Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Potassium Cl Er 10 Meq Ca - I have lupus SLE. I have been taking generic potassium pills for several years, along with Lasix. I was diagnosed with CHF a couple years ago. Since I have problems swallowing big pills or capsules, which is only the potassium, my pharmacist said to open them and sprinkle in applesauce or some sort of soft food. I have been doing this for years with no problem that I am aware of. I stir them up well and drink lots of liquids.

Since a "buyout", at my pharmacy, I noticed all my pills were changing quite often. I have had blue capsules, orange and white capsules, but no problems. This last script was white capsules from ZDUS. I opened 2 capsules, put them in my yogurt and thought it tasted really salty. I always drink a glass of milk with them too and toast. I brushed my teeth, but mouth was still salty.

Later in the evening, I took my second dose in applesauce. A few minutes later, I noticed my mouth and lips were burning like I had poured my mouth full of salt. My lips felt shriveled and my gums were a little sore, irritated. I could not put in my top dentures. My bottom lip split open, nothing serious, I put on lip balm. But I could feel tiny bumps inside my lips with my tongue. I kept drinking milk till I was sick of it and rinsing my mouth with water. I brushed my teeth several times. Nothing helped.

My mouth still feels irritated this morn, so I called my pharmacy as soon as I woke up. They were able to "find" some of my previous capsules and are delivering them tomorrow. I am very upset about this. I don't need any additional medical problems. I am upset enough to think I might be changing pharmacies after being a customer for a whole lot of years.

I have taken Carvedilol 25mg for over a year with no problems. I switched pharmacy and they use the Zydus brand. I have been experiencing vertigo since that change; blood pressure not that well-controlled either. I'm going to stop the medication for a few days and see what happens. If the vertigo goes away, I'll talk to the pharmacist.

After 3 months of experiencing extreme nausea every time I took ribavirin made by Zydus I switched to Three Rivers brand ribavirin and have not had any problems. I feel the filler used by Zydus caused the nausea. This is a common complaint about Zydus and I hope it is looked into soon.

I usually get my meds at my usual drug store, but this new drug store opened up, and I tried it, because it promised medicines at a much lower cost (for the past 4 to 5 months). I started to feel a difference on the 2nd month, but I thought it was just me. I take Topiramate 100 mg tablets (generic for Topamax 100 mg) for migraines and passing out. My migraines have been horrible in the past few months. I finally looked up Zydus Pharmaceutical, and found what I was looking for. The complaints that confirmed my suspicions that was going on in my own life, that my own meds were not working either. I have been on this medicine for 7 or 8 years, and I have never had this problem before. I'm now changing back to my old pharmacy, and Zydus needs to be shut down.

Recently a new dr. on 5/6/11 routinely prescribed the generic for Lamictal (Lamotrigine) which was filled by Aetna RX Home delivery, by Zydus, because I have been treated for bipolar disorder and depression since 2004. I have taken the name brand (Lamictal), and a clone by Teva (lookalike), and by Mylan (different appearance), but this new one by Zydus does not seem to be working at all. I have spent the last week in bed asleep and/or depressed, and have found myself having eccentric thoughts and irritable feelings. My husband says I have changed. I took an old prescription this morning which is why I am able to feel upbeat enough to write this.

My last Rx refill from Next Rx for venlafaxine 75mg was filled with tablets from Zydus Pharm. After several days, I was feeling woozy and becoming more depressed. Previously I was using Mylan's product. NextRx said that was all they had. I checked a couple more pharmacies and found a different product. I called an old friend who has been a pharmacist for over 30 years. I started to explain my problem and she said, "Oh the peach colored pills, they're no good. " She heard lot lots of complaints.

I take the drug Venlafaxine 75MG, round peach tablet with ZC 67 imprinted on the pill. I have never had a problem taking this medication. I refilled at Walgreens. Like normally, I took the pill and threw up. Thought maybe it was something I ate. The next day, I took the pill and did not throw up but had severe nausea. I took it on the third day and threw up again. I went on vacation the next day. Needless to say, I did not take them with me. I just got back and I too looked up the pill online thinking they must have given me the wrong medication. Found that it is supposed to be what I need but something is wrong with my prescription. The maker of the pill is Zydus Pharmaceuticals and I saw that there were a couple of other complaints so I wanted to add mine. People, be warned, they are making some serious mistakes at Zydus Pharmaceuticals.

I have been using the drug Norvasc (Amlodipine) 10 Mg Tab. I developed gingivitis and teeth bone loss and have been treated by a periodontist who stated that Norvasc was the cause. It will cost me about $5,000 when the treatment is completed. None of the literature from the manufacturer stated that this is a consequence of the medicine. I would like Zydus reimburse me for the costs.

I was on Carvedilol 12.5 mg- Dr Reddy's Mfg for 1 year with no problems. Kroger changed manufacturers to Carvedilol 12.5 mg- Zydus Mfg. I began taking them on July 2, 2009. I had a very bad reaction to the medicine.

This is what happened:

1st Day - excessive thirst or dry mouth.
4 days later this happened in this order:
1) Heart started racing continuously- never stopped racing- 24 hrs per day.
2) Nervous & stressed feeling. Hands felt shaky.
3) High blood pressure came (now under control, changed beta blocker)
4) Extreme fatigue (eyes burning some because I am so sleepy)-- had to take naps and slept 11-12 hours each night for about 3-5 weeks. Had to quit exercising for about 6-8 weeks because I was too tired.
5) Slower thinking, took me longer to respond to people. (no one noticed it but me)
6) Nausea, heartburn, and decreased appetite (started prilosec again, heartburn better)
7) Slight tingle in front of arms from wrist to elbow and slight tingle in front of legs from ankles to knees, had some tingling in face but not as much and seems to have stopped on face. All tingling is the same on both sides.
8) Face was flushing for a couple of weeks.
9) I had a cramp in the back of my right leg, it happened when I was not exercising.

10) My big toe was going to sleep while I was sleeping. (I had surgery on it a few years ago). This never happened before or after I got better.

tests: C Doppler and VEP, EMG, EEG, EKG, MRI, full heart check, lots of blood work.

I went to the doctor in July and he sent me to a cardiologist and a neurologist. I also went to the emergency room twice because my doctor thought I could be having a heart attack. I told my doctor I thought it could be the new Carvedilol 12.5 mg- Zydus Mfg because I got sick right after starting the new prescription. I even took my prescription back to Kroger to make sure they gave me the Carvedilol 12.5 mg- Zydus Mfg. I was afraid the pharmacy mixed them up. But they checked them and they where right. I even looked the picture of the pills up on the internet to be sure they where right. I work at home, so I was able to nap during the day because I was so sick and so tired. If I had a job outside of the house, I would have had to take a leave of absence or quit because I was too sick and too exhausted to work.

I really think these pills might have killed me if I kept taking them. It took 2-3 weeks for me to get better after I quit taking the Carvedilol 12.5 mg- Zydus Mfg. All of these strange side effects went away after I switched beta blockers. I had some very painful testing done by the neurologist. They thought I had Multiple Sclerosis. I contacted Zydus Mfg two months ago and asked them to pay my medical bills. I sent them my pills and a letter. Zydus never responded.
