Shelley of Los Angeles writes:
The company described themselves as a loan referral company who found lenders for individuals with bad or no credit. They informed me that due to my credit history and indebtedness that I would need to insure my loan of $7,000.00 with a insurance fee of $650.00 which I sent via Western Union on Nov.1 to a Mark Taxis, for an additional fee of $57.00.

When I called the following day, one of the phone numbers was disconnected and the others had voicemails that said they were all full. I never received the loan. I sent a fax 2 weeks later demanding a full refund and promising that I would investigate the company if I did not hear from them within 48 hours.

A Michael Keats phoned me last Saturday, Nov 25 telling me that they were having trouble locating a lender, (after they assured me that one had already been obtained) and that they were still looking. They asked me to give them until Monday or Tuesday, Nov. 27 and 28 and they would contact me. If they were not successful they said I could get a full refund after I requested one in writing after 30 days. He gave me another number to contact him (416)451-5484 which I called back immediately and got a recording saying that the number was not activated. As of this date, 11/30/00, I have not heard from them, nor am I able to reach them by phone.

Yes, and since they're located in Canada, you're not likely to see your $707 again either. Consumers need to be extremely cautious when buying goods or services from another country.
