Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I had seen the book, Free Money 2012, being advertised on an infomercial and thought that it can't hurt to try. So I called to place an order for the book. Half way through the call and the 15 different offers they try to shove down your throat, I told the lady I didn't even want the book I initially called for because if it really worked, I wouldn't need all the add-ons. She said okay and to give her a moment while she cancelled my order then asked if I needed anything else and we got off the phone.

Today, I received the book along with a statement so I called in and they told me I have 30 days to return it for a refund but that they will not return the shipping and handling when I didn't order the book to begin with! They would not get a manager or supervisor on the phone nor would they give me the number to corporate offices and told me to give the book as a Christmas gift! IfIi do not receive my full refund within the next week, I will be calling my lawyer because this is fraud and wrong!

I purchased the free money book despite all signals to hang up after becoming inundated with offers to purchase gas cards, newsletters and CDs, to which my reply was an emphatic no! I explained to the sales person that I only wanted the two books and finally, I was told that my credit card was charged 52 dollars and change. I received the books in record speed along with several other items to which I did not order, which was a gas card certificate as well as several CDs. When I checked my bank account, I found that I had been charged $158.98, for items that I did not request.

Also, when I called to complain and to request my money back, the customer service representative was rude and impatient, claiming that I had requested these things when in fact I had not. The only thing I can think of is that this must be how they get payed based according to how many purchases they can get the customers to accept. When the customer refuses to purchase anything extra, it appears that they attach the items anyway and expect that everyone won't request refunds, and even when I did, I was refunded only $99.00 for the $100 gas certificate and nothing for the books.

When I called to inquire about the rest of my refund, I was told that when I initially made the call, I only requested to return the CD's and certificate and not the books. Therefore, if I want credit for the books then I would have to send proof that the books were included in the package by sending them a copy of the return postage receipt.

These people are scam artists that take advantage of the consumers by misuse of a person's credit card information.

A charge showed up on my credit card. I called the bank and asked them to investigate. I didn't order the book, I didn't receive the book. The company told them I had ordered the book. The bank removed the charge. This is truly a scam!

I was watching an infomercial called "Free Money", starring none other than the notorious Kevin Trudeau. It sounded too good to be true, and unfortunately it was. In the infomercial, he talks about only paying $19.95 plus shipping and handling (the amount of shipping and handling was completely undisclosed), and you get "5 ways to $5,000 absolutely free as our free gift." And if you call now, we'll even throw in Debt Cures they don't want you to know about, absolutely free. He continued talking about the Debt Cures book being absolutely free. When I called in to order, I'm then told that Free Money is $19.95 plus $11.95 shipping and handling. Then, I'm told that with the Debt Cures book, which they still claim is "free", you do have to pay an additional $11.95 "processing and handling" for the Debt Cures book. After already making us pay $11.95 for the processing and handling of the Free Money book!

So, basically, they were going to make me pay $23.90 "processing and handling" for 3 books. For this, I was expecting them to be shipped FedEx overnight, or at least FedEx 2-3 day delivery. But no, they then tell you that "due to incredible demand, it is taking between 3-4 weeks for delivery," which tells me they are mailing these worthless pieces of garbage that any high school kid could type up via the U.S. Mail, probably at bulk rate which couldn't cost any more than $5.00 maximum for postage. Anyway, after taking my credit card information, they proceed to offer me the "deluxe upgrade package" for $99.00, which I declined, because it sounded extremely cheesy and stupid, not to mention expensive. From the sounds of the "deluxe upgrade package", that should be thrown in as the free gift.

They flaunt how they will throw in information on how to get your free credit report every year, offer a consultation with a "wealth advisor", and offer 10 months of $10.00 rebates for gas or Walmart purchases, which "is like getting the deluxe upgrade for free!" Well, first of all, everyone knows that everyone is entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the 3 credit bureaus. That is common knowledge. We also know that very few people take the time to send in rebates. Not worth the hassle, and I'll bet the rebates, if they ever come at all, take 6 months to get your check for $10.00 after you jump through all the hoops of filling out the forms, sending in the receipts, etc. And this "free consultation with a wealth counselor", I'm as sure as I'm sitting here is some other sales person who would try to hawk more of Kevin Trudeau's complete scams for more of my hard earned money.

Next, came the offer for the "Free Money Newsletter for only $14.95 per month." Whatever! That's nearly $200.00 per year for, according to online reviews from people who have subscribed to it, a complete fluff! Apparently, there is nothing in these newsletters except fluff, and referring people back to his website which charges a fee to subscribe to or buying his books! Next, they tried to "upgrade" me to "express shipping." After already paying $23.90 for "shipping and handling" on 3 little books, they then want to charge me more money for express shipping. I said, "No, no, no." Next, the operator said, "One moment while I confirm your order." I thought that was when I was going to get my order totaled because I was going to make sure I was only being charged $31.90 for the Free Money book ($19.95) plus the shipping and handling ($11.95).

I had already declined the "free" Debt Cures book, which of course is not free; they make you pay an additional $11.95 for shipping and handling. But anyway, the operator said, "Your order is now confirmed." And I asked what my total was. The operator said, "$43.85." I said, "How did you come up with $43.85?" His response was that I am getting the Free Money book and the free 5 Ways to $5,000 for $19.95 plus $11.95 shipping and handling, plus the "free" Debt Cures book for additional $11.95 shipping and handling, which makes the total of $43.85. I then said, "Cancel the entire order."

So then, the operator proceeded to tell me he can't cancel my order because it's already been confirmed. I said, "I want to talk to your supervisor." He then told me, "You can't talk to my supervisor because I am working out of my home and we don't have supervisors available. The only thing I can do is give you the phone number for customer service." I told the operator that I was going to file a complaint with my state Attorney General's office, as well as the Federal Trade Commission for complete and utter false advertising, and deceptive practices.

While these products are probably complete junk and worthless, it is still completely acceptable to offer them for sale. It's also completely legal to charge fair shipping and handling fee for the product. But what is not acceptable, nor legal, is to continue flaunting all these additional things and claiming they're "absolutely free", both in the infomercial and even on the phone call to the operator standing by. They have to clearly disclose not only that there is an additional shipping and handling fee for each individual item selected, and the cost of the shipping and handling!

Then to make matters worse, I have tried calling their customer service number for 3 days in a row to tell them I want my order cancelled, and an immediate credit to my credit card before the order is shipped (which shouldn't be too hard since it takes them 4-5 weeks for the order to be shipped since I declined the "express shipping"). I am going to try for two more days. But if I still can't get through to customer service, I am going to dispute the charge on my American Express card. But regardless, even if they do end up crediting my American Express, I am still going to file a complaint with my state Attorney General's office for deceptive practices and false advertising as well as the Federal Trade Commission.

I order the book "Free Money" on July 12, 2010 and paid for it by credit card. They said it would take 3-5 weeks. It never really take that long, but it has been already 4 weeks and every time I call customer service and request to speak with a supervisor, there is never one that can speak with me so they say. Customer service said they would send me a form which I can have it reship. I ask for a refund. There is no reason I should have to wait another 3-5 weeks for someone else's mistake. I do not have any income coming in my household. Having the book as promise would help my situation a great deal. How could I put a price on what it may have cost me money wise? My stress level has been through the roof, which is breaking down my body.

This is a scam! I want my money back and it says I can get it, plus an additional amount for trying. I can't find where to send this back nor am I going to pay charges to send back. This so so wrong. He should be put in jail. I am on a fixed income and the money I paid, I could have bought food with. I was put in a hardship for 1 month without food.

There was an unauthorized transfer of funds from my bank, asb.com for 2 books from Freemoney.com, which I did not order. So I returned the books to the Freemoney.com. The company Freemoney.com has not refunded my money since June 2, 2010. I am disabled and living on SSI and I was out of spending money for the month of June.

I purchased the $29.95 Free Money Special as heard on TV from the Free Money website. I clicked on the link for $29.95 special on Monday, 3/9/2010. On Saturday, 3/13/2010 I received a box and opened it. I found shipping label that listed Items and total cost. The total on the label was $207.60 - product $149.85, S&H $57.75. We told him that shipping should have only 14.xx on a 5 lb. box. He said that because it was a double order, it was more. I did not order anything other than what was advertised in that special.

I called customer service on the same day I received the box. I never looked further at the shipping label. Heather was the operator I dealt with who was very pleasant and helpful. She offered $149.85 back, plus we could keep 2 books. I requested to speak with manager/supervisor who was not available. But she stated he would call back on Monday morning. As of 1:00 Eastern time, we had not received a call back so we called them. I requested to speak with the supervisor who is Mr. B. He stated we ordered it, and we have to pay for it. Then, my husband spoke with him, because I requested a full refund and we would pay for return shipping. He told me no; that is not how it is done. He said that we ordered all the extra books, which is not true. We asked to see the order form. He said that they don't have access, that it's all done by computer.

I asked if there was a mistake made, because we did not order all those books. I asked again, to show me proof that it was ordered that way. He said it's done online and it's impossible to trace. I went over on what was on the shipping label, what was ordered, and he said that was correct. The label stated 1 box and 6 different items. We looked further into the box and found that there 2 pamphlets (duplicates), 2 debt cure books II (duplicates), 2 FreeMoney books (duplicates), 3 CDs that I never requested, and some newsletter that was never requested.

We told Mr. B. that what was in the box was not the same as what was ordered. He insisted that they never make mistakes, that it was what I ordered. We told him that they were duplicates. He hesitated, scrambled and said that is what she ordered. I have requested full refund again. He said he can only do 149.85 and return everything. We told him on Saturday that Heather said she would do $149.85 plus keep 2 books. He stated we're not that far yet. Then, he offered what she offered with no books. That is not acceptable. We asked for a manager. He said that there is no one higher than him. I asked multiple times to speak with a manager or another phone and I was given nothing.

This is a scam. Deliveries are being made on items that are not purchased and they will not assist in refunding funds. People are being taken advantage of. People who call in on these offers are looking for help and not to be ripped off. All I want back is my $207.60 and I will return at our expense the package. My husband is handicapped and we thought that by reading these books, it would give us help and hope. $207.00 is a lot of money to be taken out of an account when they are limited in funds and only expected $29.95 to be taken. The stress alone is crazy.

Cancelled the order after discovering that the shipping and haldling cost is more expensive that the book. His TV advertisement is total fraud. I am hopeful this scam has already been reported to the consumer affairs department.

I was at work listening to his sales pitch on TV, and it came off as something really fishy. So I ran a websearch on him and, lo and behold, a slew of complaints circling the globe about him. He even has his own Wikipedia page! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Trudeau). You should read it

I purchased a book called "freemoney". The purchased price was $29.95 plus shipping and handling total to about $63.00.

After receiving and reading the book called free money,I was not impressed with the information that was in the book because much of the information could be research on the internet or the library. I called the company back for return and they gave me a return number to send back the product. I had to pay for shipping the product back to to them which was $9.95 at UPS.

My complaint is the information giving on the TV is quite accurate because the person selling the product make it seem easy to get grants which it not true. Furthermore, the return policy is not quite true as well, because you do not get all the money you spend when you return the product back within the 30 days of purchased.

I spend aproximately of $73.00 including return fees, but all I will be credit with is $29.95 on my card.
