Eugene of Douglasville, GA, writes:
I saw this ad in the October issue of Creative Loafing about opening a Merchant account for your business and receive $1000. I called the company and asked more about the ad. I was then fedexed a contract from the company in November 2000. I reviewed the contract and then proceeded to hand deliver it to the company at their Atlanta address. When I arrived at the office I spoke with a Mr. Fred Henry who in turn told me that they would process the paperwork and my equipment as stated in the contract shall arrive to me within 3 days. One day after delivering the contract to Fred he called me to let me know that my check for $1000 would be included with the equipment in a small box. By the end of that week I did not receive any equipment or my check for $1000. I then proceeded to call Fred who stated that my equipment should be to me on Friday. The package didn't get to me until Tuesday. After checking the boxes and the merchandise to make sure everything was there, I discovered that the check was not enclosed. I called CEI on Wednesday and was told that Fred was out of the office and was the only one that could handle this situation. This has gone on for two months now. Fred has not returned any of my phone calls, he is never in the office and the address that was provided above never has anyone present at that location. I have tried on numerous occasions to get this problem resolved and I am not getting any cooperation. This whole ordeal has caused me a loss of business due to not being able to operate the product sent to me. No one came out to hook it up or tell me how to operate the machine. I have drawn more bills due to this contract that was signed. $1000 to sign a merchant account? Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? Eugene should remember that if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Report Your Experience
