I'm an avid hiker. Just a few weeks after starting Tricor, my back went completely out, and I suffered severe pain. This never happened before. This is no coincidence.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

After taking TriCor for one week I developed severe lower back, hip, and leg pain. This medication was prescribed because of high tryglisorides. I stoped taking the medication and went to my Doctor. He told me I was wrong, He stated Tricor was perfectly safe and my problem was not caused by the meds.
I went on line and found posts by people who had taken this medication and suffered similar problems. I refused to take this medication, my Doctor gives me a hard time but I will not take it. I Had serious leg and hip pain for about six months. It's been one year since I started the drug. Stretching is very importent and helps relive pain. TriCor and meds of this nature can be very dangerous to some people.

My bloodwork showed high triglycerides. Dr h. prescribed Tricor. I sent in a prescription to my mail order pharmacy. I had taken 4 pills(145 mg 1x daily),and on the evening of the 4th day I felt some stomace pain. That night I got up several times to throw up and have what I thought was diarrhea. With the natural light the next morning I discovered that I probably didn't have the flu. It was the morning of 11/3/07 when I discovered I was bleeding and clotting from my rectum. I called ask a nurse and she said I should come in if it got worse, but for sure I should call my doctor Monday morning. I did and he told me to check into the hoslpital. I spent 4 days there not eating, taking tests, having blood drawn and answering a lot of questions. My gastroenterologist (Dr. I., did what he could to find out what had caused this. He confirmed his suspission that I had COLITIS and was pretty sure it was not Chrons.
Someone came up from pharmacy (i think), to discuss meds both prescribed and natural as well as the benefits of a good diet. She had with her, her lap top. On a whim I asked her to check and check for the side affects of Tricor. COLITIS. I immediately walked out to the in charge desk and saw my hospital internist Dr. B. at a desk. I asked him to check, he did and turned to me and said stop taking Tricor. I haven't taken one since, but no doctor I have spoken to is impressed by this news.
I feel since this is known to be a possible side affect it is my duty as a good citizen to alert others. I have noted my experience via the internet, but have heard nothing until today. I have been asked by someone that is suffering form what she believes to be the side affects from Tricor to alert you as this is the best way to get noticed. Thank you very much for your time on my behalf of myself as well as so many others.
A weekend sick and a little scared. 4 days in the hospital thinking I had cancer chrons or colitis. The damage that I am concerned with is that Tricor caused my colitis and that is a painful illness that could come back at any time for the rest of my life.

After being on Tricor for only 4 days, I was having horrible lower back pain. I went off Tricor and within one day my back felt 110% better.

Several years ago, I was put on TriCor for my triglycerides, 145 mg. I took this medication for three months with devastating effects on my health. I was an active healthy woman when I started this medication and in a matter of months, I was reduced to a shuffling, debilitated cripple. It was four months before my physician made the connection between what was happening to me and the TriCor. Unfortunately, by that time, the damage had already been done. I had countless emergency room visits, Doppler and ultrasound scans, and MRIs before we finally stopped the medication.
As a result, I am now severely limited, even years later, by the damage done to my body by this medication. I feel as though I have been run over by a bus. As a result of the muscle damage, I developed Achilles tendinosis and had to have Achilles tendon grafting. I have talked to so many people and visited websites where people are detailing the horrors of TriCor. Why in the world is it still on the market! I would sooner take Drano. God help us.
Time lost from work, multiple medical scans and procedures, severely limited mobility, even years later.

Now into third year of side effects from taking Tricor-dibilitating pain in legs, knees, arms; associated weakness. 2 1/2-3 years later two Drs. repeatedly treating me for excruciating pain were also treating my high trigliceride levels with tricor. Have been off Tricor and other cholesterol meds since February; pain still no better and according to the pain clinic I now go to (after going through multiple testing; seeing rheumatologists; alternate pain clinic; MRIs, Ultra sounds; CAT scans, physical therapy) muscle damage may take a minimum of six months med-free to feel any better but pain may be permanent.
Life as I knew it is ruined. Sitting here in tears typing this because my legs hurt so bad. Can you tell me if there has ever been a suit mentioned against Abbott Laboratories due to pain/damage caused by Tricor? ANY help you could give me would be wonderful. I look forward to hearing from you.
