them off the phone I agreed to get the magazines. A guy called me a few days later to confirm my order. I told him then that I wanted to cancel because I wasn't allowed to have stuff mailed to me at work. He told me that he would call me in a few days.
I get a phone call from daphne, and I explained to her that I already told someone that I wanted to cancel and she told me that I couldn't cancel and that I was told that at the beginning. She badgered me until I finally relented and gave her my banking information since I felt I had no choice but to give it to her. I told her that I didn't have the money to pay for these magazines that I didn't want and she asked if I could make an initial payment of 20. Seeing as how I couldn't get out of it, I agreed. She then told me to hang on the line and a supervisor would go over my payment.
I then hung up since I was at work and had customers to help, and I didn't want their product anyway. A couple minutes later I get another phone call from daphne and my boss explained to her that I was busy helping a customer. Daphne got mad saying that she just talked to me, and my boss told her that now I was helping a customer. Daphne proceeded to call my work 5 yes 5 times in an hour in an attempt to talk to me. My boss finally told her to stop calling the store or she would call our legal department. I almost got sent home because I was so stressed that I couldn't do my job effectively. In addition to complaining on here, I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB of southeast florida.
Instead of the agreed upon 20.00, 90.00 was taking out of my checking account resulting in me having to pay my rent late.
Cindy of Trenton, MI March 18, 2009
Cindy of Trenton MI (03/18/09) They contacted my son at work, telling him he would get free magazines and after a few months could choose one magazine to receive for one year. He received magazines, but never received anything asking him what magazine he wanted to choose. Instead, he started getting phone calls insisting that he owed them money for all of these free magazines.
When he told them he never got a bill or information on ordering a magazine, they told him he owed them 25.00 (approx.) for the magazine subscription and an additional 70 in late fees. This kid cannot afford 95 for anything, let alone magazines that he was told were free. Harrassing phone calls; bills continue to come in the mail with both his name and address wrong. I (his mother) have talked to them on the phone and told them to stop calling and stop sending bills; he did not want the magazines.
Donna of Rifle, CO March 5, 2009

Michele of Belleville, NJ February 21, 2009
Michele of Belleville NJ (02/21/09) On 2/12/09, my husband received a call from PBS at his job. He repeatedly told the telemarketer that he was not interested in purchasing magazines. Yesterday, 2/20/09, we recieved a bill in the mail from Publishers Business Services for 717.60 for magazines that my husband supposedly purchased. In the bill was a slip that said that sales rep Renee Behan had a verified tape of my husband's voice confirming the order and that it could not be cancelled.I immediately called an 800 nunber that I found on www.magsub.com..
I spoke to one man who could not find the tape so he was trasfering me to customer service to cancel the order. That transfer lead nowhere. I called a second time, and they found the tape!! When they played it back it was very suspicious. The voice was very low, only gave one or two word responses and gave the wrong age for my husband and the wrong number of years that we owned our home. After much arguing they transfer me to the manager - James Woods(????).
He gave me a cancellation number to refer to for further billing. I am very suspicious of the manger's name and this cancellation number. Is this another part of this phone fraud?? I submitted a complaint with the FTC this morning. I'm just waiting to see what this company does next.
Terry of Somerset, PA February 16, 2009
Terry of Somerset PA (02/16/09) Last year while I was at work I recieved a phone call about taking a quick survey, I am nice so I couldn't just hang up on someone. So I did the survey while trying to work at the same time. I know they mentioned magazines for only a couple of bucks, but within a month i started to get phone calls from them saying my payments were overdue. I tried to cancel but I was told I couldn't cancel so of course I didn't want my credit messed up so i payed monthly payments for magazines I don't like or even want. It's costing me hundreds of dollars that I don't have.
Then later on they call me at work again and tell me I've been such a good customer they want to give me some FREE magazines, I questioned it are you sure it's free? They kept telling me it was. okay I said then find out it's costing me more money now Free ment a couple hundred dollars.
I have spent hundreds of dollars on magizine subscriptions I don't want and don't recieve all of them anyhow. And just today they call and tell me they took money out for my bill but rather than the 72.00 they took out 144.00 in wich they didn't think it was a big deal but now my bank account is way overdrawn because of them. What can I do?
