I have a complaint regarding the new small Lipitor 10-mg tablet by Pfizer New Zealand, Ltd. Since taking the smaller round tablet, I have been having leg cramps. I have confirmed this by not taking for two days at a time then taking them. Usually the cramps start that night after resuming the new smaller tablet. My guess is there has been a change in the method of manufacture or supplier. I will seek out a natural way to reduce my cholesterol. By the blood test results, this drug does not increase my HDL; both HDL and LDL readings are less than 2.

I have taken Lipitor for the past 2 years and in the beginning I experienced severe pain in my arm rotators, severe leg and ankle cramps and spasms to where my feet would draw up. I wasn't able to walk over 100 feet without having to stop and rest my drawn muscles in my legs at least 4-5 times. I told my doctor about this and he would tell me there wasn't any other drug I could take and the Lipitor wasn't the cause. I took 75mg a day. I began doing research recently, about 6 months ago and studied it and stopped taking it and now I can walk again, work out slowly and move my arms without the excruciating pain.

My doctor had me on the top three statins until I could no longer stand the muscle pain and I refused to take them. Now I am in so much pain that I can only work part time but my doctor claims the muscle pain is from my diabetes. I can not lift my right arm over my head or even wash my back in the shower. Anyone with suggestions? The muscle pain is primarily in my limbs, one arm in particular to the point that it is becoming very difficult to work and it is always painful to even sleep.

I used the drug Lipitor for several years. I am suffering from excruciating leg cramps. After several years on the drug Lipitor (10mg), I developed severe muscle cramping of my legs. I notified my family doctor and he told me he did not think it was from the Lipitor. I insisted he take a blood sample and do a muscle test. He complied and called me as soon as the results came in and told me not to take any more Lipitor or any other statin under any circumstances.
I now suffer from continuous leg/pain cramping which can actually twist my feet and legs into an abnormal physical condition and the muscles in my calves stand out in hard rigid knots. I have never had a problem before taking this drug and have always been in an excellent health. This condition can even inhibit me from walking at times. I'm worried it may advance as I get older. Please advise me as to what I should do.

1 week after starting on LIPITOR I was hospitalized with a stroke. STRANGE COINCIDENCE? NOT ON YOUR LIFE. PERMANENT BRAIN DAMAGE, LOSS OF OCCUPATION, IMPAIRED MOTOR FACILITY ON LEFT SIDE

I am 82 yrs old and during the last two years have become wheelchair bound. I cannot walk at all nor use a walker. I believe this is because lipitor had been prescribed several years before. Before becoming disabled, I began falling for no reason. I feel the doctor was negligent in presribing lipitor. A
neurologist, when I saw him for the first time, took me off it immediately.
disabled...unable to walk...wheelchair bound...cannot drive anymore...have to have caregiver help.

Dr. prescribed Lipitor for my cholestrol. That was about 4 or 5 years ago. Sometime during the latter part of 2006 I started falling without reason. I broke an ankle and things just progressed until I became wheelchair bound. I saw a neurologist and he took me off lipitor and diagnosed me as having peripheral neuropathy. It has begon to affect my hands.

I just aggree with the lady of Plymouth OH that wrote an article about LIpitor. I been taking Lipitor for than 5 years and been suffering from muscle like she does. How many more people has to be cripple before they taking them off the market.

I took Liptor For almost two years, i had Panceritis in September 07. The doctors at the hospital said it was from the drug Lipitor.
I had to stay in the hospital for almost two weeks, i almost died. I told my doctor many times that i was out of breath and so tired all the time. I could not do much work without stopping to rest. I have lost a lot of weight and mucles. My doctor said it was just old age. I'm 66 years old. Lipitor has made me sick and i don't know if i will ever get better

WHEN I TOOK LIPITOR THE FIRST TIME IT INCREASED MY LIVER ENZYMES. I STOPPED TAKING LIPITOR APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS. MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED LIPITOR TO ME AGAIN. MY MUSCLES PRONATOR TERES, BRACHIORADIALIS,DELTOID,BICEP BRACHII BEGAIN TO HURT. I'M IN CONSTANT ACHE. MY HEART IS MUSCLE AND I'M AFRAID INSTEAD OF PREVENTING A HEART ATTACK I WILL GET ONE.

I have had memory loss and severe leg cramps for at least 7 yrs. I have been to numerous doctors. I was speaking to a friend and she asked if I took Lipitor. She told me that this may be my problem.
I suffer loss of sleep, missed days of work, fatigue, severe pain and muscle cramps, memory loss.

I read your story about some statins causing poor sleep, and I wanted to know if Lipitor has a similar affect. I have had very bad sleep for about 4 years, and I have been a great sleeper all my life till now. I started taking Lipitor about then and wondered if that may have caused it. I fall asleep ok but after about 2-3 hours, I wake up and can't sleep anymore. I am 72 so most people just say that older people don't need so much sleep. I am very active (work out every other day for an hour) and my health is good, but I feel like a zombie when I can't sleep.

Muscle and nerve damage in my entire body. Permanent and lasting physical damage that will not reverse by stopping the medication. Memory issure and heart problems.
I have lost the use of the fingers on my right. I was a crafts person and can no longer use the hand to create art. I no longer have the strength to do my job as a retail clerk and so I can no longer work.l am not able to do yard work due to muscle fatique and recuring tendonitis. The Lipitor was prescribed as a preventative. It is an incentive drug with doctors being pressured into promoting it. When I reported side effects to the M.D. he believed it was a good drug and the symptoms must have been from an unknown cause so I continued to use it for 8 months until I began to see issues on the internet. I consider myself disabled and the problems are continuing even though I have not taken Lipitor for 7 months.

My doctor prescribed Lipitor to me. I had to be hospitalized. I no longer had the functions of my muscles. After several painful tests it concluded that the lipitor caused this. I am still not at work, limited muscle use and unable to work.
I have been in a state of panic since this started, the worry with the pain is very unbearable, financially this is having a toll on the family

The muscles in my legs and arms were so bad by this time I could not sleep, sit for any period of time and I had to have help to get up and down. To walk was the worst pain ever, I had a problem in just doing a few steps, the pain was severe.
I stopped on a weekend taking LIPITOR. Called my Dr. and went in the same day I called and she did Blood work, my blood pressure was up to 197/117, my blood pressure was never high. They gave me a breathing test. The blood test showed liver enzymes were up and creatine in my urine. I was back to the office in 3 days more blood work, enzemes and creatine still up, blood pressure still up.
Now here it is 16-17 months later and the muscles in my legs will not let up, the pain is severe. The quality of my life is gone since taking Lipitor.
I can no longer take care of my house, my husband does the grocery shopping, I used to shop for 2 hours or more. Those days are gone. I can't go out with friends like I use to and the dr. bills and medical bills keep going on. This Lipitor is a dangerous drug and should be taken off the market.
