First National Card: Too Good to be True?
Consumer Complaints

Darnell of Camden, NJ July 21, 2008

I received a credit card offer from CCA First National Card Corporation in the mail. I called to inquire. The offer sounded good because I needed to build my credit up. Part of the offer was that all purchases be made from their catalog. After about one month and when I did not receive the catolog I called to cancel because they had taken money out of my checking account. They told me I that I could not cancel or get my money back. Then, they suggested that I order at least 400 worth of mechandise when I receive the catalog and after I place the order then I should send them a written letter requesting to cancel.

I sent a written certified letter requesting to cancel and that no money is to be taken out of my checking account. They responded and said they would not continue to take money from my account. However, that was a LIE! In fact, they are continuing to withdraw money from my account.

Now I have bills that are past due, over draft fees from the bank and my credit is in trouble. This fraudulent company must be stopped.

I signed 6 credit cards up with this company back in July 2007 after my daughter suffered a major medical ailment that resulted in my not being able to continue to make regular payments at the high interest rates. The counselor set me up with payments that I could afford and monthly deductions were taken from my checking account. September 2007 three of those creditors dropped out of the program due to non payment.

I have continued to post updated balances and increased interest rates on MMI's web site and MMI did not notify me of any changes to those accounts. (non participation in the program) - three of my cards ended up with higher balances than when I started and one creditor just advised me that three months went by that they did not receive a payment at all - even though MMI reported that they paid them from the money deducted from my checking account. They take 46.00 a month from my payments to help manage my credit and credit balances yet they were doing nothing - not even dispersing monies appropriately and as agreed to.

By the time I caught on to this failure, I was over 700.00 in higher debt than when I started. I was able to work out a new payment plan that I handle with one of the creditors and one other I am currently trying to work out. I told the counselor, I can screw up my credit on my own, I don't need to pay a credit counseling agency (non-profit at that) to [mess] it up for me.

a catolog compay has been giving me the wrong information on there business they have changed me a total of 900.00 plus over draft fees. of 99.99 I have never used there services ones I tryed to cansel to stop the charges. as they advices me they told me that they never got the letter and that's why they changed me again. They also told me they could not credit my money back because they have a none refundible policy. Last time they told me because I didn't act in a 30 day period.

All of this have been done electronicly I never gave them by bank accunt don't know how they got it? since I never gave it to them, all I gave them was my debit card number. I have goten more unauthorized withdrawals but they have been small but a total of about 8 even over another card that they had no access to. they credit them all back acept the over draft fees from the bank. This is the only company that dosent want to credit me back and the bank told me they camt help me.

My friend received information regarding a new national credit card in the mail. He told me he got it activated using his account number and was waiting for his activated card. A few things seemed fishy, the fist of which being that there was no three digit code on the back of the credit card they sent him in the mail, and second the unbelievable 6,500 credit limit.

He finally got his card which we had been waiting for, and we went out to do shopping for our business. Not one store accepted the card, because there was no visa or Mastercard logo on it. We went to our apartment then researched information about the card- really to see what it was good for- and found it wasn't good for anything except items in their catalog.

It wasn't even a credit card (even though the company had stated that it was a credit card in writing quite a few times). Unfortunately it was the fist credit card my friend had ever tried to use, and didn't know to look out for some of the red flags. Unfortunately he gave his checking account number and his social security number to the company because they had asked for it. He managed to cancel the card today within the free activation timespan, but with all the information the company got out of him he also has to close his checking account just to be safe which is highly inconvenient. He's just lucky we found out more information before it's too late, because his free activation time limit ends in less than a week, and he got the card today. LOOK OUT!
